The scheme:

  • USPS is building a new IT systems to screen ballots before they're mailed to voters
    • The portals have been rushed and lack any sort of proper testing
  • Ballots are submitted (by states) to the USPS in large batches ("large" being upwards of 10,000). If a single ballot fails verification against the portal, the entire batch is rejected.
  • There is no way for states or voters to challenge such a rejection
  • Voters might not even find out their ballot was "rejected

Thank you for the tldr

This is insane

Strait to gulag, how dare you question the best voting system this country has ever seen

u/PM_Me_Your_Kinks369 1h ago

Exit Polls used to track incredibly consistently with end results for decades....until electronic voting. It's only gotten worse. The only logical reason I've seen is that they're corrupted. This makes sense considering electronic voting companies are often owned by Republican billionaire sycophants.

u/CaphalorAlb 26m ago

I frankly have no idea how Americans keep accepting electronic voting machines. It can't be that hard to force the government to go back to paper ballots.

I've volunteered at several elections in my country, where it's purely paper. There were around 50 million ballots at the last election. It's not a technological problem, they're just counted by hand! Results are usually available by the next morning and you never lose the direct paper trail. If there aren't enough volunteers, we have to voluntell civic servants to sacrifice around 6-8 hours of their time, which sucks for them, but apart from that it's a pretty foolproof system.

So seriously, why?

it's the best voting system in the history of voting systems, maybe ever

u/TomatoAdventurous139 1h ago

Conservatives and Republicans can stop this evil at any time, but they choose not to.

u/octavioletdub 49m ago

They’ve always been fascists, they just used to hide it better.

u/MesugakiFujiwara 45m ago

They are the evil. They will not stop themselves.

u/KiwDaWabbit2 34m ago

We also need people to stop sitting on the sidelines because the candidates running against MAGA aren’t perfect.

i'm guessing theres a way to selectively apply this? They only reject the entire batch in democratic areas but not republican areas?

u/reddituser8719192 1h ago

yeah, you're on to the plan here.

u/Rocketeer006 38m ago

Jesus Christ, how far America has fallen.

→ More replies (3)

u/assholetoall 1h ago

You mean the areas where they already restrict mail in ballots and make it hard to vote in person.

→ More replies (1)

u/tophernator 1h ago

That’s possible but not really necessary. Mail in ballots generally favour dems anyway, and after years and years of Trump talking about them, the skew will be higher than ever.

u/LionTigerWings 54m ago edited 27m ago

I'll be shocked if they're throwing out votes in rural areas in swing states. They're just going to be boomer conservatives.

u/Default_Name_6969 31m ago

Trump has always voted by mail but his supporters will never mention that.

u/UrbanMasque 47m ago

Ya, stolen Doge data to identify left leaning addresses

u/slaorta 28m ago

The split on mail in ballots is like 60% dem 40% rep. Tossing the majority of the mail in ballots (which is clearly what this plan is meant to do) would result in a large swing towards Republicans if mail-in voting trends continue as they have been for the past decade.

>Voters might not even find out their ballot was rejected

We really need a way to confirm our votes each election year.

I have voted in almost every election since I was 18 and I am never 100% sure my vote was counted and there is literally no way for me to confirm it.

There should be some kind of system you can check that shows your vote was in fact counted for the election you cast it in.

u/jkmhawk 1h ago

That is available in my state

u/Lazer726 1h ago

Yup, in MD I was capable of going online and it would tell me that my vote was delivered and counted when I voted by mail

u/RockieK 46m ago

Same. I get a text message when my vote is counted.

u/Average650 23m ago

It's available in my state, Louisiana, which is not know for it's transparency and integrity.

u/Swords_At_Midnight 40m ago

Same in CA.

u/Budded 52m ago

In CO, we get emails when our ballots are mailed to us, then another one when it's received and one more once it's counted. It's the best system in the country so no wonder Pedolf wants it gone, even though he uses it year after year himself.

Thankfully in CO, other than the ballot arriving to us, we can bypass the USPS by dropping them off in official ballot boxes handled by local election officials.

That being said, it's beyond funny how utterly fucked we are and what's worse is nobody is doing shit about it so we'll likely just take it once it happens.

→ More replies (1)

u/captnconnman 40m ago

Washington state texts me when my ballot has been mailed, when my filled out ballot has been received, and when my signature has been verified. It’s totally doable; only a state or a government that WANTS voters to be disenfranchised chooses not to implement these policies.

The IT system will be likely be linked to something like palantir to associate ballots and people's data.

Batches will be poisoned in some way that routinely fails verification when sent to blue districts.

Possible the batches will also be checked for "American" names based on some racial/ethnic/cultural biased data, which is evidenced by many public cases where AI represents people along stereotypes.

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PRIORS 59m ago

José? No, we only have a record for Jose. Deny the whole batch.

u/ProfessorPickaxe 1h ago

States should submit batches of 1 and break the systems.

Malicious compliance.

u/IKilledYourBabyToday 1h ago

So if some random person makes a dumb meaningless mistake then all 10,000 or more of the ballots of all these completely unrelated people in that batch are tossed? This is fucking disgusting. The fact that they're allowed to openly do this shit but if I say what we as a country need to do then I'll get banned off reddit and have the FBI at my house. I'm so sick of living in this capitalist pedophile dystopia.

In short: DON'T VOTE BY MAIL

u/_Burning_Star_IV_ 19m ago

("large" being upwards of 10,000).

How does this even make sense? Let's assume the goal here is to silence democrat votes but if you are just batching 10,000 together and 1 failure results in trashing them....they're just silencing everyone at random.

Is there some system in place to batch people by registered parties together that I missed?

After listening to the video, the part that is the most egregious violation of voter rights is this:

If a batch of 10,000 names has just one that does not match, the entire batch is rejected.

This is voter disenfranchisement on an enormous scale, and is indefensible.

932

u/TheRealBittoman 3h ago

Crazy part is a very significant portion of mail in ballots are submitted by people who tend to vote Republican every election. Military and elderly. I really don't understand what they're expecting.

→ More replies (1)

u/lazoras 1h ago

so Republicans can go to a different county and fraudulently send in ballots and the USPS will discard entire bundles of valid votes?

127

u/kacmandoth 2h ago

More Democrats vote by mail than Republicans. Statistically, invalidating large batches of mail in votes will favor Republicans. Also, there is a remediation process, but if they focus on fixing batches in (R) counties, but neglect (D) ones, due to democratic counties being larger and having bigger batches to fix, then they can selectively exclude mail in ballots from particular counties by saying they couldn’t remediate them in time for the election. The. They will sue to not count ballots that weren’t counted within like 24 hours of Election Day, and they will win because our government is the most corrupt it has ever been in its history by a factor of 10.

u/dagrave 1h ago

It doesnt need to be big. Remember Georgia, just needed to find 10 or 11k votes? All they need is a few hundred here or there in swing states and you can win it.

35

u/zoinkability 2h ago

This is beyond classic voter suppression schemes, which were sophisticated attempts to get certain people not to vote, or to invalidate their votes. Of course those will be happening too, but this is an entirely different game.

The game here is not to surgically alter the vote, the game is to introduce mass chaos. If nobody knows who won the election because these was so much fuckery, that gives whoever is in power enormous leeway to force the narrative and the result they want.

36

u/brody319 3h ago

A pretext for further and harsher control later if it doesn't work. They arent smart and it doesnt really matter if they just keep being allowed to do this shit. They dont care about their own voters either, its not about democracy or winning the vote because they dont care about those things.

They care about maintaining power and control, thats it. Anything they do is to maintain or increase these things.

14

u/Majestic-Weather-824 2h ago

More nefariously, he could simply hire several associates to knowingly submit fraudulent ballots in blue districts.

18

u/VT_Squire 2h ago edited 2h ago

 I really don't understand what they're expecting.

That it will take exponentially longer to repair the damage caused by this.

See if they like the outcome, they get to hold on to it. And if they dont, they'll just stare you right in the face and declare it was rigged. And if you agree with the last part, they'll just say "see, told ya so. You should vote for me, not that slow person." And if you disagree with them about that part, then it means you are tacitly agreeing to the results of the fraudulent voting process, so now they get to campaign based on the idea that your party is filled with fraudsters. Their whole shtick is a machiavellian attempt to frame politics as "gotcha" moments through the act of inverting basic sensibility and logic or any kind of burden of proof. They don't care what you say or do, they will argue you point for point with bad, disingenuous rhetoric, but they will always change the fucking subject the moment you bring up the fact that the call is coming from within the house. And people eat this tactic up because they're already pre-disposed to making special exceptions for their religion and such. They get away with it because they're plain willing to practice this sort of manipulative, corrupt politics. They said a long time ago that "the gloves are off" and this is what that meant.

So if it's gonna take longer than 2 years to fix it... you already have an idea of what the next presidential election is going to look like.

16

u/bell37 2h ago

Simple… that won’t happens in mostly conservative counties and voting districts. This will be done in liberal areas

5

u/jsheik 2h ago

Entirely the reason for turning over voter roles, and now disproportionately impacting blue states and blue voters in red states mail-in ballots.

11

u/VikingsLad 2h ago

They'll do it in cities, but not in rural counties or on military bases.

4

u/tykeryerson 2h ago

3

u/Malenx_ 1h ago

5

I have to imagine that in a batch of 10k ballots, the chance of one name not matching is like 99.99%

How many votes could even be processed under this scheme, like 5 nationwide?

u/ThaLunatik 1h ago

"Breaking News: President Trump's 'Weekend At Bernie's' body wins 2028 reelection bid by a mere five votes. The final tally was 5-0."

5

u/GuyNamedWhatever 1h ago

In that way, you could ID entire areas of opposition party mail-in voters and have their votes nullified by having one bad actor submitting a bogus name.

So yeah, rigging elections.

u/Several-Action-4043 1h ago

It's indefensible that a Federal entity is intercepting state ballots at all let alone deciding which ones get sent or not. This is blatant election fraud.

6

u/Hadrian23 2h ago

Holy shit. That's absurd in every conceivable way.

u/Budded 48m ago

Indefensible only if you're a sane American. Too bad half our country are anti-American MAGAt a-holes who would shit on and burn the Constitution if Pedolf asked them to.

We have to bring out all the stops to fight back; no excuses for not voting. NONE. Not voting this election just means you couldn't care less and you don't mind American Democracy burning. It's that dire.

6

u/SoulTaker669 2h ago

I wonder if they realize how this could potentially backfire and hurt conservatives more.

9

u/BoxBird 2h ago

The confusion and finger pointing at each other is part of the point

9

u/xurdm 1h ago

It’s not meant to be a long term solution to them. They want it while they’re in power. As long as they’re in power, they can selectively throw ballots out. If they lose power anyway, our rigged Supreme Court will decide this is illegal

2

u/Steely-Dave 2h ago

The ones quickest to action have the best chance to win with this bullshit. Trump knew this- hence Jan 6th. The number of people that are just realizing their vote didn’t count in 2024 continues to grow. Hopefully we can close the loops and states can track real numbers of rejected votes before they move to certify any elections.

The insanity of the policy that if the USPS finds a single ballot in a batch that they deem to be invalid, they throw out the entire batch of ballots.

So one person moves or a woman gets married changes her last name and those ballots are deemed invalid in a batch of 100,000 ballots, they throw out and do not deliver all 100,000 ballots.

Enough already, Trump and the GOP will do whatever they can to derail the midterm election, it is revolution now or never.

381

u/Dzinestein 2h ago

The biggest defense of the upcoming elections was that Trump is not acting like he already plans to win. He was not acting confident. Nobody in his cabinet is acting confident. They have no reason to, because the tomfuckery they plan to pull is only going to marginally soften an inevitably painful blow to their hold on the government. The incoming blue wave of hatred against Trump and his ilk and all the pain and suffering he's induced on the average American over the past two years would be so powerful that he couldn't cheat his way out of it.

An election was going to happen, no attempt to cancel it would ever be acknowledge or humoured beyond letting him piss and moan and scream, and he was going to get his ass handed to him in that election.

Well it seems we overlooked the fact that he could just say "Democrat votes don't count", and the question is now "Where do we go from here?"

He's made it pretty clear that he knows he's going to lose, he plans to lose, and his strategy for avoiding the consequences of that loss is to just say "Democrats don't count".

18

They will however keep thinking this, specially after this bullshit midterms they'll try to steal, and that's when they think we will have had enough. Fortunately for them, nothing short of a starving populace will mean no significant pushback and they will tread on past the midterms, finalize project 2025 (the systematic erosion of our liberties) and finally achieve their goal. Wild part is too that older republicans tend to vote majority by mail instead of dems who go to the polls

6

While it is true that there may be some demographic of Republicans who largely vote by mail, the statistics show that by a pretty wide margin Democrats vote more by mail than to Republicans. So if you just get rid of mail in ballots you’re going to automatically reduce more democrat votes than Republican votes.

Not ever.

Short of an insurrection, the only people realistically capable of stopping him are Republican politicians voting to impeach.

If they stop bending the knee and sucking his dick, he loses his power.

u/Mixels 2h ago

Problem is, so do they.

Republicans stormed the capital one the whim of one man, democrats have mountains of evidence and the best they can do is blow a whistle and picket a clever sign on a warm beach street.

Like when he installed that nutjob whose first priority was dismantling mail sorters with no justification, reason, recourse, consequences? I still can’t get over that.

Secret?

Did no one read project 2025? Or has been paying attention to the GOP the past 40 years?

142

u/ARazorbacks 2h ago

Can anyone tell me why the USPS is screening ballots? Isn’t that up to the states to decide if a ballot is legitimate?

I understand what the GOP is trying to do here, I don’t need that explained. What I don’t understand is why a ballot that’s part of a state-run election is being “verified” by the USPS? What law allows them to act as a middleman?

Edit: In other words shouldn’t the USPS just be delivering the mail regardless of if it’s a Sears catalog or a ballot?

127

u/Cheezeball25 2h ago

Because the GOP couldn't find another way to throw away votes from blue areas. The states control the elections, but the feds control the postal service. They're just working with everything they can to rig the election in their favor.

No reasonable government would ever dream of pressing with a functioning postal service to rig elections, but that's not whose in charge now.

26

u/LinkedGaming 2h ago

Their last possible Hail Mary ratfuck attempt is to just not let Democrats vote because I'm guessing polling shows that all the other ratfucking attempts combined still aren't enough to stave off the inevitable election loss.

10

u/squirrel-phone 1h ago

Well, the last possible Hail Mary ratfuck attempt would be Trump declaring the Insurrection Act just before the election over some made-up garbage.

u/ToughHardware 48m ago

that is what goode/pretti were for. to test the resistance to this. amazingly, USA citizens did a decent job resisting here and I think they understand they can only go so far here. markwaynmullin is there to do nothing, not to being about the 3rd reik

u/gamingx47 48m ago

Don't forget them shutting down polling ststions in blue counties, especially majority black and Hispanic counties.

Because, you know, can't have them minorites actually affect the election.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/politics/plan-to-cut-polling-sites-in-major-texas-county-draws-protests-as-senate-battle-looms

10

u/Sp_nach 2h ago

It should be, but Trump put one of his goons in charge of the post office. So it's complicit.

u/GCPMAN 1h ago

because USPS is under the executive branch. Basically they are doing it because it's a lever trump and his cronies can pull to meddle in state elections. There is no other reason that USPS should be involved in this kind of supervision.

Wow, just wow!

As an Aussie, the fights you guys have over the simplest things about elections simply amaze me:

  • Who can vote?
  • Where can they vote?
  • How long are the lines?
  • How many voting stations are there?
  • Can someone give them water?
  • How do you know the person voting is who they say they are?
  • What ID do you need?
  • Can I vote early?
  • Can I mail my vote?

The vested interests have the average American citizen so wound up in "the process", they've forgotten to consider the goal!

Get your SHIT together!

Here's how we do it down under:

  • Everyone has to vote. It stops the extremes on both sides and makes politicians target the "middle", so we don't get wild policy swings after each election
  • We make voting EASY! Basically every school in the country becomes a voting station one Saturday. Everyone turns up (they're close by definition), votes, has a chat with the neighbours, buys a 'Democracy sausage' (look it up!) to support a local group & goes home. It takes 10 minutes & you get fed!
  • When you vote, you select who you want, and who you want next if that person doesn't win & so on. Your vote isn't "cancelled" if the candidate you selected is eliminated. It lets minor parties participate & win seats, especially in our Senate.
  • If our PM is an unpopular asshole, we change them. No need to wait another 3 or 4 years for a new election, we just pressure the party in power & they do it.
  • Our districts are drawn up by an independent body - no gerrymandering for us! The same body(AEC) also oversees the elections, so we don't have to worry about a State Govt trying to tilt things in their party's favour.

I guess at the end of the day, Australian's have a built-in concept of a "fair go" and it results in a much "fairer" electoral system than what you guys have.

u/therealstrait 1h ago

Hey bud, ironically a lot of the voting process you’ve described are being pushed as policy changes from the left wing of the American political spectrum. They are also considered too radical and impossible to implement and will cause the downfall of democracy by the right wing party because they know if voting is easy, they lose their shot at remaining in power. The right doesn’t do policy anymore, it’s just culture war and tax breaks/deregulation to benefit their donors (another thing the far left wants to get out of politics but is also considered radical).

u/FairDinkumMate 1h ago

I absolutely understand. My point was (is) that US parties have people arguing over "mail-in voting" & "voting poll locations" instead them fighting for the end of gerrymandering, instant runoff voting, & control over political lobbying and donations.

The politicians(& more importantly, their donors) are winning & you guys are fighting the results instead of the cause!

this is the type of shit that the post office 'couldn't' do while place holder biden was helplessly in office. now, post office does what it wants and the courts don't say shit.

the united states is just fucking sad. i feel sorry for all of you.

16

u/boogermike 2h ago

Our ballots will be counted, and if we need to hand deliver every one of them we will....I will do nothing by drive around my town and help in any way I can (despite ridiculously high gas prices).

Any plan he tries is going to backfire bigly.

62

u/stizzity28 3h ago

It doesn't matter. There are never any consequences for this piece of shit.

u/BlackGuysYeah 3h ago

Things would be so much worse if it weren't for Elias and his group fighting back the Trump admin in court. He is essentially THE defender of democracy in the US right now.

Republicans will do anything to prevent americans from voting. Its honestly sickening.

This country is done unless something is done, and judging by the apathy? Im not optimistic.

14

u/esem86 2h ago

We're never going to have free and fair elections again with Republicans in power. Ever.

5

u/RianCoke 1h ago

I’ve said for a while now that the US has already had their last fair election. Might not have even been the most recent one if you consider what Musk said.

u/Warning1024 1h ago

Im sure the DNC will do everything they can to ring the alarm, fight back, and message this huge problem to their voters.....

Oh? Theyre not? Theyre too busy going on cable news to "condemn" Hassan piker? Oh thats right....

American democracy has been a joke since the whole hanging chad debacle

u/KlatuuBaradaFickto 1h ago

Republicans wanted the voting data so they could remove ballots that likely wouldn't benefit them.

u/mikewozere 1h ago

Can't wait for nothing to come from this.  US really has just rolled over and died.

u/PlaneGoFlyFly 40m ago

Unreal. Somebody needs to stop this motherfucker from ruining the USA. Holy shit.

u/PenguinsAndTopHats 35m ago

Every fuck that claims out votes don't matter, please tell me why they do this then?

u/koloqial 30m ago

Isn’t this why the US has guns?

u/highsinthe70s 25m ago

Plain and simple: it is not safe to vote by mail this year. Vote in person, either during early voting or vote on Election Day. Most states have extensive early voting periods. Yeah, it sucks and it might be inconvenient, but they’re giving us no alternative. I’d crawl over broken glass to vote against these people, so in-person voting doesn’t seem that high a hurdle.

u/Mad-farmer 21m ago

And no one will stop them from doing whatever they please.

u/walflez9000 3m ago

I think it’s time we march on Washington yall. This is too much.

8

u/ErgoMachina 2h ago

So...um. Hello Americans? They are stealing the election in your faces

2

u/Dawgfish_Head 2h ago

Idk what mail in voting looks like in other states but in NJ we have drop boxes. Does this affect the drop boxes for mail in voting? I’ve never put my ballot through the mail I’ve only ever dropped it off in the drop box at the municipal or county government buildings.

Installing 2 consecutive boot licking trump supporting PMGs wasn’t killing the USPS fast enough so now he’s going to politicize a government agency that has no business being involved in any type of political activity. This will certainly be the end of it if allowed to continue with this plan.

u/slumvillain 58m ago

Can't wait for nothing to be done about this.

u/rg2004 57m ago

Convince your democratic friends to vote in person regardless. Then, if they succeed in implementing this strategy, force Republicans to apply it evenly.

→ More replies (1)

u/Budded 57m ago

Too bad we're fucked and there's nothing we can do about it. Seriously, it's all out of our control and they'll fuck over the midterms knowing nobody will push back. This isn't defeatism, it's a plea to start fighting back, though I don't know how to

u/ObnoxiousDrivel 57m ago

Everyone should vote in person(if they can) and early vote. Early voting is much faster and convenient. They challenge mail-in voting every year, and I don’t want to chance not letting my voice be heard.

u/meleecow 53m ago

ok states... DO SOMETHING

u/Exotic-Cobbler4111 46m ago

Maybe if we just vote a little harder we might win back democracy, not really though because you dont get democracy without fighting for it. Our elections are almost as legitimate as Russia's. Also this is atleast simce the hanging chad did not start with trump.

u/geforce2187 42m ago

I saw "BREAKING" followed by "Trump" and got my hopes up for a second there

u/Curlypeeps 41m ago

We need to march on Washington!

u/tecmac 35m ago

he is and always was a pro cheater and he even brags about it.

now because of this gaming level some democrats will have to sit down and learn how to decode the cheating and repel it

or USA will be at war again like it was back in the 1800’

u/ohimjustagirl19 28m ago

In a proper country he'd be awaiting trial already.

u/Pnthr65 26m ago

I always mailed in my ballot, however, moving forward that will not be the case. If I have to crawl to the polls I will.

u/Hot_Mathematician357 25m ago

So what are we going to do about it?

u/ShvettyBawlz 17m ago

MAGA supporters are traitors

u/joe-ducreux 15m ago

At this point I think everyone needs to plan to stand in line to vote. If you're lucky enough to get a ballot in the mail, fill it out and drop it off in person.

Maybe a pain, but kind of the least we can do to protect our democracy

u/infinitemagicthings 11m ago

Ok is the US actually lost then like Russia or can anything be done to stop this genuine would like to know
