tank minor rust

At this stage, it seems that the rust at the bottom of the fuel tank does not require treatment. However, I’ve noticed that it has spread over the past four months. I have been using 91 octane petrol and keeping the fuel tank completely full during this time. Should I treat the rust now to prevent it from spreading further?

The photos are from four months ago and yesterday, respectively.

Just picked these up in the last month. 1998 ATK 250 LQ and a 1973 Honda XR75.

The 250 and the XR75 are really clean. The XR75 I used to ride as a kid.

Spark issue on 1978 Suzuki ts 125

When I was at the sellers house and tested for spark it had deep blue spark. When we loaded it up, took it home, I took the gas tank, plastics, and oil rez off. Then it didn't have spark. All lights where stripped and the key ignition has been by passed, it's only hooked up to a simple on off switch. I replaced the ignition coil, and hard wired it to the black wire coming out of the stator and I still cannot get any spark paid 600 for it

I’m looking for a front brake cable mine has a split end cable up at the lever end and on the other end is a single end. I’m trying to look up this exact cable but cannot find it anywhere. Does anybody know if I can only use a single ended cable on one side and have it work properly still?

How much should I approx. look to sell this for? Including pick u

This bike is no longer needed, however, I’m struggling to identify it and especially put a price on what it should sell for. Although I ride a Honda CB500F myself, I’m not familiar with vintage project motorbikes and especially the price.

I’m not looking for top dollar, but just an approx reasonable price I should expect to sell it for.

Also any help with identifying it.

Thanks!

At my wits end with this bike. I’m in desperate need of a service manual

I have a 1986 Yamaha xj700s Maxim x water cooled bike. I’m trying to replace my wiring harness but I don’t have the diagram. The air cooled versions are everywhere but the water cooled versions an extremely hard to find. And those who have them covet them and won’t help anyone out without a ludicrous price. All I want to do is ride my bike but I’m about to push it into a crusher. I don’t know enough to do this solo with any diagrams or manuals. I just want to ride but can’t cause this is all I’ve got. It’s getting to the point to where I just don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t afford any other bike and I’m just about to give up on it. If anyone could help I would truly appreciate it.

I cant really find anything online, It is at my grandpa's place and he knows nothing about it as it was given to him for free. Sorry for the bad pictures. The vin is j01095. I found a plastic gas tank that says hodaka too elsewhere at his house that is most likely for this bike if that helps.

Hey guys just bought my first bike it's a 76gs 400 it runs and rides well (besides a wildly high idle)but the brakes are pretty bad I'm looking online for new parts and I know since the bike is 50 years old it will be no small task I'm finding lots of parts for the 77 and 78 gs 400s but just want to be sure they are compatible with the older bike before I order anything if anyone knows anything about these bikes please reach out I would greatly appreciate it🙏

1982 Suzuki GS650G Idle Issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys,

A few months back I posted about a carb rebuild for my 1982 GS650G. Since then I have rebuilt the carbs, but have had nothing but issues since. Originally I struggled with fitting the carbs back into the boots which caused a large vacuum leak. Since then I’ve tried to deal with issues caused by previous owner trying to run pod filters. I went from a #47 pilot jet to #42.5 per spec and sealed off some holes the previous owner cut into the airbox to make pods work. Now I’m at a point where the bike will start with it fully choked and as soon as I shut it, the bike dies. But other times it’ll start without choke and idle at 3000 then die. There will also be times when the idle runs away and just shoots up to 3-4000rpm with no explanation. I cannot figure out the source and I’m trying my hardest to not have to take the carbs out for what will be the fourth time. These are some videos of me spraying starter fluid around the carbs, there is a noticeable blip at carb #4 but then when spraying it again I can’t recreate it. One other thing, when running bike with or without choke any input from the throttle kills it.

Does anyone have any advice for dealing with this? This is feeling like my last shot to get it running before the fall season and I rarely get more than a half day a week to work on it.

I have started cleaning

I've taken off the carbs and gotten rid of some rust so far but I've gotten kinda stumped because I've just been waiting to get carb cleaner. What cleaning is easier to do when the carburetors are off.

Suzuki RV125

Hi I just have a question. I seem to be topping out at 40 mph on my freshly restored Suzuki RVV125.

Motor has been fully rebuild with an oversized piston and just seeing if anybody else is getting any higher speed

( and yes I know the front tire does not manage the rear. If you would like to provide me a listing for a Bridgestone correct front. I’m happy to buy it but Bridge don’t do not make them since 2008 and there is no new Old stock left I’ve been looking for four years. Please do not tell me about it. )

1983 Honda GL650 Silverwing
I took the bike everywhere I needed to go today and I just had so much fun. Love these vintage bikes.

I have had an issue with the carbs getting clogged and I’m trying to run some Sea Foam through the tank before I have to pull the carbs and clean them. It does seem to be getting better.

She ain't fast but it was a satisfying ride through town for a quick drink before dark.

Some lads were fighting outside a club in the middle and they all stopped to watch me go by with smiles on their faces - that's the beauty of vintage 2 stroke bikes!

Fun times. Hopefully get a few more rides in this year before we lose the lovely weather.
