Back in the 70s, my dad wanted to get a boat and took the Coast Guard Navigation courses. (Bunch of hairy math that could melt your brain!). Anyway, it’s been passed down to me, has no value since any map app will tell you your location. What can I do with it?

Several weeks ago I posted a pair of ‘Old’ *No. 240 Starrett holding pliers. In the interest of those that still do work that requires holding workpieces by hand, I present another version of this is the ones with an adjustable limiting screw.

The advantage of this is mostly in a couple of areas. It limits how much release occurs when you loosen your grip. When closely adjusted, the pliers can be moved slightly on the workpiece without losing control of it.

This is also helpful when holding a piece while grinding or buffing and you need to move where your hand is positioned.

I recently acquired this complete workshop. Can anyone point me in a direction for learning more about it?

I assume its for rolling smaller logs, but can't find anything that looks like it with my searches. I have 2 of em. no markings that i can find.

The "switch" spins off, but the neck doesn't, the best I could figure out.

Bottom has two puncture holes, as if it was some type of pressure gauge or something of that nature.

My neighbor was throwing a number of old tools and metal bits out but offered them to me before the scrap guy came. I haven’t restored anything yet but I was looking more closely and noticed the maker’s mark on these files. Was very glad to hear that they were at least a very solid tool. To be honest, I have used files at times in my woodworking but almost exclusively when I needed make something to fit and almost never as a routine part. Otherwise, I mostly use them to sharpen other tools. I’ve got a bunch of them now what are the best uses for them?

What exactly is this base for? I'm seeing microphone stand using Google Image search but none of them have the level action design so I'm thinking it might be something else. I appreciate any input you can offer.

Found these in yard. Were pretty rusted up and am in process of lightly restoring it, from what I learned, these were sold froms 80s until 90s . Beyond that, no idea who forged them.

This device came to me in a box of old end mills. It looks like it might be an early version of a dial indicator. Any ideas what it is?

The shank is steel, but the head appears to be copper. When I push the plunger at the end in, it moves a lever inside the head, which positions a small arrow at the graduations on top of the copper head.

This may be a long shot, but I have a very, sentimental to me, pair of loppers and are fantastic quality. I grew up as a child using these hours upon hours clearing our property, with my father. I am on the hunt for possibly the manufacturer, but more importantly replacement handles. I believe them to be oak, but possibly ash. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just got my hands on a 1940ish Plumb BSA axe head. I’m looking to refurbish it to its original look. Does anyone know of a template of the lettering that was on the handle (“official scout axe”)?

B&C manufactured these and stamped with Fulton, which was the Sears house brand before Craftsman. I wonder, if I break it, can I get an exchange at Lowes?? Lol

Hey everyone, I recently picked up this vintage Black & Decker Finishing Sander (Model HD1235). I’m guessing it’s from the late 1960s to early 1970s based on the design and styling, but I’d love to know if anyone has more precise info or a catalog reference for it.
