Obviously it's less so, but in the few instances where I mention being asexual, people think they're free thinking mentalists and go "Have you considered this??" and suggest the most basic alternative ever imaginable.

Like I mentioned a while back that my asexuality is reinforced by the fact that I go to the gym a lot, and I'm surrounded by these athletic, attractive women who I talk to all the time and I'm just not attracted to them. And someone asked "Have you considered that you might be attracted to skinny/chubby girls?"

Like bitch, do you think I've never ever seen skinny or chubby women before? Don't you think that I'd know if I was attracted to them??

Our culture largely revolves around sex.  Many people are so indoctrinated that they can't believe someone just doesn't want to have sex.
