Putting aside the ones where people cranked it way past reasonable settings, tbh I'm just kinda underwhelmed by it. A lot of the time it just ups the contrast and sharpness, and adds some extra random shadows or highlights. It's like a visual version of FL Studio's "Soundgoodizer", just doing random tweaks that usually get people to go "that looks better" in an A/B test, but when playing the actual game normally you won't really notice.

It seems like a thing where in a few years when they get it to stop fucking with character faces, and it's being put on games that from the ground up where it's being considered from the start, it would offer some minor improvements, but the cost needed to actually be able to do it seems not really worth it. Just adjust your TV's contrast.

As it is right now, even if you can get something looking decent it just makes the kinda janky game animations look even worse. When it "looks like a video game", that stuff sticks out less.

Faces are one of the worst aspects of it, it ether makes them more shiny but *whatever*, or looks awful and just can't deal with any level of stylized art.

Other than that when somewhat reasonably applied, it tends to do mild color corrections, and just adds shadows. tbh If it were not for the slopifyed faces it's kinda boring.
