Don't forget that DLSS 5 is supposed to make games both look and run better

Not only do they all look like shit, but DLSS 5 makes them run significantly worse

Like, 120fps to 30 fps levels of worse

The graphics card has to render, or at least partially render the frame. The the llm looks at it and says " that's nice but..." and sends it's update. Then your graphics card finishes rendering or renders a new frame.

It's adding middle management to your game

There's a reason that the announcement video had sever distortions and artefacting on moving faces in the soccer portion

There is nothing to do with an LLM in DLSS 5. I know not everyone here thinks that is the case, but that's a really silly preconception a lot of people are basing their arguments on about AI more generally.

Because thanks to marketing and misunderstanding terms: Algorithm = AI = LLM.

In most cases such as this one I wouldn't even call it misunderstaning terms. It's just a preconceived notion produced from zero topical understanding and being about as uninformed as one can possibly be about the subject before talking about it. It takes less than a minute to Google and learn some of the ways AI is not limited to LLMs, which are just glorified text autocomplete, and it takes less than 15 seconds to Google and learn that DLSS 5 doesn't use that at all.

As a professional that is aware of most of the nuance and agrees with most of the criticisms, AI discourse online is fucking exhausting. No, AlphaFold, the AI model that has enabled us to predict hundreds of millions of new protein structures and literally save lives, is not the same thing as the chatbots that help you cheat on your take-home assignments. And by the way, your professors can almost always tell.
