Hello students,
There has been a concerning increase in the frequency of posts and comments regarding fears, depression, loneliness, and other concerns relating to mental health and wellbeing.
We are aware that it is a very stressful time especially with midterms ongoing so the moderator team would like to ensure that all students are aware of the resources available to Laurier students on the student wellness centre website. There are a variety of services available meant to cater to you and your needs. These services are available to all students and should be taken advantage of. These services also include counselling, which is covered by your student insurance and the student services fees that you have already paid for.
Below are some other resources for students in need of urgent help:
- Good2talk.ca (Call 1-866-925-5454 or Text GOOD2TALKON to 686868) for 24/7 support
- Kids Help Phone (Call 1-800-668-6868 or Text 686868)
- The Suicide Crisis Helpline (Call or text 988)
- Call here 24/7 anytime Call Here 24/7 anytime [1-844-437-3247](tel:1-844-437-3247)
- Call Laurier's Special Constable Service 519-885-3333
- Emergency Services (Call 911)
This post is being made purely for informational purposes. We want to foster a safe and inclusive environment both online and on campus. However, many first year students (and upper years) are not aware of the professional help that is available to them.
Please take care of yourselves and reach out to your friends who you know are struggling or not in a good mental space.

Hi WLU!
This subreddit is often filled with housing related questions and advertisements. We want to keep this community less like a rent space bulletin board and more so a place where students can socialize and help one another.
However, we know how important it is to find roommates and housing near campus. So the mods team has launched r/RentInWaterloo, a dedicated subreddit for UW and WLU students to find roommates, housing, sublets, and lease takeovers in Waterloo.
The goal is to keep housing posts centralized, student-only, and scam-aware, instead of flooding both r/uwaterloo and r/wlu.
If you’re currently looking for housing (or will be soon), feel free to check it out or post. Hope this helps!

As the title states, I didn't get coop due to my gpa not meeting the requirements. What should I be doing next to make sure I get a internship for next summer? Besides WLU Navigator, where can I apply for internships?

Hello everyone,
Has anyone recently applied for the Master of Applied Computing (MAC) (course-based) program? If so, how long did it take to receive an admission decision?
Thank you!

Guys, I have a 3 core course semester this fall with space for 2 electives, currently I have them all selected with my two electives being GG294 & ES296. As of my understanding if I take GG294 with Kelley McClinchey there are no exams, is that correct?
And as for ES296, this is the one I'm trying to replace and I need some opinions from the people who took it. For the people who took this course in-person, how is it? Is it easy, hard? Is it much harder than ES110? I lowkey couldn't find some other electives like EM202, EM101, as they were all full. Also does anyone have any other suggestions for electives to replace ES296, preferrably second year bird courses?

So I’m going into my third year now, and I only have one friend from this school. I lived in res during my first year, so I made a couple of friends, but I was at the Brantford campus.
My friend and I decided to switch to the Waterloo campus for our second year, and yeah, I didn’t really make any new friends. I guess you could say I’m kind of scared of putting myself out there.
I would love to join clubs, but I have work every day, and my commute is like 5 hours round trip. I made my schedule so I only have to come to campus 2 days a week. If I had to stay longer after class, I’d probably be late for work since I take the bus.
I’d love to go to clubs or something on Friday or Saturday night, but I don’t even know what I would say to people. I don’t really see myself just talking to people from my class or randomly starting a conversation with someone in the hallway. I dont girl jus seem scary and then guys r jus trynna aura farm or sum shi like they seem kinda cold

So I believe the only mandatory course that has a lab is BU111 and i think macroeconmics but I js was wondering how do these labs go is it like a group presentation thing and are groups randomly assigned? Do we have to do smth to register ourselves for these or is it already done when creating our schedule automatically? And lastly any experiences or tips or smth u wish u knew related to these business related labs?

I got a co-op interview, and I was wondering if I still have a good chance even though I didn’t have any extracurricular activities during my first year.
I have several activities from high school, as well as office experience from the past two summers. Do you think I’m okay, or should I be worried about not having any first-year activities?
Any advice or insight would be appreciated!

If you have a cs job please say the role, the pay, how you got it and what year you’re currently in.
If you had more than one job, please say all of them!
Just curious!

Kind of a dump and obvious question. On Thursday, September 10, the first day of uni, do we just attend the classes we signed up for that day (Thursdays)? I know the answer may be yes. But, I'm asking because this will be my first year, and I am unsure. Also because that day I'm supposed to have two labs.
