I don’t think there’s any workplace politics involved. He’s either having a technical glitch with his Teams or he’s an idiot. The normal thing to do is to just correct him the same way you would irl

CEO’s say n do things on pure emotion…the only things that are front of mind is whats visible. Ur manager is very visible in fact all ur work is actually her

My boss does this sometimes, he calls me with my predecessor's name. The guy worked there like 7 years ago and we look nothing alike. Some people just operate on autopilot, especially CEOs who got 50 things bouncing around their head.

when it happens to me I just reply back "it's [my name] by the way, in case you're mixing up who sent the last email" - keep it light, almost like you're helping him out. after couple times he started double checking before hitting send. might worth trying before going through manager or lead.

Choose your poison:

Right now, CEO sometimes doesn't notice the work you've done and credits someone else.

Inform the CEO that they've made an error and called you by the wrong name and you'll get noticed, but not in a good way.
