Cat Picture - OC Is anyone else's fuzzlebum fascinated by a hole in the shower floor?

Post image
Upvotes

So, my shower has a pebble floor. It was like that when I moved in, lol. One small section needs a repair, more pebbles and epoxy to fill the hole, which I'll do eventually.

In the meantime, on to the question in the title: both of my fuzzlebums are fascinated by it, and they stretch their claws on it daily. Which is slowly loosening more pebbles. Adorable lil shits, but out of all the things they can stretch their claws on, why does it have to be this? 😹😹😹

Advice Anybody know what she’s doing here?

Upvotes

Molly has done this nightly for her entire adult life. Always at night and always after she’s had her dinner. Sometimes in the middle of the night lol. She always uses a stuffed animal or toy like she has here. Does anybody know what she’s doing or why she might do this?

My littlest one, he’s 18 weeks now and all black and white some grey undertones still but he’s my little tuxedo now, though I’m gonna miss his grey! I forgot how grey he actually was! He is still lighter than my all black cat though interesting to see if he gets any darker. I find coat patterns so interesting!

This is Hunter, he's an old boy

Around 17 years old, all he wants to do most of the day is sleep now and every now and then he gets to go outside and eat grass and throw it up and just relax on the ground for a bit.

Advice Cat looking for affection early mornings but then bits me

Upvotes

So, my cat is very independent, she occasionally sits on my knee, very occasionally!

But she does usually come to the bedroom during the night and sleeps or early morning. She always tries to wake me around 5am or so, but she is looking for rubs and affection. She rubs her head in beside mine and rubs her head off my hands till I give her rubs. And she purrs like mad.

But then she bits me! Sometimes on the face, sometimes on the arm. I don't understand why she does it

Medical Questions How bad is this nail?

Post image
Upvotes

Took my grandpa's cat to the vet and she came back with a messed up nail. I'll be going back to the vet in the morning, but I need to know if she'll be ok overnight. Both the nails are held on by a string at the knuckle. I've never seen a nail that bad, and I found blood on the towel they put in her carrier.

Advice Feliway diffusers

Upvotes

Does anybody who uses the feliway diffusers actually switch out the wall plug in as recommended? They recommend you change them every 6 months but that seems crazy to me.
I have two cats. The older male seems like he is bullying his sister for the past week. The diffusers were just refilled about a week ago so they’re not low. I’m wondering if I actually need to switch the plug in out as recommended.

Advice Recently diagnosed with mild asthma and I have 3 cats — what can I do to reduce my symptoms?

Upvotes

I was recently diagnosed with relatively mild asthma. I’ve had my three cats for about five years, and rehoming them or living without them is absolutely not an option for me.
So my question is for people who have asthma and still live with cats: what have you done to reduce your asthma symptoms or attacks while continuing to live with them?
So far, we’ve started taking a few precautions:
The cats are no longer allowed in our bedroom.

We’re trying to keep the bedroom and my pajamas completely isolated from the cats.

I’m considering getting a HEPA air purifier.

We’re planning to clean more frequently, especially to reduce cat hair and dander around the house.

I’d especially love to hear from people who have been in a similar situation. Did an air purifier make a noticeable difference? What about HEPA vacuums, washing bedding more frequently, grooming the cats, or keeping certain rooms cat-free?

If you’ve managed to keep your asthma under control while living with cats, I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for you.
Getting rid of my cats isn’t something I’m considering, so I’m mainly looking for practical ways to make living together as asthma-friendly as possible.

Advice Fire Alarm Inspection

Upvotes

Hi! I'm fairly new to having a cat (about 2 months in) and my apartment posted that they are doing inspections for the fire alarm and will be sounding it. They already did the sprinkler inspection so I took the day off to stay with my cat (who is home alone MWF)

Should I take off for the fire alarm sound inspection as well? I don't believe they are coming into my unit, but also I haven't had my cat long enough to know his reaction to fire alarms. Is it worth taking PTO?

Advice Why is my cat pooping outside her litter box?

Upvotes

I have 4 cats (all females) including a foster and have 4 litter boxes. Only 2 cats are constantly free roaming, so there are always 2 litter boxes for those two to share. Recently, I’ve noticed that every night when no one’s looking, my 5 year old cat will poop either behind her litter box, in a plant, or in the corner of the dinning room. She has done this in the past with peeing in the plants (never poop), but stopped for quite some time.

Shes been to the vet a few months ago and we were told that her tests indicate either pre-diabetic levels, or high stress. But since then, she has been on a more strict diet & we’ve placed a few calming diffusers around the house. I will take her to the vet anyway soon, but I’m just wondering if this could just be a quick fix, like changing litter types or something or adding even more diffusers?

I use Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Slide cat litter, and all boxes are scooped daily
