Question should i be worried about roaches?

i recently moved to abq about a month ago from near santa fe and have been terrified of roaches as they weren't something i encountered before. in the last month i have been keeping my apartment clean and only seen dead roaches outside as they buy spray every week.

however in roughly the last week my partner and i have seen 4 bugs that are almost definitely some kind of roach nymph. two were in the tub/bathroom sink and found already dead. the other two were in the kitchen sink and on the floor of the bathroom and we found alive. I freaked out and have sprayed on our patio, in the bathroom, kitchen, and most of inside perimeter with home defense and put out two 'roach motels'. im waiting for advion to come. I know, maybe a bit excessive but I don't want to take any chances.

i have heard that they are just a part of life in Albuquerque and other big cities. i have also heard of many infestations and about how hard German roaches are to remove. honestly, how scared should I be?

It looked like only the top corner of the roof was burned, and the front part of the building looked fine.

Do you find that there is anti-white bias here in Albuquerque and/or New Mexico?

Maybe it's just my perception but I sometimes feel that my skin color has an affect on who will hire me and how I am treated. When I was getting my Masters in Social Work I experienced this quite often from my classmates. Whats your take?

Question First-time homebuyer in need of local wisdom

Hi all
I recently moved to ABQ and could really use some local wisdom. I am looking at buying a house and, before I move forward, I am hoping to find a contractor who is willing to look at a house before purchase and provide an estimate for modest renovations/remodeling (bathroom, kitchen , fireplace surround) . Looking for recs on budget friendly and reliable contractors!
Thanks a lot.

PS: It’s beautiful out here

Extremly hard to find a job

What happened to this city?

I’ve been away for almost four years traveling for work as an electrician. When I left, the city had a strong job market everyone was hiring and things were going well. Now, it feels completely dead.

I came back hoping to find a job outside of electrical work, but nobody seems to be hiring. I’ve even applied to over 12 different McDonald’s locations and was turned down by all of them lol

Has anyone used Sun State Solar who would be willing here to provide feedback on the experience with the company? Also include whether you interviewed other companies and why you chose SSS. I thank you in advance; much appreciated!

Question Interest Question-- Greek Food

For ABQ long-timers, foodies, and ABQ-born: do you think there is interest in Albuquerque for Greek-focused/ Mediterranean food places that are not boutique and over priced? Just regular, mom n' pop style, comfort food or even meal prep. I moved from a diverse place and I'm genuinely curious as to whether you think ABQ would support something like that. Many thanks!

Applying for jobs

Nobody wants to hire anyone anymore. My mom moved here a week ago, and has already applied for 50+ jobs. She’s had a handful of interviews, and they either don’t get back to her or they move on to the next person. With years of experience, you would think something would stick, but it’s just a road to no where. I’m scared for her. Sorry if this isn’t a normal post in this thread, it’s just really discouraging. I don’t understand how it’s so impossible to get a job nowadays.

New Speed Cameras: A39, A40

Post image

That makes 40 Albuquerque cameras, and 20 Bernalillo County cameras.

A39: Westbound Central between Wyoming and Louisiana

A40: Northbound Wyoming between Central & Lomas

I also added more streets and labels. I tested out Waze on a couple of camera locations and it did not give me very much warning. If I was speeding I don't think I would have had time to slow down.
