What to Watch? Struggling to find new action anime to hook me

I've been enjoying high-stakes action anime lately, preferably with some grit to them. A lot of anime I've found lately with an ostensibly interesting premise have the classic protagonist who always easily wins because he has some blessing or crazy isekai power or is the chosen one etc. and those bore me to tears. Unfortunately it feels like I've already watched (and rewatched) most of what fits the bill. I'm looking for more shows like

  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • Chainsaw Man
  • Hell's Paradise
  • Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
  • Gachiakuta
  • Sentenced to be a Hero
  • Kaiju No. 8
  • Re: Zero
  • Blood Blockade Battlefront
  • Solo Leveling

Hopefully that gives enough context for what I'm looking for. Additionally, I can really only watch English Dubs. I've got ADHD and simply can't watch subs without constantly rewinding because I missed what was said. Unfortunately my Japanese is years away from being able to watch without translation.

Some other shows I've seen and enjoyed are The Irregular at Magic High School, Classroom of the Elite, Future Diary, Noragami, Bungo Stray Dogs, BNHA, Deadman Wonderland, Tower of God, Demon Slayer, and Frieren (in no particular order). I tried watching Attack on Titan a couple times but I always end up putting it down.

Anyway sorry for the long post and thanks for your suggestions~

What to Watch? Looking for anime with a strong atmosphere, mystery, and characters that actually stick with you

I’m looking for something that has that feeling where you finish an episode and keep thinking about it afterward. I’m open to different genres, but I’d especially like something with a strong atmosphere, some mystery or deeper themes, and characters that feel like actual people rather than just anime tropes.

I’m not really looking for something that relies heavily on fan service, and I’d rather avoid shows that are mostly nonstop fighting without much story behind it.

Some stuff I’ve enjoyed: Sonny Boy, Frieren, Death Note, Vinland Saga, Hunter x Hunter, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be similar to all of those. I’m more interested in shows that gave you that same “I’m still thinking about this days later” feeling.

What’s one anime you’d recommend if you could only pick one?

What to Watch? Need an anime that will completely hook me

I’m looking for something I can binge without getting bored. I’d prefer a strong story, good character development, and some mystery or unexpected twists.
I’m open to any genre, including older anime. What’s one show you’d recommend without hesitation?

What to Watch? Looking for a comedy/chill anime where mc learns a skill and eventually becomes good/great at it.

The skill theme should be one of the main focuses. I watched something like Your lie in april, march comes in like a lion, but it didn't quite satisfy my requests. I already watched blue period.

No romance drama in the anime, please. And preferably slice of life.

And I'm also not a fan of anime like basketball kuroko.

The types of comedy/atmosphere that I like a lot:

- Osomatsu-san

- Gintama

- Fruits basket

- Skip and loafer

Discussion Just finished Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki S2 and I'm honestly so annoyed😭

I just finished Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki Season 2 and man... Tomozaki annoyed me so much.

I absolutely loved the animation and character designs though. The characters look too damn beautiful That was honestly one of the biggest reasons I stayed hooked.

But then we get to the romance, and this guy somehow has no idea who to choose. Mimimi literally confesses to him, and that episode is one of the highest-rated episodes of the season.

Then I find out that apparently, in the manga, he ends up dating Kikuchi.

HOW?!

I just can't get behind it. Kikuchi is so extremely sweet and perfect that it feels unnatural to me. Mimimi has way more chemistry with Tomozaki IMO and actually challenges him.

Maybe I'm missing something, so please explain to me why Tomozaki x Kikuchi is supposed to be better, because right now I'm just annoyed.

What to Watch? Recomendations on anime manga or light novel with romance, fantasy, a not dense MC and a good ending. Spoiler

So ive just ended Call of the night manga. It was great but the ending made me enter this void of good but a bit sad. Ive been into anime and manga for like 8 years right now but i stopped like 4 years ago and returned now. Now im in search for some good things. I dont dislike romance without fantasy elements but i prefer it. I'll leave under here what i search and what i dislike or dont search right now, with also some animes and manga i saw that i liked.

I search:

-A good MC maybe a bit dense but not too dense. Meaning not too much nose bleeds, identifies feelings and do something about it.

-I loved Call of the night in part because the romance developed fast so i dont want just a kiss ending o a holding hands ending like bnha.

-I want a true good ending, maybe a post-life scene with kids or whatever. I dont mind open endings but call of the night left me a bit sad because it was too open. Another example would me unnamed memory.

-A MC that can do things, dont mind if its OP or not.

-Advances in the relationships, kisses or even s*x.

I dont like:

-Yuri or yaoi in the main protagonist.

-Girl MC sadly because i as a male were never able to truly enjoy.

-Too dense MC who dont realise nothing happening arround.

I dont mind:

-Harems, i like them but if they are organised and its not too big. The only exceptions to this were high school DXD and seirei tsukai no blade dance.

-Love triangles if the MC chooses at least a good option and not the classic i remain with the fvcking tsundere.

-Isekai topic, i tend more to enjoy it than hate it.

-Non fantasy romance can be included even though is not my preference.

-Bad animation if the anime is not action.

-Inces* if is at least well carried and realistic.

Examples of what ive seen:

Ive seen a lot and ive mentioned some above but more examples would be:

-Akame ga kill (another bad ending slightly better in the manga)

-Horimiya

-DomeKano

-Isekai wa Smartphone (slightly dense MC but i enjoyed the novels)

-Zero believers goddess

-Days with my step-sister

-Kurasu de nibanne

-Arifureta

-Guilty crown (another kinda sad ending)

-kuzu no honkai

-grisaia no kajitsu

-Re:write

-Re:life

-monogatari series (another time i dont like who the mc chooses i prefer shinobu (i like vampires)

-Castlevania

This are only some examples so similar things can also be recomended. I dont mind spoilers so be free to tell synopsis or explain a bit of the ending.

What to Watch? Looking for an Anime where the prota heals mentally

For context I just finished "Jack of all trades" the prota there get's kicked out of his adventure group because the think he is too weak and through this he gets self conscious and has trust issues but he manages to overcome it again

and while that wasn't the main theme of the anime I just found it enjoyable how the prota heals in the episodes.

I thought maybe there are other anime like this? It doesn't have to be the main theme of the anime.
