[Trope question] Death of a love interest near the end of the story, why is it so common?

Upvotes

Lately Ive noticed a horribly lazy pattern among story writing, is that a game will build a romance plot only to trash it by the end of the game. Prince of persia Trilogy (farah, kaileena; its a miracle they let farah remain alive in the last one), red faction armageddon, bioshock infinite Yakuza 1 & 2, rdr, life is strange, the list just goes on.

It was surprisingly refreshing in assassin’s creed revelations that ezio is able to have a simple life with sofia at the end.

It didn’t use to be the case, older jrpgs dont use this trope as frequently. Chrono trigger is creative with this, It’s the player that dies but then gets revived by his friends

What is a video game that ruined other games in its genre for you because it raised the bar too high?

For me it was Sekiro. The deflect system and combat flow felt so precise that almost every other action game with melee combat feels clunky or floaty now. I keep trying new action titles, but nothing really hits that same sweet spot of timing and feedback.

Rig r8 HS PRO or Arctic Nova 7p+ gen 2? PlayStation

Rig r8 HS PRO or Arctic Nova 7p+ gen 2?

So I’ve been trying to decide between these two headsets for a couple days now and still can’t decide so I’m wondering what you guys think. Im not sure if this changes anything but I am more of a solo campaign player. I still play with friends but I care more about the sound quality of my solo campaign games than I do my multiplayer games.

Hello guys, i wanna get into gaming, i want some help with this please

Upvotes

Hello guys, i wanna get into gaming, i want some help with this please

I have an Omen 15 Intel Core i7 9th Gen, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB, and i have 256sdd and 1TB HDD

I downloaded Spiderman Remastered files from fitgirl and downloaded all 76 parts into my HDD (to reserve some space to install the actual game in SSD)

I did all that, i have 117gb free in my SSD, but when i try to install it into my SSD, storage gets low and all the 117GB vanishes before installation gets to 30% and it just crashes and i get my full storage 117GB free again

So now i decided to download it in HDD wich has way more storage

Idk what to do, will it run well? Will it come back to its original size somehow lol? If yes, can i just copy paste it then back to my ssd?

Please help, i know my questions might sound dumb lol but just bear with me please ... Thank you

I want to know if they are worth it

I remember The Forest was a hype when it came out, a lot of streamers played it and then radio silence...

And that Chernobylite game...Nobody talks about it, although it looks cool. Is it bad?

Are any of them worth anything?

What is the best game released in last 10 years in your opinion?

What do you think is the best game released in last 10 years? For me it's Slitterhead and it's not even close. Incredible atmosphere and really good and unique gameplay mechanics. Also great replay value and solid challenge on the hardest difficulty. It's actually the only game released after 2012 that I would rate 10/10.

Does anyone else get so much anxiety about "losing" or "failing" that it prevents them from playing certain games?

Over time I realized why games were getting me stressed out, it was partly the games themselves and partly my personality. If you are prone to anxiety a lot of games can actually make that worse, especially competitive or difficult games. For me, games with teammates that rely on me were the absolute worst.

I’ve slowly phased out games that give me anxiety, it's just not worth the stress. Though I have to admit I miss Dota 2, sometimes I would get a match that literally brings me to the edge of tears (usually because some nerd can’t stop berating me when I have a bad game). I actively look for games that are actually relaxing or have no lose condition or way to fail. That way I don’t accidentally increase my anxiety by doing the one thing I do to relax after work lol.

Now I’m trying out games that actually deliver on the relaxing and truly stress free experiences. Narrative based stuff like Unpacking feels great. And for the social aspect I’m trying to find a game that I can play long term that doesn’t have the pressure of a typical team based game. Thinking about trying something like Palia, and definitely wanting to give Loftia a shot when it comes out, a friend of mine was in the playtest and said it was great and the community was really friendly. MMOs like that without combat seem like the perfect type of game for me when I think about it.

The weird thing is I absolutely love the social aspect of gaming, but most games focus on PvP or pretty difficult co-op where everyone needs to pull their weight. It feels horrible for me when I make my whole team lose because I’m not good enough, even when nobody is mean about it, I feel bad for failing the team.

Does anyone else cope with feelings like this?

[SELF POST] So many games are getting reboots, remasters, remakes and a lot, not all, but a lot of them are just bad, miss the mark, lose all sence of self, and don't even warrant to be made to begin with. What is a game, series, or franchise that you would like to see get a modern adaptation?

Whether it be in the form of a remake, remaster, reboot, continuation, sequel, or prequel, an original story within an already established universe. What do you think warrants new content and would like to see a modern release?

I'll list a few myself.

-Vigilante 8

-Road Rage

-Custom Robo

-Turok

-LotR franchise as a whole

-Tak and the Power of Juju

-Jack & Daxter

-Knights of the Old Republic

-Republic Comando

-The Force Unleashed

-Castle Crashers/Alien Hominid/anything from Behemoth

-Maximo

-Overlord

-Brink

-Bulletstorm

-Army of 2

-Mercenaries

-Black & White

-Dark Cloud

-Crimson Skies

-Prince of Persia

-Bomberman

-Sid Meyer's Pirates

-Splinter Cell

I'm sure there are others that I'll add to this list, but what did I miss that you'd like to see?

Also, if this gets removed because I broke some guidelines, that's perfectly fine, and I apologize.

Necesito ayuda para encontrar un videojuego

Hola!

Should I Play KCD2, Kingdom Two Crowns, or WoW TBC Anniversary Classic?

I'm preparing to go back to school soon and want to make sure I'm investing my free time wisely. Which game would be the best for making me smarter and academically prepared: Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Kingdom Two Crowns, or WoW TBC Anniversary Classic?

Please consider historical knowledge, strategic thinking, reading comprehension, and general intellectual development. I take my education very seriously.

I've seen many youtube videos defending them, and I'm not sure if they are doing it to draw attention or because plasmas are actually that great.

White Whale Should I get RimWorld or the Deluxe Edition?

I've had RimWorld on my radar for a while now. I keep seeing people's colony stories, and somehow every playthrough turns into a completely different disaster lol. One minute everything is going fine, and the next someone starts a fight and the whole colony falls apart.

I really enjoy management games where I can build things, figure stuff out and slowly improve everything, so RimWorld feels like something I'd really enjoy.

I'm just not able to buy it right now, so I've mostly been watching gameplay and trying to decide what I'd go for if I get the chance. For those who've played it, would you recommend starting with the base game, or is the Deluxe Edition worth it from the beginning?

Hopefully I'll get to experience my own colony disaster someday. 😂
