New to me. '99 z3m Coupe, 42, 000 miles on the clock and bone stock. Excited to be back in a car after taking hiatus. I owned a few different e36s in the early 2000s.

Rented this X7 M60i from SIXT Portland Airport last week. Initially I had a reservation for X5 or similar, but somehow this car popped up as a free upgrade and couldn’t say no to it, despite knowing there would be additional costs associated with driving a hungry V8 on the mountains.

So far, I have had zero regrets, just cause it is a very comfortable cruiser. The air suspension and massaging seats really help in reducing the fatigue associated with driving for 8hrs from Eastern Oregon, and at the same time it is very much capable of being one of the fastest ICE-powered SUVs one will ever drive in their life.

However, it’s time to take the car to a wash tomorrow and return it back over the upcoming weekend before I get to drive something else haha.

Decided to remove the swirl flaps on my n47 320d this weekend as the O ring on the motor was blown. Seems part of the swirl flap decided it didn’t want to be with the rest any more

Are BMW getting too expensive? Or are exotics getting cheap?

As the technology changes and new features are implemented and old ones replaced, what are some of your favorite features from older BMWs? For me, I miss the 'tap-to-cancel' turn signals. I know everyone hated them, but I miss it on my newer BMW. What' do you wish your newer BMW still had?

Hey guys, so I’ve come to the decision that a 5 series from 2017-2020 would be ideal for my job as I do a lot of highway driving and just driving in general.

I’m wondering if the 540i is really worth the almost $15,000 CAD premium for a less optioned out, significantly higher KM one?

There’s an abundance of 530i’s here in Canada and majority of them are loaded with options and low kms.

I’m currently daily driving an e46 325i but the fuel economy and road noise is not all that great. Main priority for me is fuel economy, ride comfort and road noise.

Got a crack and was able to convince insurance to let me go OEM for my 2026 X3. Only caveat is that I’ll need to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed
Is dealer the best option? My local dealer does the replacements in house. Not outsourced.

I got a quote for $3200, and noticed it also included a bunch of other seals and sound insulation foam

I called my local reputable glass repair shop , and they mentioned they don’t usually replace all that extra stuff. They quoted $2000 for OEM windshield

I’m only leaning towards dealer so I’m covered for warranty purposes, but also a bit weary since they might not be as experienced with it as a full on glass repair shop

Was gifted one of these.. not a BMW person really and have no real knowledge about these cars. Car is nice, interior is immaculate. Only 57k on the clock. But curious as to what I should look out for on these. Put some work into it already, fluids, plugs, pan gaskets, brakes all around. But this car seems to have hella accessories and features that my 22’ civic doesn’t even have. Any suggestions on what I should look out for? Any info would help. Thanks

My coworker gave me this old book full of concept cars, and while flipping through it I came across the 2011 BMW 328 Hommage Concept.
The second I saw the front end, I immediately thought of the new “ugly” X5 lol. And weirdly enough, seeing this actually made me appreciate the new X5 design a little more. Like damn, BMW really has been playing around with some of these ideas for a long time.
I still think the execution on the new X5 could’ve been better, but it’s really cool looking at an old concept from 2011 and noticing design cues that feel familiar now. Even if the new X5 wasn’t directly based on this, you can kind of see the design language BMW has been experimenting with over the years.
I’ve loved BMW since I was a little kid, so stuff like this fascinates me. Seeing old concepts and then recognizing bits and pieces of those ideas in production cars years later is just cool as hell.

Rented a 430i for a few days on a trip; don't get it.

I had never driven a 3/4 series before and was excited when Enterprise gave me one at the airport, since I know it's considered one of the best all around dailies.

1. Interior was nice to get into and was overall very well built and solid, don't really get the complaints on build quality. While the materials in my Mazda are notably more expensive with the real wood and nappa leather, it's as a whole not as well put together and doesn't feel as monolithic as the BMW.

2. Infotainment looks good and super high resolution, but a couple days was not enough to figure out wtf is going on and how to use it. Spent some time setting up Carplay and never used the native UI after that. Sound system was super disappointing, like mid-trim Honda CRV level, honestly couldn't believe it. The sound system in the Mazda is miles better.

3. As for "dynamic" driving, I must either not drive well enough to notice or it is truly just dull; this was primarily why I got excited to drive it. It doesn't feel any more "dynamic" than a CX5. Steering is lighter, turns out when I googled it the 430i is actually heavier AND makes less power than my CX5, and only handles maybe slightly better by virtue of not being an SUV. Otherwise feels completely average and nothing at all like some ultimate driving experience. I also felt like there was a huge delay between asking for acceleration and finally getting any. Brakes however were outstanding, felt like an on/off switch that you could still use comfortably.

4. For whatever reason the 4 series is absurdly comfortable, I don't understand how a car with no sidewall can ride so smoothly or why a soft top convertible can isolate the cabin so well on a highway. Engine/transmission generally very smooth as well. Seats and seating position are perfect as well, it feels like you could be 7 feet tall and still fit comfortably. Suspension is substantially better than mine and the seats are also much better.

5. I like that there is actually a noticeable difference between drive modes, in many cars it feels like a fake switch that doesn't do anything except to confuse the transmission.

Overall the opposite experience of what I expected, superbly comfortable and refined while feeling numb and lazy. Maybe that's just a new car thing in general

Longtime driver of 3 series (335i, 328i and a manual 320i) but now in an X1 that works really well for a lot of things. But, I want to have fun again. Thought a 230i might do it and had a real positive test drive, but got stuck watching in-depth videos and drooling over the M240i and cannot shake it. Someone talk me back into a 230i, anyone?

My BMW G80 M3 Competition M xDrive LCI in Black Sapphire Metallic paint and Silverstone interior, enjoying the sunshine before the typical British weather kicks in.

I got this around about after a year of owning my X3 M40i xdrive 2019. It would come on for a day and then go away for like a few weeks then come back. However, now it stays permanently.

There is nothing wrong with the car or the way it drives. Its mostly electrical I think. I had a look online and it seems to be a common fault with the X3s/X4s.
I’ve tried the fixes people have recommended on bimmerpost but nothing helped.

Got it looked at and the rear axel was showing 6000c for temperature so naturally replaced the temp sensor however, the problem is still there and still showing high temps. Bmw themselves are charging £250 just to diagnose it and also said to leave the car with them for atleast 3 days however, they suspect it to be longer and will not be giving me a courtesy vehicle hence why I don’t want to leave it with them.

It’s been over a year and that fault is still there, but the car drives perfectly and its bone stock. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Im trying to figure what exhaust set up i should do on my F32 430i, im not trying ti make it super loud or like a fart can. Im trying to get a nice refined deeper tone and split it to a dual exit, one on each side. My idea was to split the rear section with a Y-pipe and replace the muffler with 2 good quality mufflers like a Vibrant Ultra quiet on each exit but im honestly not sure. Ive never done an exhaust on a 4 cylinder, all I know is I want the tone to be deeper and more refined and not sound like a straight pipe honda😂

And advice woukd be greatly appreciated, im trying to keep it somewhat budget friendly and im not trying to change my downpipe or go catless yet if I even do down the road

Running genuine 19” 442M alloys on my F36 with stock M Sport suspension. Tyres are 225/40 R19 front and 255/35 R19 rear.

Looking for an OEM+ stance but want it noticeably wider without any poke. Would you guys go 12mm front/15mm rear or 15mm front/18mm rear ? Pics of similar setups would be appreciated.

I am looking for a BMW for under 10k with the main reason of longer distance commuting. I have been looking mostly for f10s specifically 535i's and would like to hear some opinions from other people. If anyone has any other recommendations I'm also open to hearing them. I did previously look at e90s specifically the ones with the N52 but if a f10 is well respected in the reliability side I would rather have the extra space/comfort. Thanks.
