Hello fellow residents of Brookline, I’m a newcomer! We somehow got to rent a pretty sweet apartment near Brookline reservoir and Route 9. Any reviews or ideas on this neighbourhood and place?

We’re also all 26 year olds - phd students or work in corporate

Would love to hear your opinions

Garbage bags over walk signals for 4+ years (Carlton and Mountfort)

The walk signals at Carlton and Mountfort have had garbage bags over them for over four years now. Called the Town. Called the Brookline Police. Called BU. Called DOT (since it's near the Pike). Everyone takes notes, but still not fixed. Anyone have any ideas? Near two large pre-schools.

Brookline Parks Are Worth A Visit

For those who have already voted, or need a break from election posts...

I own a phone that includes GPS navigation and a map application. I've lived in Brookline for thirty-three years. Yet, I still manage to get lost in Brookline, and to enjoy discovering new places and new experiences. A few weeks ago, I biked to Lost Pond Sanctuary. Though searching for Lost Pond included getting lost myself, not knowing exactly where I was encouraged me to pay attention to a small toad hidden in the brush, the smell of dried grass and the sounds of birds sending mating calls or warnings, I'm not sure which.

On July 5th, I finished the Brookline Park Passport challenge — visiting each of the thirty-two fields, gardens, small parks, playgrounds, trails and wild spaces on the Parks Division's list. In these visits, I saw how these spaces are treasured threads of our civic fabric.

housing In search of 2 bedroom for November

ISO a 2 bedroom for mid to end of November move in- specifically in Brookline (Coolidge Corner), Fenway or Back Bay. Must be pet (small dog) friendly. Wish list includes washer/dryer in unit but could live with onsite.

I’m a professional with solid income and work from home.

Looking for no commission rentals, so realtors with their own listings or owners looking to rent direct.

Thank you!

Walgreens on Harvard Street

It sucks. Today, for example, they tell me my prescription was ready. They then texted that the pharmacy was “temporarily closed”. A few hours later they texted the pharmacy was back open. I walk there and it’s closed even though it’s well before the normal closing time. The guy said that second text was a “glitch”. Then he said they were short staffed today. I wouldn’t mind so much if this were a one off. But their customer service has been spotty at best over the years. Thankfully I’m getting new insurance where cvs is the preferred provider so I’ll be transferring prescriptions. Thanks for letting me rant!

How realistic is it to rent a parking spot near St. Mary of the Assumption, and where do I even start looking?

Looking to rent a monthly parking spot with 24h access in Brookline, ideally within a short walk of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish (Linden Place / Harvard St area). Driveway, garage, condo deeded spot, small lot — anything works.
It’s for one sedan, no oversized vehicle, and I’d be parking overnight most nights. Happy to sign something and pay monthly. Any leads or names of buildings worth calling would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Does the fast DC charger in Coolidge Corner work?

I just spent 30 minutes trying to charge my Chevy Bolt on the fast DC charger on Beacon Street across from Paper Source. I spoke with two support people on the phone and tried two different apps, and it still was unable to charge.

The charger belongs to a company called Greenspot, which I haven't seen anywhere else. Does anyone know if this charger actually works, and do people successfully use it?

It wasn't the end of the world. I moved to the level 2 chargers in the Centre Street parking lot and those will do for what I need. But it would be nice to have the fast DC option.

history Currently Being Demolished.

Hi all—as an almost lifelong resident of Brookline, I just wanted to share what we’re too often losing in favor of developer mcmansions that do nothing in the way of addressing housing affordability.

I don’t know why the town allows for this (other than being paid off by developers?) but it’s one of the many great homes that has turned to rubble over just the last 5 years.

Apologies if this isn’t the venue, but I did want to share what beautiful homes are going the way of the dodo under the guise of “housing affordability.“

happy weekend:)

Excuse me can I have 50 cents

I love the "excuse me can I have fifty cents" guy who sits on the benches on Harvard st. I've never heard such a specific request from a homeless person I giggle every time he asks. I usually like to give him a buck or two, he's a friendly guy.
