Politics Check your candidate’s stand on Medicare for All before you vote today

Despite Medicare for all being in the state Democratic platform, this state (yes, we can do it here first) legislation has gotten nowhere for decades. If you go to the masscare.org website you can see whether the candidates you are choosing have pledged to support Medicare for all. Which, by the way, would save the state nearly $30 billion as well as saving 98% of us money, remove for-profit insurance companies from deciding care, and expand care to include dental, hearing, vision, and long-term care. Send people to the legislature who promise to sponsor & vote to support this critically needed legislation. Happy voting!

Politics REMEMBER: No political/campaign activity within 150 feet of voting locations, how to report:

MA Election Advisory #26-05 outlines electioneering is prohibited within 150 feet of polling locations and to report violations. To report:

- Alert the Presiding Officer at the location, this is usually the Warden (police officer at the site). If unavailable, alert an election worker at the site

- ALSO CALL ACLU of MA at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) to report these and other violations. Multiple violations already reported today.

Thank you for voting today and keeping election locations fair and safe!!

Discussion In Fitchburg, the Board of Health and the Parks Department recently installed boxes with Nalaxone at a few parks. This has caused a stir online with critics saying this was enabling the city’s drug problem. Has your town installed similar things and what are your thoughts?

Politics Seth Moulton’s Record: A Constituent’s Perspective

I have lived in what is now Seth Moulton's district (MA-6) for decades. In 2014, for his first congressional run, I was an enthusiastic supporter. I contributed to his campaign and voted for him because, as former U.S. Navy, I wanted to believe his "service" agenda, which supposedly was about self-sacrifice in the service of others, not self-dealing.

Problems appeared almost immediately. His office was unresponsive. Calls about issues were met with promises of follow-up that never came. The message was that constituents were not a priority. In 11.5 years, I have never heard from him unless he wanted something from me.

Then, with only two years in Congress, he tried to oust Nancy Pelosi from House Democratic leadership. He tried again in 2018. The basis for his attempted removal of one of the most effective Speakers in recent history was his "new leadership" slogan, which has persisted since then, and means nothing.

In 2019 we had to endure his preposterous run for President, which served nothing but his ego. Again, it was all about "new leadership." Notably, it ended in humiliation.

To my own discredit, I tolerated Seth Moulton's self-service through October 2023.

But at that point my support ended because I could not tolerate his facilitation of mass atrocities, documented here. Nor could I tolerate his attempts to suppress the speech of those who opposed it.

So now Seth Moulton has challenged Ed Markey for Senate. And of course his campaign themes are his tired and meaningless favorites: "service" and "new leadership."

But there is no redemption for facilitating the murder and maiming of civilians.

So on September 1, this 11-year constituent of Seth Moulton will vote for Ed Markey, a man of integrity and bedrock decency.

General Question How is Stoughton?

Is stoughton still a chill town?

I grew up in brockton and I always remember stoughton being white working class but recently i talked to some friends from Newton who called it "a rougher area of mass." Am I trippin or was stoughton chill? I checked the news reports and they don't look all that great..... Gangs, stabbings, corrupt police. Is stoughton really that bad or is shit just overblown?

Event Anyone going to the Hammerfall concert in Worcester?

Upvotes

Hammerfall is one of my favorite bands and I'm finally seeing them in concert on September 16th. Just wanted to see if anyone else will be heading to the concert. I'm not from the area but wanted to meet up talk music or find cool things to do in Worcester.

Any recommendations? Let me know!
