Planet Fitness Replacement - Dennis area
I can't handle the S. Yarmouth PF. It's poorly run and too crowded plus there are too many people using machines as rest points or to scroll. I only want to lift weights a few times a week and a few machines. I would like to go somewhere close to my home in Dennis. Any suggestions that won't break the bank?

Menauhant East beach parking
I’m not a Falmouth resident. Town website says Menauhant East gate is open 24 hours. If I just want to watch sunrise, does it mean I can just drive in at 6am and park and leave at 7 without paying? I’m fine with paying but just want to know if I can park in that lot. Thanks.

Has anyone been called for Grand Jury service in Barnstable County?
Received a summons and am interested in learning about general time commitment each week. I imagine it’s less intense than Suffolk County but who knows?

Cat Shelter Recs (& more pls!)
My husband and I are looking to adopt kittens. I’m wondering if people have any recommendations of where to adopt from on the cape or where we shouldn’t adopt from whatever reason. That’s my main question, but jf people also have vet recs, pet insurance recs, etc, I would be happy to hear those too!

Hyannisport breakwater jetty
Going to hyannis this weekend. Can I fish on the hyannisport breakwater jetty? Is there parking around? And what type of fish can I catch there?

how has this place stood longer than all of my childhood staples?
i have never seen someone in there or parked there (that car is my dads) but yet it has been here for forever. with everything being so expensive on cape how is this place still standing? i swear if there was ever an apocalypse on cape, cockroaches and this shady swimwear store would be the only survivors.

Off-Roading / Dirt-Roading
I've been building a list of public/4x4 accessible dirt roads/trails on and around the Cape, and it would be great to get out there with a few other rigs.
Anyone interested in some dirt road exploration? I'm also into Mountain Biking and RC Crawling.
\ Please don't ask for the list as it will only be shared in person to limit the traffic on the remaining dirt roads in the area **

Cape Cod Uber Drivers Scam
I am so sick and tired of Uber drivers on the cape trying to pull various scams where they want you you to pay them directly, not use the app, give you their number, canceling rides and then showing up asking you to just pay them directly and not even cancel the new driver coming, etc.
There is NO BENEFIT for us to deal directly with you. If we have an accident we’re screwed! It’s not tracked. And many of us have a specific credit card that we use that is tied to the app.
If you don’t think Uber pays you enough, which I do agree with, then either find another job or better yet fight back and unionize. And don’t vote for Trump and his magat buddies either. Most of us have zero interest in using your number instead of the app which is much safer. And I will report you to Uber.

Do the Sandwich beaches still charge for parking after 8/21?
The last day of Sandwich beach staff is Friday, August 21, 2026. Since staffing has ended, does that mean no more parking fee collection?

Don’t accept that the Cape’s challenges can’t be solved. Vote this Tuesday.

Election Day is Tuesday, September 1.
This three-way race for County Commissioner could be decided by just dozens of votes, and the differences between the candidates are stark.
I refuse to throw my hands up and accept that Cape Cod’s challenges are simply too hard to solve. And I refuse to watch our community bury its head in the sand as we face generational demographic shifts and record unaffordability.
I’m proud to be a born-and-raised Cape Codder, a veteran, and to have spent the last five years representing Falmouth on the Barnstable County Assembly.
I’m running for County Commissioner because I love this place, and because I know we can do more to make it possible for people to actually live here year-round.
Housing. Sewer and septic grants. Childcare costs. There’s a lot of work ahead.
I’d be honored to have your vote on Tuesday, September 1.

Ice Cream based on different tastes
I know there are old threads on "best" ice cream on the cape. But people have different tastes on what makes great ice cream.
I want dense ice cream with a ton of butterfat and not too sweet. That can be very rich for some and it's totally valid if someone wants their ice cream sweeter than I do.
I am visiting now on vacation for the first time and I have only tried Smitty's. It was good but not as good as a pint of Ben and Jerry's from the supermarket.
So what is the place with the richest, densest ice cream?

Chatham Bars That Aren’t Packed?
Staying out here for the weekend with some friends, we’re mid-late 20s, looking for a place to get drinks where you can sit and maybe hear the person you’re sitting next to without screaming. Always been a small dive bar guy honestly. Tried the squire last night and the it pretty much wore me out in about 10 minutes of shoulder bumping and going “WHAT DID YOU SAY?”

20 Mile Run near Hyannis
Hello! I will be in Cape Cod where I’ll need to do my 20 miler on Friday. Any recommendations for a good trail? I’ll be staying in Hyannis but can drive. Ideally looking for somewhere car free and a couple water fountains on the way. Bonus points if I can swim somewhere post run!

Noise regulations
Are there any local or state laws regulating the volume of vehicle sound systems with windows closed on public streets beyond the 11 PM quiet hours cutoff in Yarmouth?
