I just noticed that the default time controls for rapid are different between the browser and the Android app. In the browser, the defaults are 10, 10+5 and 15+10, while in the app it's 10, 15+10 and 30. All time controls appear if you click More Time Controls, but it seems strange to me that the defaults are different.

I can't conceive of why I would be muted from the subreddit for submitting this appeal? I don't think my original post broke any rules, but the fact I got muted for SUBMITTING AN APPEAL is infuriating. And they muted me from messaging them, so I can't even respond? Like what the fk.

Mine has to be the smothered mate there’s something ridiculously satisfying about a king being completely trappad by it’s own piesces ,I’m curious about your favorite type and what makes it so satisfying for you

I can understand in blitz or rapid that pc and mobile players would get matched. But I cannot understand how you could pair the two in bullet. Not being able to make multiple premoves is an insane disadvantage

After a year long break (with only a couple games in between) I started playing again frequently. However, I'm doing pretty badly with white... At the 1000 elo range, what are the best ways to improve? Especially as white?
My all time win rate with white is similar to that of black, but the win rates in these pictures are just of the last 3 weeks when I started again, and I can't seem to be consistent with white

Winning beginner but not intermediate. Should I play begginer or intermediate

So I'm trying to make a chess bot. It's around 1950 elo the bot is called Lynx and I'm making a program that's called lynx test, the same idea as Fish test, but for my ai bot, this is a pretty big project. I'm working on it's around 10 days of developing this new AI but my goal is 3500 elo with lynx test this is planned to be a 2-year-long project starting from now also in a few days it might go open source on GitHub. I will notify you if it goes open source but if you would help me to train this AI it would be a pleasure.
WARNING:
Also this is not for cheating unfair play and unfair advantages please don't cheat.

Looking for a 2000 rated chess blitz player for a short training session. Got a tournament coming up and feel like I still have a few blindspots
We play one blitz game and then briefly go through the game/mistakes afterward. Around 20–30 minutes total.
Paying $30. DM me your chess profile if interested.

I used to have a 1100-1200 elo but I got off chess for about 2 years and half when I made my new account I started losing to much (I became 400 rated) then my muscle memory started to kick in and I am now approaching 1000 in this time with impressive winning streaks so can this make my account get banned for cheating or am I good and don't have to worry?
r/Chesscom • u/Standard_Swordfish94 • 4h ago
…on how to stop worrying about elo??
I want to change that mindset because it makes me a little anxious whenever I start a game.
I’m a beginner so this might sound ridiculous.
Please share some thoughts.

For a while I played chess from the app since the website always crashes and doesnt let me start a game, but after coming back to chess after a few months I realized that I can no longer play chess on chess.com on the app which sucks, is there a way I can play on chess.com or am I forced to play using a different alternative?

Hey everyone, this is my first post in this sub! And I need to rant!
I've recently had a pretty big fight with one of my friends (...well ex-friend) and so I wanted to remove him from my chess.com friend list. But every time I click "delete friend" and i reload the page he's just right back again staring at me, no matter how many times I try it! It infuriates me a lot, actually, because I really hate this guy now.
I googled if anyone else was having this problem and I found a thread on chess.com itself from 3 (!) years (!!!) ago stating this exact problem and it still hasn't been fixed!
It's bad enough the site is becoming more locked behind paywalls every day, but they demand so much money and can't even fix this stupid little bug??
Anyways, now I've found his sub and I've wanted an outlet for my anger and hopefully find other people who feel my pain.
Cheers

I'm curious how people here actually handle opening preparation and memorization.
For those who have their own opening repertoire:
I'm doing some research into this and would be really interested to hear what people think. Thanks everyone :)
Edit: If anyone would be willing to help out I’d appreciate it if you answered this 1-3 minutes google form for my research. Have a good one :)

Can someone please explain how this is a checkmate please as couldn't the white king go to c1 or is it an M2 situation that I am not seeing?
