Many people believe that After The Odyssey's Huge success, Christopher Nolan should make a proper terrorising Horror Film, and people are hoping, he should seriously consider making an Adaptation of “Dante's Inferno”

Basically, Titanic is one of my favorite movies, if not THE FIRST FILM that, as far as I can remember, ever made me cry as a CHILD. Unlike all the other clowns who say that the only good part of the movie is the ship sinking (because yes, I've actually seen comments like that), Titanic is and always will be one of my favorite love stories.

Now, just today I came across this "meme" claiming that Rose and Jack were a couple of narcissistic, unfaithful adulterers. Basically, they portray Rose as "the bad guy," a woman who, despite being treated like a "queen," ran off with "the first homeless guy who gave her a quickie during a three-day trip." This isn't anything new, at least on the Spanish-speaking side. I've seen hundreds of opinions like this, and that's why I wanted to ask here on r/cinema. The translation of the meme is:

"Growing up means accepting that this guy always treated Rose like a gentleman, while that miserable woman was cheating on him with a bum."

God... I genuinely hate these memes. You have to remember that this was an arranged marriage set up by a mother who only cared about no longer being a seamstress. Rose would rather have killed herself than marry Cal (even before she met Jack).

There's one thing I do agree with: the time period and social classes operated very differently from today. Basically, arranged marriages were completely normal back then. Daughters were forced to marry rich men and things like that. So maybe, for context, from their perspective, yes, Rose was the bad guy.

BUT FOR THE WORLD THAT WATCHED THE MOVIE FROM BEGINNING TO END AND CLEARLY SAW THE SITUATION... seriously, I wonder if there are actually people who sympathize with Cal.

The Movie would be called People Born 1950-2000 Are Giants in the movie as the title says every Human Born 1950-2000 have become giants. People Born 1950-2000 is People Born 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. People Born 1950-2000 have become giants due to being called luckiest and best. In the Movie for every birthyear from 1950-2000 shows on screen as well as both Men and Woman for each year from 1950-2000. People Born 1949 and Before and People Born 2001 and After have become tiny. As someone Born 2001 and After this would be a great movie to show the issues of 1950-2000.

I would highly recommend giving this a try if you want a movie with which you feel connected, and the blend is commendable.

A slow-paced movie. I found it very enjoyable and relaxing. A plot of easy understanding. A breath of fresh air in the post-apocalyptic genre movies. If you think you’re going to watch an action movie, you’re wrong. I loved the atmosphere and the plane scenes. This could be a depiction of our society if COVID-19 had gone wrong.
Also, why are the reviews so low?

Over the weekend, I watched this movie and ended up sobbing for at least 45 minutes, basically from when the final act began until the credits rolled.

I cried my heart, my liver and my lungs out. I genuinely don't know what it was about this film that hit me so damn hard, but it went deep. And I think being from Northeast India, particularly being Manipuri, had something to do with it.

Obviously, Thai and Manipuri cultures aren't the same, but there were these little cultural nuances around family, food, elders, obligations, affection, guilt and the complicated ways we show love without actually saying "I love you" that felt strangely familiar. There were moments where I wasn't just watching a Thai family. I was seeing little pieces of my own.

And man, oh man... if you're craving a genuinely heartfelt movie, watch this.

It's not trying too hard to manipulate your emotions. It just quietly gets under your skin, sits there, and then absolutely wrecks you when you're least prepared for it.

I finished it and just sat there for a while.

5/5 on Letterboxd. Haven't given a film that rating in a long, long time.

For me, it has to be Fight Club. The book is solid, but Fincher took that raw material and turned it into an absolute cinematic masterpiece. Even Chuck Palahniuk admitted the movie’s ending streamlined the whole story way better than his original text. Which adaptation completely ruined the original version of the story for you?

Spent 3 years on this forever WiP project of mine :)

This is my take on a cinematic journey through (mainly) Western civilization. In the transitions I did not just prioritize chronology, but also setting, and perhaps most of all: theme, mood and subject matter.

I would like adjacent movies to be in dialogue with each other and also tried to create rhymes and echoes across the full sequence, e.g. Chariots of Fire > Race > Contact.

Prioritized throughline over comprehensiveness. Sometimes I really wanted to include certain history such as the French revolution, etc. but I just couldn't find the film chain to bridge it seamlessly. Another example is WW1 which is mostly present as negative space. I wanted to prevent oversaturating with war movies, and give WW2 more space to breathe.

I have focused on films released from the 70s onwards, for visual/acting consistency, and due to my own strong preference for color films, so unfortunately that disqualified some highly acclaimed historical films that otherwise would have fit nicely.

My personal genre definitions:

Epic = multiple characters and events over a significant timespan
Biopic = deep single character study (even if fictional)
Drama = focus on event(s) and/or multiple characters (but lacking the scale of an Epic)

When I was watching this movie for the First time, I almost closed my eyes for 30-minutes. Those early mummy scenes just like real horror movie.

What was your first watch experience like?

Their is something about watching this movie at 12 AM. The Aesthetics, the songs, the whole dad scene, the ending.

I mean that can be said about all wong kar wai movies but Fallen angels is my fav.

Most film friends around me have Chungking Express or In the mood for love as their favourite.

I cant be the only one as Fallen angels as the favourite.

Honestly I’ll cheat and I’ll say the back to the future franchise instead just one of the movies. Genuinely my favourite franchise and I grew up watching those movies, the story is so insane and I love how one leads into another and sometimes overlaps, the visuals are so beautiful and it’s a peak childhood movies all around to be honest.

In my opinion, it’s a bad movie that relies solely on sexual scenes. I have no idea how a big star like Keanu accepted bein part of it!
