I have a bunch of working motherboards / back shells with UMD drive attached from consoles that ive ripped screens, button pads etc. out of and I'm not really sure how to proceed. All ive ever done repair wise for psp is unclasp a ribbon cable and replace the part. How difficult are reshells? Does anyone have a good source on them? Is it even worth reshelling them or should I just sell straight up on ebay? Do the UMD drives sell well separately or should I just include with these? Idk lol im lost

is this fan noise considered normal/quiet for a PS4 Slim after replacing the thermal paste?

Hey a friend of mine gave me these 2 ps3 and both have ylod. I think that the slim is those chips that fail but the phat has a weird behavior. If someone knows why it does this pls help.

Are there any trustable shops where I can still send my Ps3 to be repaired? Symptoms look like YLOD.

The HDMI port replacement on PS3 Slim part doesn't seem to line up...

I'm currently trying to replace the HDMI port on my PS3 Slim, but the issue I'm having is actually getting the replacement part to fit.

I don't have the original port to compare it with, as I already had a (botched) repair done at a repair shop to the port a long time ago. It has since broken off again.

I purchased a replacement part advertised as fitting the PS3 Slim 2000 series of consoles, but the part doesn't appear to line up properly with the board. I've tried a few times now, and no matter what I do with the heating/soldering, I just can't get it to line up.

The pins and the "grounding legs", from what I can see, just don't seem to match the board very well, and I'm not sure what to do now.

I've attached an image of the new part and the board to this post. Bear in mind that the old port is the same, but the legs have simply been snapped off by the pervious repairer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

​My PS5 Slim is making a constant, low electrical hum from the back near the power cable. It sounds exactly like a 50Hz/60Hz mains hum.

​Here is the situation:

​The console is COMPLETELY OFF (not in rest mode).

​The power cable is 100% securely plugged in.

​It is not super loud, but I can hear it clearly from about 60 cm (2 feet) away.

​Is this just normal standby/transformer hum for the Slim, or should I be looking at a warranty claim? I don't want to go through the hassle of exchanging it if the replacement will just do the exact same thing.

​Has anyone else noticed this on their Slim?

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to micro-soldering (as you can probably tell by the torn pad).

​I bought a PS4 Fat with a SAB-001 motherboard from a friend that was stuck on WLOD (White Light of Death). I replaced the Panasonic HDMI IC, but when measuring in diode mode, I’m not getting the expected values (highlighted in red).

​If I remove the IC and measure the pads on the board again, I get OL. The line that reads 0.085 goes to a few capacitors and then goes into an inner layer of the board, so I'm not sure where it leads from there.

​Any advice on what to check next or where this line leads? Thanks!

Hey guys, does anyone know what kind of solder paste syringe is needed to solder the Nuvoton chip on the PlayStation 5? I have this one, is it okay? Or is there something on Amazon so it arrives quickly?

Unfortunately, two pads are missing here on the Southbridge. But I don't see where the pad circled in red is supposed to connect to. The one circled in green is clear.

Can anyone help me?

As title says. Is this the right way to mount and solder tantalum capacitors? There’s no need to bridge anything?

I had my ps4 cleaned and repasted a few years ago, eventually I got bored of my ps4 until recently.

After trying to play some of my new games, the error popped up, and sure enough it was very hot after a few seconds.

This evening, i cleaned it, brushed some small rust spots and reapplied thermal paste, I followed a youtube guide and an ifixit teardown guide.

Tried again, shit down. Updated to the last version, again. Reset to factory settings, and now i cant even turn it on, it beeps and then turns off by itself.

It's clearly hot, the fan spins normally, the optical drive works perfectly, everything was reassembled correctly except the case, which I didn't bother with since it does not work.

Can this issue be fixed? Repair services where I live are very expensive and lacking in quality.

Unable to update system software dude to error code SU-101312-8. 

I’ve been unable to use my ps5 for over a month at this point. I wasn’t using my ps5 often when this issue first popped up, so I didn’t mind so much. But I’ve really been itching to play again, and I haven’t been able to figure out what the issue is. I’ve done some research and found out that this may be related to my disc drive? I have the regular PS5 model with a disc drive. I did notice that my disc drive no longer functions…I’m unable to put a disc in. It’s like my disc drive is just locked up. If I click the eject button, it just beeps twice signaling there is no disc inside. 

I’m extremely confused because I hardly ever used the disc drive to begin with considering most games I play are digital. So how the hell did my disc drive get messed up? And I don’t have any kids around to put something foreign into my disc drive. 

Is there a simple fix I’m missing? I seen online that it could be as simple as the disc drive power connector being loose. What’re the chances that is the case? Would my PS5 still beep twice when pressing the eject button if my disc drive had no power? I’ll open up my PS5 to check the disc drive power connection if that’s likely the issue. 

If it’s not as simple as a loose power connector, what could it be? How expensive is the repair? 

Any insight is very welcome. :)

This is the ps3 slim

I recently recapped this gamecube that was having some issues. Board was a bit rough, and after recapping it would attempt to spin and read the disk, but quickly stop after. I took the caps off, cleaned the board, and then noticed what looks like damage by C431. Any suggestions for repairing? Any other suggestions for where to look for additional issues?

I got a 360 slim off of Facebook marketplace recently. It turns on but will not display on hdmi, and ive tried 4 different cables that all worked on other devices. I even tried it on several different TVs and still no display. It did show once for a few seconds before going to black again but i couldn't get that to happen again after many attempts. I took some pictures in hopes somebody could diagnose any specific issue. I eventually used compressed air and scrubbed with a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol to clean the port but its still wont work.

I had what i thought was a short circuit caused by the loose rattling RF shield in the system. Removed it, and now it turns on, but if I shake the 2DS it turns off. Is there anything that I can do? Theres no loose piece in there anymore so I have no clue.

Any tips on how to fix this?

Hey meine Switch Oled hatte ein fehlgeschlagenes Software Update und deshalb nun im schwarz Bildschirm und hatte den Fehlercode 2168-0002. Ich hatte schon jegliche Versuche gemacht mit Tasten Kompinationen aber keine Antwort. Sie wird jedoch vom Dock an genommen da kurz beim verbinden mit dem Dock ein grünes led kurz aufleuchtet. Ich bin offen für Hilfe und Tipps um das Problem zu beheben!

I am incredibly confused, would I have to get a new save card, or a new port all together?

Hi I broke the power supply connector and i was wondering if I could solder the wires on the board and how can i see in what order they need to be soldered. I have never soldered but i cant find someone that does it in my area.

Pretty much the title. Black, vertical line appeared on the Console. Owner took it to a shop for repair, they gave it back saying they couldn't do anything. After that the screen wouldn't turn on, although you could see the backlight.

Cleaned the port and the cable pins, reseated and got that image. Have ordered the parts, but would like to hear some thoughts about the possibility of port damage, which would be beyond my skills.

Hello, all. I have a Nintendo Wii (I assume it is the original model) that was hit by lightning over a decade ago. The audio works just fine, as does connecting Wiimotes. However, there is no video output. On a TCL Roku TV, the screen is blue and displays "No Signal." My setup includes an original power cable and the AV red-white-yellow cable, which is passed through a mini AV-HDMI adapter plugged into the TV. I have tested another Wii with this same setup, and it plays without issue. I have decided to open the broken Wii to see if any components were noticeably damaged by the lightning surge years ago, but the things I have tried haven't fixed the issue. I have tried:

- Testing a different AV cable with the mini AV-HDMI adapter.

- Testing the AV cable on another TV that has RCA ports (no adapter necessary).

- Pressing the reset button while the Wii is powered on but the AV cable is unplugged.

- Lightly dusting the boards.

None of my efforts have been successful. I have found that there is a missing component labeled C309 on the PCB beside the 070XHA2 chip, but I don't know much about this part or if it has anything to do with my current conundrum.

I have attached a picture of the primary board for more context.

Honestly, it's a somewhat difficult problem to explain, but I'll try.

This PS4 turns on and works without issues, but after playing a game for a while (about 20-30 minutes), the screen freezes. If you listen closely, you can even hear a "click" coming from the hard drive. I have to force it to shut down and then turn it back on, and when I do that, the console starts up normally, as if it only had a problem shutting down improperly.

Regarding the textures that appear in the video, on this PS4, when you start playing, the textures load very slowly. Before you say it could be the game, well, it is partly true, but I have another PS4 (the original "fat" model) with the same game, and the textures load on time; this issue doesn't occur.

I can tell you now that the problem isn't the hard drive, since I tried three different hard drives with 100% life remaining, and the problem persists. It's worth noting that I received error code CE-34335-8 three times, but it didn't happen again after turning the computer off and on. I disassembled the computer and checked the voltage regulator IC that supplies 5V to the hard drive, and it was receiving power.

Honestly, I didn't see any hardware problems, but I suspect the issue lies with the HDD's voltage regulator IC, the southbridge, or the RAM, coinciding with the texture problem. But I don't know where to begin.
