RECOMMENDED Basque "German" Pils

Bavarian Pils. Basqueland Brewing. Pilsner - German. 5.5% alc.

The aroma is clean, with notes of baked bread, honey, and citrus. The flavors carry through to the palate. It offers a malty entry that evolves into a dry, crisp, and refreshing profile, with a lingering bitterness. For a moment, it transported me to Munich.

Beer Porn Finally visited Russian River

Back in July, I took a solo trip to Northern CA specifically to visit Russian River. The newer location in Windsor is massive, more like a huge restaurant. They had just released some DDH Pliney and it was awesome. The next day, I took the SMART commuter train south to Santa Rosa to visit the original location and got the full flight. It was a challenge to finish it myself, so I'd recommend bringing some help if you plan on getting it. After a few hours there, I took the train further south and visited Lagunitas. Figured I should since it wasn't too far away. Also stopped into Henhouse across the street.

RECOMMENDED Bakes Brewing - Route 4-N (13%, Quadruple IPA)

Post image

Bakes Brewing with another heavy hitter, Route 4-N (13%, Quad IPA) Extremely smooth/creamy upfront taste, with a bitter-sweet backend! Slightly thicker and creamy mouthfeel with the slightest boozy taste in the back! For a 13% beer this one drinks similar to a 9%er for sure! Dangerously good, and well rounded taste! I don't know how they make these beers like this! 🍻

Discussion Day twelve of drinking through a bunch of old beer in my fridge using glassware that is as geographically close as possible

2017 CCB Dis Legomenon
Calusa 1st Anniversary Tulip
Refrigerated since new

Well after taking a weekend off to… well, drink normal booze, let’s jump right back into it with a TEQUILA-BARREL AGED TRIPEL/AMERICAN GOOSEBERRY SOUR BLEND.

Sounds fantastic, right?

I first have to come forward and admit that I have no idea what a gooseberry tastes like. I had a double El Catador membership when this came out so I’m sure I’ve had it before, but all I can remember is that I didn’t really enjoy it much, which probably explains why I ignored it for so long.

Nine years of life in my basement fridge seems to have actually helped it a bit. This is another beer with a whole lot going on but it seems to kind of work well. Tequila barrel is still there along with notes of pear, other fruits and kettle sour. As it warms the Belgian tripel side comes through more.

I think I have two more old CCB bottles in there. A shelfie I did a home wax job on in like 2014, and what I consider to be the holy grail of beers that I had no reason to ever open.

I enjoyed a good chunk of West Coast IPA and a contender for the best Marzen of the season from Escape brewing.

I frequent Tampa, actually lucky enough to have gone prior to my Trinity trip for Barrie and the new Green Bench taproom.

Going to Rimouski area of quebec in the upcoming weeks to go to Le Ketch. I am hoping to find cans of Bad Bones, BreWskey, Messorem etc. Any leads on stores that may potentially carry these cans would be much appreciated.

10% DDH TIPA. Citra, Citra Cryo, Freestyle Nelson, Limequat. Exceptionally smooth, drinks like 5%. Maybe the best IPA yet from Human People.

Beer Porn Alesmith - Tropical Party Tricks IPA

Tropical version of their Party Tricks IPA. I've had both on draft at the brewery. Both are excellent, but I don't remember loving the tropical version as much as I'm digging it right now. I was a HUGE fan of pineapple Sculpin back in the day. While this isn't the same, it's in the same genre, and it's really tasty. Looking forward to stopping by Alesmith soon for one of their Oktoberfest events.

Bon Secours Prestige. Brasserie Caulier. Belgian Tripel. 9% alc. 24 IBU.

Fruity aroma with white pepper. Sweet, malty entry with notes of honey and bread. Flavors of ripe pear and apricot with peppery notes. Very dry, herbal finish with a citrusy touch of orange zest. A good Belgian Tripel.

Curious how many craft beers are in circulation with a beer about DTrump.

This one is from New Zealand. Delicious, tastes more like a pale ale from the Pacific Northwest.
