(EU Server) Just venting, sorry.

I want to understand what you're saying. Please the amount of times I exclusively hear Russian is insane. ESPECIALLY important in ranked, yet it happens there too.

Game Feedback Matchmaking is absolutely not fixed at all

I've heard it said that 33% of games are out of my control, 34% are in my control, and 33% are guaranteed wins.

Yet, I seem to be consistently lumped into teams that are destined to get their faces stomped in. Whether by that's by complete memesters deciding to choose right then and there to grief, the enemy team having archon-level players for some ungodly reason, or a player on my team so green they might as well be Viscous' colour.

I really don't want to substantiate the "Loser's Queue" superstition, and I realise that OCE is a limited user pool... but seriously, it sucks the fun out of the game. At the rate I'm going, I might as well take a Ladbrokes bet against myself. At least then I'll get something for losing.

Game Feedback Like whats the point of Yamato?

Every time i play her, she seams like a worse Apollo. She is great at getting in, but unless the enemy is an isolated vindicta or something, you don't have the damage to kill them before help shows up. And at that point, your only way of getting out is popping ult and hoping to god they aren't good at movement. Every time I try making her work all I think about is "man, I would rather play any other spirit burst character". Seams like the kit wants a lot of effort, but gives weary little pay off.

Question Simplifying the game?

I come from fighting games (just as a background) and I’m really struggling with finding a way to not get overloaded while playing this game. Not to sound insulting or anything, but I really don’t get how people can say fighting games are so hard they’re impenetrable for newcomers, when this seems so much more difficult.

I’m trying to break down ways to simplify the game so I don’t get so overwhelmed. For instance, in fighting games, I can learn movement, combos, defense and use those fundamentals to learn the rest of the game and deeper mechanics. However, Deadlock feels too overwhelming to build fundamentals.

Even something as simple as the shop leads to too much anxiety with items and what to buy. I think the sentiment of “Just buy left to right” is kind of bs. I’m always thinking about who I’m lanning against and with, who their carry is, who is the most fed, what spike I need and when, is this utility better now, how late are we and what should I buy, ect.

This contiunes with everything else like movement, rotation, team fights, farming, neutral objectives, map awareness. Every game it feels like I have to manage so much that I’m stressed the entire match and not having fun or making the right decisions. I constantly feel like I have to juggle so much and if I ever make one mistake, buy the wrong item, miss one wave, show up late to a fight, we’ll lose the game and it’ll be all my fault.

I hate letting my team down (one of the reasons I like to play fighting games), and I’m not delusional enough to blame my teammates for my less then 30% win rate. I just want a stepping stone to learn the game off of because whenever the matches starts, it feels like the ground sinks around me.

Bug Infinity low priority queue

So I went to warm a meal between matches and when I came back I was with a 24h ban + 1 low priority match.

Waited for the ban and went to play tomorrow morning (around 7am GMT -3)

I've been searching for matches for 4+ hours and didn't find any.

Restarted the game a few times, tried to make a steam community game and nothing.

Bug Mo & Krill Bug Abuse

It has been 178 days since Mo & Krill gained the ability to enter the tunnels around the map. It has also been 178 days since Mo & Krill could completely take middle walker uncontested by staying in the tunnels beneath it and spamming Scorn.

Sure, it's certainly not the most optimal strategy but the fact remains that if a Mo & Krill is in the game your middle walker could potentially be completely removed despite your best efforts.

I really hope this is looked at some point soon as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has submitted a bug report on the forums for it. It does not happen every game but when it does it is extremely frustrating. I'm thinking the easiest solution is just lowering or moving the tunnel directly below the walker.

Game Feedback Ranked matchmaking and the current balance feel really frustrating

Hey everyone,

I've been playing Deadlock mainly these days and absolutely love the game. It's been a long time since I've put this many hours into a game, so I really want to see it succeed.

That said, my experience with Ranked lately has been pretty frustrating, both because of the current balance/meta and because of some of the matchmaking experiences I've been having.

The current balance heavily favors Spirit/burst

I'm mainly a fan of M1/gun carries. I've mostly played Gun/Afterburn Infernus(left him ages ago as his these builds have fallen off long ago), Drifter, Haze, Viper, Warden, Venerator and Wraith.

Right now, the meta feels extremely Spirit and burst-heavy, with a few heroes whose power level seems so high that they become borderline unfair.

Celeste is probably the biggest example for me. A half-decent Celeste with Witchmail can easily 1v2, and sometimes even 1v3, without fully utilizing her movement. In the hands of someone with really good movement, she becomes extremely difficult to interact with.

Then there's Lash.

A Lash can basically stay in the air permanently while shooting you with a gun build using things like Headhunter, Siphon, BSR and Sharpshooter. Playing Viper into this feels almost impossible to interact with.

He also:

  • Heals a ton in lane with Flog
  • Can constantly climb somewhere high on lane and drop a 500+ damage combo on you
  • Heal himself through the combo
  • Escape with his 2
  • Has an extremely strong teamfight ultimate throughout the entire game

Vindicta feels similarly problematic. She deals huge amounts of damage throughout the game, and once she gets her ult online she can basically one-shot people who are already around half HP.

As Viper, and even Haze, I feel like I simply cannot take a fair gunfight with her while she's flying. Even using Knockdown doesn't necessarily solve the problem because she gets so much free damage that she gets to build items like dispell and counterspeel while still outdamaging your full damange build.

With one or two strong frontline heroes protecting her, it can feel like a free win.

Some gun heroes have basically lost their identity

Venerator has a few things going for him. He can self-peel somewhat and has a stronger early game, but I feel like he falls off pretty hard later.

His ultimate also feels strange late game. Eventually your gun is doing more damage than the ult, so the ultimate mostly becomes useful for executing high-HP targets.

The ULT reload time is also extremely long, and you're missing out on lifesteal/Siphon value while using it.

Venerator felt better as playing him like abrams, building melle and getting warpstone and phantom strike,

Wasnt this hero pitches as first pure gun hero with all orange scalings ? I never felt threatned by a gun venerator, could easily shut him down late game with viper, ive win 1v1 against venerator being 10k down in lategame

Haze feels downright unplayable after the recent nerfs, and ironically those nerfs were aimed at Spirit Haze.

Drifter feels similar. His gun build has been nerfed to the point where it doesn't feel viable, and even after the Spirit nerfs, his most viable build still seems to be Spirit.

But isn't Drifter's identity supposed to be about finding 1v1 duels and permanently stacking gun damage?

If the gun-damage build isn't actually playable, then what's the point of that mechanic?

only Wraith is viable but most of her damage is spirit from cards so she technically not a gun hero just needs gun to charge cards,

Mirage is similar, all spirit damange using gun

Gun items also feel terrible compared to Spirit items

In general, I feel like gun items are in a pretty bad state.

There are only a handful of 6,400-cost gun items that actually feel worth building in most games, while a lot of the remaining items just feel like fillers.

And then you have Metal Skin, which can essentially shut off gun damage for 5 seconds.

If we're going to have an item that can completely negate an entire damage type, shouldn't there be an equivalent item for Spirit damage?

It feels especially weird because Spirit heroes can still get surprisingly high gun damage while investing relatively little into gun items, while also nuking you with Spirit damage.

As someone who mainly enjoys gun carries, the itemization currently feels very one-sided.

The matchmaking experience is another issue

The other thing I don't understand is the current matchmaking.

Obviously, every competitive game has unwinnable and unloseable games. That's normal.

But some of the games I've been getting in Ranked feel unusually extreme.

For example, today I had an Oracle 6 game where our Drifter was AFK at the start.

He eventually started playing around the time our Blue Guardian was already down and Green had already been ganked twice. So we were effectively playing 5v6 for the entire early game.

He then proceeded to go 0-5 before the game had even properly reached the mid-game.

I genuinely think there should be some sort of early-game surrender/termination system for situations like this.

If a player misses the first two waves and is AFK for a significant portion of the opening, why should the remaining 5 players be forced to sit through a 30-minute game?

The worst part isn't even necessarily losing. It's sitting in a doomed game for 30+ minutes while everyone starts flaming each other and the comms become increasingly abusive.

TL;DR

I love Deadlock and have been playing it a ton, but Ranked currently feels frustrating because:

  • Spirit/burst heroes seem significantly stronger than gun carries
  • Celeste, Lash and Vindicta feel particularly oppressive
  • Gun builds for heroes like Haze and Drifter feel nearly unplayable
  • Gun itemization feels much weaker than Spirit itemization
  • Metal Skin has no real Spirit-damage equivalent
  • Some heroes can build relatively little gun damage while still having extremely high gun DPS + huge Spirit burst
  • AFK/early-disconnect games can force you to waste 30+ minutes in completely unwinnable matches
  • The current matchmaking seems to produce some extremely lopsided games

I'm not saying gun carries should be buffed across the board or that every Spirit hero is broken. I'm more interested in whether other players are experiencing the same thing.

Maybe I'm just playing the wrong heroes/builds, so I'd genuinely like to hear from people who play gun carries at higher ranks.

What do you guys think about the current state of gun vs. Spirit builds and Ranked matchmaking?

I think Gray Talon looks dumb. His bow looks unfinished (probably is) and his general appearance isn't very cool. Yet he has a very cool kit.

He's not even cool like shaman wise. Look every archetype in the universe is out there at this point. GT is easily bottom.

Kelvin also is very meh and yet arguably has one of the most innovative kits.

On top of that I don't feel like either one of them fit the aesthetic of Deadlock at all.

Discussion what do you guys think of enemy outline mods?

Post image

there’s been a lot of discussion lately about “quality of life” mods like qolock and topbar plus, but what do you guys think of enemy outlines? (not esp) other games like overwatch have outlines built in and some could make an argument that this is an accessibility change, especially with how visually cluttered deadlock can get at sometimes. what do you think, is this cheating or accessibility?

Discussion Warden never gets banned

Post image

Its just strange seeing as he is definitely one of the strongest heros in game right now (at the very least stat wise, hard to deny 1,700 debuffs on a 6sc cd flask is op with 6k hp) yet you will almost never see him banned. I dont ban him either because Im too afraid to ever risk letting Celeste get played, but whats the logic for everyone? Even though hes strong do you not find him too bad to play against, or is there just too many more annoying heros to where the 2nd highest winrate hero is allowed to be in every game?

His ban rate only hovers around 2% right now, while Celeste is over 50% ban rate comparitavely

This is not a complaint post by the way, I dont really mind facing him, just a very crazy ban rate comparison when the 2 heros are both the MM dominators at the moment

Game Feedback My experience with the matchmaking update

Upvotes

First of all, I'm a deadlock player for almost 300 hours and have 208 wins. I'm a bebop and Seven main and sometimes get Abrams in ranked bc he's in roster.

This matchmaking update seemed awesome at first and that 8 calibration matches went pretty well and I started off as an Initiative 5. I was happy that I will finally play with people who actually knows how to play the game and have fairer matches. I've never been so wrong in my life. I played many ranked matches and fell from Initiative 5 to Initiative 3. I feel like game wants to punish me for every win I get. Whenever I win I match I lose 5 or more matches in a row. And I lose not bc I die lot or I don't play good, no we lose bc there are always at least 2 ppl who keeps dying and feeding enemies. Here are my last 3 ranked matches as examples:

  1. Our team had a Mcginnis who died only ONCE in the entire 50 minute game. We lost all 3 guardians at the first 10 or so minutes and he said "This game is unwinnable. I'll go afk so gg" and just left. He didn't even bother to return and check the game he just stood in the base and did nothing. Deadlock really needs a banning system for afk players. We were doing our best by clearing waves of minions, taking rifts and even putting down walkers. But that idiot never returned and I left the match before we lost so it wouldn't affect others in my team bc they did their best.

  2. I was playing Bebop this time and things started to go really bad so quickly. In only 12 minutes, enemy Lash had a 13 killstreak or something. I checked the k/d/a's and saw that our yamato was 0/15 in the first 12 minutes. Not only him venator and warden were also dying randomly. I killed Lash after a weirdly terrible 1v4 and game got even worse. Those 3 ppl, warden, yamato and venator, just kept dying over and over again and fed the enemies more and more. We lost the game bc 3 ppl on our team couldn't do anything except making the enemy team stronger.

  3. This match was much quicker than others so torture ended fast. I was playing Seven and we started really good. I was 2/0/4 and graves was 4/0/2 in the first 10 minutes. We were pushing haze and vindicta so good. But apparently rest of the team didn't wanna win. Dynamo couldn't heal anyone on time, graves was jumping from lane to lane and not really helping anyone, enemy bebop was getting fed by our celeste and shiv and overall, team was garbage. And they almost blame me for not farming enough. I had 32k souls in the first 30 minutes into the game more than most of the players in the entire match but I was the problem to them for not farming enough. Whenever I tried to farm, my team forgot there were 3 walkers they needed to protect andwe lost all walkers one by one. They were telling me to farm but they kept dying whenever I didnt help them. In times I tried to farm and no walker went down, entire enemy team hunted me. I had to deal with 1v4's again and again, not bc I went too far away from the base and tried to push lanes on my own BUT BC MY TEAM HAD NO IDEA WHY WE SHOULD STICK TOGETHER. After the game I looked at our k/d/a's and celeste was 0/9 and shiv was 2/8.

These are only 3 examples from many matches.

Overall, I think this matchmaking update didn't fix anything. In fact, I started to lose more and more games. Burst damage and bullet heroes become unstoppable after a killstreak, I've never seen enemy teams getting idiots who sell their game and only my teams get them and I really don't understand how everytime enemy team is well coordinated and hard working and my team is filled with people that make me question if this win count limit thingy is actually working. And if I somehow win a match it's never an easy game but always a tiring and long game that lasts for at least 50 minutes.

Question I love Deadlock and im not having fun anymore, am i the problem?

I've been playing since it got "leaked," and I've always had a lot of fun, even when we had that weird URN period.

I was very excited for the ranked update, but I can say with confidence that I'm ending matches more frustrated than ever. I was Arcanist before the recalibration, and I still sometimes felt like I could easily play against people above my rank.

Now I am Seeker, and it's terrible to play in. I don't think I'm the best player ever and should just climb easily, but I feel like it's so hard to win right now, whether I'm playing support or carry, and I feel like the outcome of the game is way more luck-based than skill-based (due to the incompetence of my team/the competence of the other).

Most of my games now are what i call the worst outcome ever, the types of games that the enemy team take all the walkers by simply pushing, and my team dosent even touch a single walker, and still the game takes 40~ minutes to end.

When I'm lucky, I get a few win streaks, but that doesn't last long and I go back to where I was before. (On my best days, I can only play twice.)

I know I'm just ranting at this point, but the feeling I'm getting is that I can play with better people, but I need to not only grind, but also have luck, and I feel stuck all the time. Perhaps I'm just this bad.

Do you think I'm just bad and should suck it up, or is there something different about the game?

Game Feedback There needs to be another shortform casual gamemode for this game

Standard mode takes too long to complete

Street brawl is just full of players who optimized the fun out of the gamemode with constant graves/vindicta/kelvin always 1 siding the entire match

Ranked .

I feel like there needs to be something that doesnt take >50 minutes to finish without the bullshit of people optimizing the fun out of a supposedly "randomized" gamemode.

Game Feedback "Just buy Slowing Hex and Apollo's Useless"

FIVE. SLOWING HEXES. AND HE STILL DOMINATES. This character is fundamentally broken and has been ever since release.

He has WAY too much sustain, mobility, and damage. He is NOT BALANCED. One of those need to go. Either make him a slug, make him hit like a sponge, or make him break like glass. NO CHARACTER SHOULD HAVE ALL THREE AT THIS LEVEL.

Viktor at least has zero mobility.

Wraith doesn't have sustain.

"Just buy slowing hex" HE HAS BASEKIT COUNTERSPELL AND CAN EASILY BUY DISPEL AND INDOM.

And even IF the slowing hex hits, it's only 3.5 seconds. That's enough time to get him low before BAM he gets ALL of his mobility and heals it all back.

ADDITIONALLY his Ult's hitbox is SO stupid. You can't avoid it unless you're 5 meters away from the hitbox. WHY does it still hit me when I'm out of LOS? It's horrible to play against.
