Hello, A few months back I bought this 99 Dakota with 60k miles that sat outside for a long time.
The truck runs really rough and I cannot figure out why.
I have done the distributor, crankshaft position sensor, ignition coil, ignition cables, spark plugs, timing chain, swapped the intake plenum plate to the thicker aluminum plate, did a compression test in each cylinder and the pressure is between 150-180psi, fuel pressure at the rail is 48psi and cut a massive slit in exhaust above the catalytic converter just in case I have a clogged cat.
My computer reads that the short term fuel trim and the long term fuel trim is +32%, so from my understanding is the PCM is adding a ton more fuel for some reason.
I also have codes P1491 and P1495
P1491 reads that it has something to do the radiator fan, but it’s a clutch fan…and there are no wires running to it.
I’ve read in forums that sometimes that code is related to the EVAP system.
The P1495 code to my understanding is the solenoid is clogged or has a bad connection to it. I’m going to tackle this code next.
And I ordered a smoke tester to see if I have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Another clue is that it sometimes pops through the intake.
I hope someone can give me a clue because I know I’m missing something.
Can anyone please help, I would be very thankful!
