Incredibly, incredibly tired of these low effort posts. No, I don't care that it makes you feel superior to others. No, I don't care about the 37 jokes about the size of the driver's genetalia.

The internet is already a giant cesspool of negativity. Don't add to it.

Discussion / question How’s the reliability on these? 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 with the 6.6 gasser. It would basically be my daily driver that occasionally tows my boat and gets me up to the mountain 30 times a year. Also looking at a 2023 1500 with the baby Duramax. How does reliably compare?

First truck. 05 dodge ram 1500 laramie quad cab with 207,025 miles as of right now. Leather interior, heated seats, sun roof. Bought it as is for $3500. Has wrangler duratrac rt tires and vision rims.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it except rear passenger window motor died and the typical hemi exhaust manifold leak which is quiet compared to others ive heard lmao. Stock exhaust so its pretty quiet once it warms up and the manifold leak goes away. Is it worth fixing the manifold?

Trailer curtains being slashed at night is a real problem for truck drivers, so I decided to build a system that tries to prevent it before the curtain gets damaged

The system mounts to the mirror brackets, monitors the area alongside the trailer, and turns on a bright, focused spotlight if someone lingers nearby.

The project has come a long way since my last update.

Assembly

When it came time to assemble the device, some of the actual components were slightly different from those the enclosure had originally been designed around. So I rearranged the electronics inside, designed the necessary internal mounts, and also designed a separate mount for the spotlight.

Once everything was ready, it was finally time to 3D print all the parts and assemble the first fully working prototype.

First installation

With everything ready, I installed the complete system on my Volvo FH for the first time.

Everything fit exactly as planned.

The enclosures fit perfectly, the mounts were solid, and the LiDAR, spotlight, and electronics all ended up exactly where I’d intended.

Honestly, this was probably one of my favorite moments of the whole project. Seeing something that had previously existed only as CAD models and separate parts on my workbench finally installed on a real truck was incredibly satisfying.

What’s next?

The prototype is now fully functional, but there’s still plenty I’d like to improve.

Right now the control panel inside the cab sits in a temporary enclosure on top of the dashboard.

My next goal is to integrate it into the factory radio/equipment slot so it looks like it came with the truck.

I also want to hide all of the wiring so nothing is visible either inside or outside the cab.

Once that’s done, it’ll finally be time for real road testing and, I’m sure, another round of improvements.

Discussion / question Anybody know 4th gen Ram 3500s?

My dad was sold this from a dealership.

Nothing but problems, clock spring, u joints, turbo , ECM, PCM, wont re-gen. Then abit more investigation i find it is most likely 100% a vin swap..

The VIN in the window is a sticker that is peeling off with no rivets in it and no plate behind it even

The door sticker was put on in the very suspicious way and when you look up all the codes it says the code of the factory paint was grey.. which this truck was lime green and wrapped gray to match the original color.

Can't find a VIN anywhere on the frame I've been under it for 2 days with a steel brush. I need to know the location please if anyone has photo

Discussion / question I want to make my short bed into a longer bed with a truck bed extender, is that legal?

I want to add one of these onto the back of my truck and bolt some sheet metal onto it and basically make my entire truck bed ~3 feet longer. I also want to make a topper to put on my bed and the extension part of it. Would I need to put blinkers/brake lights on the back with a license plate holder to keep it street legal? I could use some suggestions to help keep it street legal… thankyou.

What are these bags?

Just bought a 2026 Silverado 1500, checked underneath and saw that she’s sitting on bags, strange bags.

I’ve expanded them to 22psi and still can not find a brand name, S/N, model number, or any other identification on the rubber, brackets (that do appear to look somewhat custom), or the air lines. It’s almost as if the previous owner just custom fitted some serious heavy duty bags to this rig.

I can confirm they do have an internal bump stop as I’ve been driving on these with 0 psi without a single issue. It also appears that these bags, at 0psi, keep the stock ride height and geometry because the front end needs 1.5” to level the rake. I’ve been trying for too long to identify these bags, thank you.

One of our work trucks is a Ford F250. We noticed this clip on the the passenger side door jamb which appears to mean "No gas." There is nothing obvious behind it and no one had any good guesses. What the hell is this?

Discussion / question What are the advantages of a 5th wheel hitch over a standard gooseneck

All of my trailers are gooseneck so I have no experience or opinion on 5th wheels.

Flatbed and dump 5th wheel trailers seem to be very rare. I only ever see them on livestock trailers or campers

Before my best friend passed away he bought this truck that me and him started working on and painting together. when he passed his parents sold the truck immediately and i've been trying to find it or a similar one ever since 2021. i've run all the pictures i have through ai but we all know how reliable that is. the last time i saw it was early june 2021 and the last things i remember are that it was a older black (chevy?) that had big tow mirrors we painted white with purple and grey paint splatter. i believe we plainted the chevy emblem and the dash vents the same pattern. i have a couple of random photos where you can see bits and pieces but the main identifying factor i remember is that it had those doors that only open when you open the front and they're hinged the opposite way like suicide doors

Need help looking for first ram or other kinda fuel efficent truck

Hello everyone.

My landrover got old and with diesel prices kinda harsh on my wallet to daily it, so im looking for life/work/ long range truck and need some help choosing.

Background:
I live in europe and im willing to import truck with some dents or mechanical problems.
Im working on my cars myself so for maintance and repairs i look only for parts price and how long of a job/ how big pain the repair can be.

I want a big car/truxk that can haul family, stuff, tents, bikes. Sometimes 2-4K pounds of trailer but rarely. Can go slight offroad/backroad. Will cover 400mile trip in comfort.

I know there are more fuel efficent ways, but i have things to do and stuff to carry in places, sometimes off pavement.

Older (2009-18) trucks seems reasonably priced.

Now i need help mainy with choosing engine/gearbox/year.
I will install LPG but both 3.6 and 5.7 seems good for it (indirect injection systems)
Would love double cab(crew max?) with longer bed.

Is 3.6 with 8hp good choice? Was it produced in doblecab with 6.4 bed? Is it enough engine for calm driving? I dont need hemi. Probably. Im used to 136bhp in my discovery2 and id used to tow 7000pounds with it.

I just need reasonable truck with good fuel efficency at 65-70mph mostly flat driving that i will be able to self diagnose and repair.
I can pull my engine or gearbox myself. I would just rather not.
3.6 seems like an easier option but i may be wrong.

Thank you all for any input.
