This is a lovely cat I’ve been working on for a long time! I added the harsh orange and hated it almost throw it out but my husband and some friends though that I should just finish her and see what I think I have decided to finish her and give her to one of my friends that’s would appreciate her more then I would (I LOVE the cat outline and the way the cat came out! I HATE the background I don’t understand what I was thinking) but this is her in all her ✨“glory”✨

Have been working on this piece for about a month and did the last few stitches tonight! As someone who really doesn’t like to do satin stitch, this was a huge challenge for me. I still have a lot to learn with needle placement and angles but for the most part I am really pleased with it!

Haven’t started yet, but I was wanting to have a gradient sunset background of an embroidery patch.

I didn’t want to get stuck filling in every single spot with stitches for the patch to have some flexibility, but mainly because I wanted to focus on the subject more.

Gradient would be ideally purple, pink, orange yellow (ish)

I have a lighter yellow 100% cotton I could use as a base.

Best way to go about doing this?

It’s only going to be 1” x 1” patch on a corduroy hat, so the hat likely isn’t getting washed often.

Looking for cheapest and best way to go about trying this out (is food dye an option?)

What’s the best way to start and stop threads for a tidy back on a sweatshirt? Does it need anything special to survive the wear and wash of a sweatshirt? Like is it better to tie knots with tails or something? I know you can put a backing on to protect the threads, but I don’t think I want to do that. Thank you!

Hey y'all, im hand embroidering lowly worm on a tote bag because i was inspired by one i saw in a shop that had too short handles and I didn't want to pay for. I started the project and realized that i don't have enough red thread for the apple car, and can't buy more because ive had this thread forever and have no idea where it comes from. I was going to fill the car using backstitch since its too big for satin stitch and i dont understand how to do short long stitch (not sure if thats the right name) but its not a very thread efficient stitch so it isn't optimal if im short on thread. Any ideas for stitches I could use? Its to fill a large area. Thanks!!

There's paint from where she moved her foot accidentally, the back is hysterical to me, and it's imperfections make this one my most valuable embroidery I've done 🥰

PS embroidering cursive is hard

I’ve been wanting to start embroidering for a while, but tbh it is pretty intimidating. The opportunity appeared because my husband saw this cannabis bud work on a Reddit page, and asked me if I could try making something similar for his desk, and I thought it could be a good opportunity.

This is the result, and it turns out it was very beginner friendly, I used two stitches: fishbone and French knots. There are an unimaginable number of mistakes in this French knots mountain hehe

I had some issues though, like my needle didn’t “smoothly” go through my fabric, I was never sure of the amount of thread I needed, everything looked like “finished too fast” or “knots knots everywhere”, I used a printable washable type of paper for the stencil but the end work lost all its softness because the glue was all over it after washing.

So if someone can kindly help me with the right way/material it would be really nice. Here is the list of materials I used for reference:

- raw cotton (like the ones for eco bag I guess)
- a simple needle with a “bigger” head for more than one thread
- no-brand thread I bought on Amazon
- I printed a drawing I did on Procreate using this washable paper

My main questions:

- What is the correct amount of thread to use?
- how to stencil without this paper? Considering I think I’m not skilled enough to free hand a drawing on the fabric
- I feel like I used the wrong fabric and needle, so what do you usually use? (I used what I already had at home)
- How many “threads” to work with? I used mostly 2 or 3 at the same time.
- How to protect my fingers? Rigid protections doesn’t work for me, because I hate losing the movement. I used a common Band-Aid, but it fell off so often.
- I feel like I wasted to much thread, how do you deal with this?

Any tips on how to work, draw, stitches, tools etc are more than welcome.

I dont think I did it justice. I might just redraw the design and start over.

What are your thoughts? Is it giving Rocky horror or something else?

These eye-trick designs were really satisfying to stitch. Each one, the whole time sketching it out, stitching, and painting, I didn't know if the 'trick' would work. Then at the end, I would be happily surprised. They were much more forgiving than you'd think!

Technically 2nd project but that was a starter kit with the design already printed so I don't count that.

The biggest issue I had was actually drawing the design, and making sure it looks right & balanced before I start embroidering—the exciting part. My impatience is my greatest rival xD

I complained to my boyfriend about some mistakes I made with this work, and he just smiled and said "This is fine." Made me laugh :)

I've not posted for a while, because I've been working on this mammoth patch - Which I've finished now! Took 122 hours and 16 meters of thread just to whip stitch around the edge!

It's going to take pride of place on the back of my patch jacket.

Found the pop art design on Google and kind of adapted it as I went 👌

Happy September 1st! This piece took me about 2 months to finish while traveling. And is my favorite piece so far! I am obsessed with cheese. The jam jar was my favorite part to embroidery so I saved it for last!

First-time poster here, and I just wished to share some of my recently completed embroideries and say hi! I've been doing embroidery for a few years now, but decided back in January this year to start figuring out how to design and draw my own designs.

All of these I've designed and drawn myself on my art tablet, and then hand embroidered. Lots of experimenting figuring out how to get everything to work, but I'm loving it.

Just finished my 2nd ever kit! The light blue is my first kit, moon / dark blue is the second project. The stitches are starting to feel better. Any feedback is welcome! (but also please be nice 😂)

For holding embroidery strings and needles: the stringdleholder! Not technically embroidery, but a tool made for it. I saw a little needle-holder book in Hobby Lobby and thought that I could probably make something like it to suit my purposes. I also wanted some way to keep all the little partial sections of embroidery floss organized until I got to them, and hopefully this will help (though I can already tell I have too many 3-stand pieces floating around to fit in here.

Made with felt, two pieces of cardboard, a little bit of gray craft foam, white glue, and some green glittery hot glue that could not be removed from the glue gun once I put it in there years ago.

Hello! As the title suggests, I am needing help determining which method I should use to embroider the pink flowers on this arch. My instinct is to go with woven wheel (like you would for roses) and then French knots for the yellow center. I am open to suggestions. ESPECIALLY if there is a YouTube video demonstrating your suggestion. TIA!
