First time trying the long and short stitch (finally!)The picture given wasn't clear. I used the stem stitch for the outline and chain stitch for the top of the vase. Did I do too many stitches for the long and short part? Should I make the longer parts even longer?

Made this for a friend's birthday, first time turkey stitching.

Open to some suggestions on how to tackle this! These are on the pockets of some jeans for my daughter, and I'm unsure how I want to do the eye fill. Should I...

1. Outline, then do a satin going the thin way all around the perimeter?
2. Outline, then do long-short, keeping the direction more aligned with the eyes (like have it follow the natural shape)?
3. No outline at all?
4. Something totally different?

This is my first time doing clothing that's to be worn more than once so curious what's the best route and open to any and all suggestions!

The red outline was done with split back stitch using 6 threads, the webbing was all done using single thread. I'm really pleased with how clean it's come out so far, which is why I'm asking for help!

I taught her backstitch a couple weeks ago. Since then I’ve been letting her draw on scrap fabric and embroider her drawings. Yesterday she learned French knot for the turtle’s eyes.

Haven’t started yet, but I was wanting to have a gradient sunset background of an embroidery patch.

I didn’t want to get stuck filling in every single spot with stitches for the patch to have some flexibility, but mainly because I wanted to focus on the subject more.

Gradient would be ideally purple, pink, orange yellow (ish)

I have a lighter yellow 100% cotton I could use as a base.

Best way to go about doing this?

It’s only going to be 1” x 1” patch on a corduroy hat, so the hat likely isn’t getting washed often.

Looking for cheapest and best way to go about trying this out (is food dye an option?)

What’s the best way to start and stop threads for a tidy back on a sweatshirt? Does it need anything special to survive the wear and wash of a sweatshirt? Like is it better to tie knots with tails or something? I know you can put a backing on to protect the threads, but I don’t think I want to do that. Thank you!

I really wanted a rosy maple moth to add to my moth collection. It's fairly rare and I didn't want to buy a real one, so i just made one myself.

It’s finished! I’m beyond happy with how this turned out. It had to have taken somewhere around 20 hours. A piece made almost entirely of Beads and French knots are not for the faint of heart!

This was my first time trying to submit something to the state fair, and I was so excited to get second place in my class! It also gave me the confidence to share here for the first time, so, hi 👋

My instinct is to go with woven wheel (like you would for roses) and then French knots for the yellow center. I am open to suggestions. Hey y'all, im hand embroidering lowly worm on a tote bag because i was inspired by one i saw in a shop that had too short handles and I didn't want to pay for. I started the project and realized that i don't have enough red thread for the apple car, and can't buy more because ive had this thread forever and have no idea where it comes from. I was going to fill the car using backstitch since its too big for satin stitch and i dont understand how to do short long stitch (not sure if thats the right name) but its not a very thread efficient stitch so it isn't optimal if im short on thread. Any ideas for stitches I could use? Its to fill a large area. Thanks!!

I'm working on a project as a gift that involves several embroidered patches attached to a black winter/fall scarf. This is my first "real" embroidery projects (outside of small crafts that didn't take much time). I was looking for some advice on the following points:

• Scarf material: I'm looking for something soft and on the thinner side of a scarf, what would be a good choice for holding the embroidery?
• Attachment method: sewing versus attaching a heat-applied backing and ironing on?

Single strand DMC for most of the piece, silk threads for the lotus. I tried a few new things with this one, And was very happy with the outcome. The reference image was by Liz Doiron Photography. Enjoy! Edit: the fabric was already patterned when I bought it, I can't take credit for the watercolor look! The blue is also a separate piece I laid over the base work at the very end.

I made my friend a ring holder for her wedding! It took me many many chours and there are mistakes but I’m very happy with it. She loved it. I free hand drew it and used the design as inspiration /went off of tutorials from @luneandher from TikTok.
