[AI GRIFT 101] Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman to Freelancers: “Fuck You”

Recently, the Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman has taken to being 'candid' while flexing his undeveloped 'thought leadership' muscle. In start contrast to employees like u/fiverrhq, who constantly tell us how much Fiverr loves and cares for us and hangs on our every word, their boss has a different fucking take.

I would argue a refreshingly honest one:

“Why do you think it’s my responsibility to make you better as professionals? Fuck you.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FI11AKM5PY

Well, Micha, that would explain why Fiverr is overrun with AI frauds and scams at the moment, with corporate apparently completely uninterested in doing much to combat it at all. After all, there are more important things to do, like redesign a forum into an unreadable mess of hot garbage.

Anyway, since we're doing honesty, Micha, I'd like you to address this at some point. You're a trained legal professional. You know exactly what you're doing. In my other post about Fiverr's AI terms, I showed how if you sign up to any of Fiverr's AI stuff - the personal assistant, Go - gives you - or rather Fiverr - the legal right to fuck freelancers over indefinitely.

Do you have any more 'fuck yous' hidden up your corporate wizard sleeve? Since we're being so fucking candid about it.

No? Well....

How About Fuck You?

Two days ago, this was posted:

About a week ago, someone commented that the company He/She work for was looking to hire someone and had an old Fiverr contact they'd worked with in the past, when they wrote to offer the job, Fiverr sent them some rather invasive advertising suggesting they not hire that person, saying they offered an AI service that worked better and faster.

At the end of the day, they deleted the post.

That might give you an idea of the state of the platform. I think it's disgusting behavior on Fiverr's part. I hope all this behavior eventually has consequences for the people responsible (although unfortunately, it's unlikely) Sauce

So, Fiverr's not just after your training data. It's also after your clients. At least, what's left of them after the 100-200k quarterly exodus of active buyers (see: Fiverr's financial reporting).

Anyway, I got ChatGPT to pick out some quotes and offer counterpoints, since as the CEO of Fiverr says, I just shouldn't fucking bother and AI can do it all. OK. Don't blame me if the AI hallucinates you into sounding lie a hypocritical and parasitical douchebag though. Besides, as your ad campaign goes... who cares?

“Why do you think it’s my responsibility to make you better as professionals? Fuck you.”
7:31–7:54

This isn’t leadership. It’s a CEO washing his hands of responsibility and bullying his own user base. He’s essentially saying: “You’re screwed if you don’t onboard my AI tools—and I don’t give a single fuck whether you succeed or not.”

“You’re either going to be poor or a burden on society.”
7:54–8:02

Congrats, Micha—you’ve invented freelancer eugenics. He’s equating creative hardship with societal failure, while Fiverr positions itself as the goddamn gatekeeper to human dignity.

“In an ideal situation … each and every one of you … replace 100% of what you do with automation.”
3:36–4:02

He’s literally encouraging you to erase your own value—while Fiverr slurps your output into its models and then replaces you. Automate yourself into irrelevance, then tell Fiverr “cheers, I’m obsolete.”

“I am not your dad … if you want to help yourself I’ll be there … if not, fuck you—you’re done.”
8:11–8:23

This isn’t tough love—it’s contempt. Fiverr’s Dear Leader disowns anyone who dares question his AI worship. The message is clear: fall in line or fuck off.

“If AI generates something because it learned from me … I don’t get any credit … it’s done. Copyright is dead.”
37:38–37:50

He’s not just predicting the death of IP—he’s celebrating it. Fiverr won’t credit you for your work. They’ll feed it to the machine, call it progress, and say your rights died of natural causes.

“You are working for AI, and so do I … that content is going to be eaten by a machine.”
41:39–41:46

He’s not hiding it. We’re all just fuel. Produce, publish, feed the algorithm. Fiverr collects the data and sells the future back to us.

“If you don’t want to work, the exit is on the ground floor. Bye-bye.”
12:10–12:17

This is how Fiverr treats the freelancers that built it—tells them to fuck off if they don’t want to be complicit in automating themselves out of income.

“For your Virgin NatWest Chase Bank social media manager, you’re fucked, you’re fucked already.”
1:00:44–1:01:04

He’s literally mocking junior creatives while Fiverr builds the AI that replaces them. Entry-level? Burned. Mid-level? Burned. Future? Already monetized.

It's me again, a slow, boring, and unsexy human. I just want to quickly add something. You may know the term Luddite - generally a derogatory term for people who don't like tech or tech progress. But did you know that this is one of those 'history's winners write the script' moment?

Because the Luddites were not anti-tech. Most were skilled textile workers in 19th-century England who smashed the mechanized looms not because the machines existed, but because factory owners used them to drive wages down, deskill the trade, and concentrate profit. If that sounds familiar, that's because that is what is happening today. Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO) just said the other day that 70% of jobs are heading for the chopping block by 2030.

I'd recommend not purchasing ANY of Fiverr's products (ads, AI, SP etc), but you do you. Micha will still tell you to fuck off while stealing all your training data, because he is, ultimately, nothing more than a greedy factory owner, filled with contempt for the workforce that made him so wealthy in the first place.

Well, that's the post.

[OTHER] Attention! Fiverr left customer files public and searchable

As has been reported on HN:

Fiverr (gig work/task platform, competitor to Upwork) uses a service called Cloudinary to process PDF/images in messaging, including work products from the worker to client.

Besides the PDF processing value add, Cloudinary effectively acts like S3 here, serving assets directly to the web client. Like S3, it has support for signed/expiring URLs. However, Fiverr opted to use public URLs, not signed ones, for sensitive client-worker communication.

Moreover, it seems like they may be serving public HTML somewhere that links to these files. As a result, hundreds are in Google search results, many containing PII.

Example query: site:fiverr-res [dot] cloudinary [dot] com form 1040

In fact, Fiverr actively buys Google Ads for keywords like "form 1234 filing" despite knowing that it does not adequately secure the resulting work product, causing the preparer to violate the GLBA/FTC Safeguards Rule.

Responsible Disclosure Note -- 40 days have passed since this was notified to the designated vulnerability email. The security team did not reply. Therefore, this is being made public as it doesn't seem eligible for CVE/CERT processing as it is not really a code vulnerability, and I don't know anyone else who would care about it.

EDIT: my post got deleted on Fiver Forums for 'violating community rules', alerting other freelancers. Suspicious.
EDIT 2: seems like they are doing something about it. Google is now returning 404's, HOWEVER, I just confirmed and all shared files with customers are still on publicly accessible URL's!!!!
EDIT3: Magically, my post got "undeleted". Maybe somebody is reading the forum here! Hi!

[DISCUSSION] The beast (The AI Personal Assistant) is dead.

I just received this email from Fiverr:

I wanted to let you know about an upcoming change to your AI Personal Assistant.

As Fiverr continues to move upmarket and support more complex, high-value projects, we’re prioritizing the experience of clients coming to Fiverr for this kind of work.

We know that these clients value direct, personal communication with freelancers from the start, building the trust and confidence needed to move projects forward. To prioritize stronger relationships with your clients, the AI Personal Assistant will no longer be available starting October 1, 2026.

Going forward, here’s what to expect:

  • New client inquiries will come directly to you: You can respond to clients from their first message.
  • Your conversations stay available: You can keep messaging clients as usual.
  • No action needed: Your AI Personal Assistant will be removed automatically.
  • Your other Seller Plus benefits stay the same: You’ll continue to have access to all your other Seller Plus benefits.

[HELP] Order got cancelled by client, more than 1.5 weeks after completion and delivery

Hi, I got an order from a client. I delivered everything on the 21st of August.

Order was automatically marked as completed as the client stopped answering.

A few days later (after marked as completed), Client came back with some revisions, which I did 'outside' of the order, to fix some issues with my last delivery.

Today (September 1st), I get an e-mail saying that the order was cancelled:

```
Your order with client was canceled due to a dispute initiated by the buyer and/or their issuing bank.
The funds from this order were automatically returned to the buyer.
```

And in the order page this appears:

client order was canceled since you didn't respond to their request.

(There was no request, no notification of request, and no message in my inbox about any request)

What is this, how can I contact Fiverr about this, and is there any good alternatives to Fiverr?

Thanks

[DISCUSSION] Requests for less than an hour turnaround

I've been getting a bunch of requests to turn around an order in under an hour lately. Is this a new normal?

I have rush delivery set at 24 hours ... who out there is delivering in 28 minutes?

[ADVICE]: Level 2 to Level 0....

I was previously a Level 2 seller on Fiverr, but due to some personal circumstances, I wasn't active for a while. Unfortunately, my response rate dropped significantly, and I've now gone from Level 2 to Level 0.

I'm trying to get back on track through genuine orders and normal activity. Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully recovered their level?

I'd really appreciate any advice on the best way to improve my metrics and work my way back up.

Thanks!

[ADVICE] Using Fiverr as a student to start working?

Hello! I'm close to graduate from college. I'm currently doing a bachelor in multimedia design in my last semester, I am required to start a "business" with my most polished skills and show evidence.

I am a bit insecure of my work, hence I haven't worked on a portfolio that's packed full of examples. However - I have been recently working in some projects (with the most recent one involving me as part of the camera crew in a music video), but these aren't enough and I'm looking to get more opportunities to work. I firmly believe that video editing is one of my most polished skills and things that involve it, including a part of video editing and recently, color grading. The thing with this part is that it has a strong competence, which intimidates me a little. Most things I've done have been recreational, and it has been leaning on the professional side just recently.

My professor told me to give a try on Fiverr, I just don't know how to promote myself without underselling myself, or feeling opaqued by other sellers. I'm pretty much new on the site and I don't know much about it.

I'd appreciate advices from people that took a similar route :)

[HELP] Is the inbuilt zoom option still available?

Is the call option before a contract starts still available for everyone? I am trying to have a call with the client and I can’t find the option to start the call and they also can’t find the option to request a call. Does anyone know how this works now or what the next option would be? Thanks

[ADVICE] Buyer keeps requesting cancellation with no specific feedback

seller here. Buyer ordered 3 videos , scripts provided by them, clear agreed scope (face-to-camera, 1-2 min each, no editing needed).
I delivered on time per the brief. Buyer requested revision with zero specifics (“sometimes I need to review it”). I followed up 3 times over several days asking what exactly needed to change — no response each time, left on read. Order started showing as late while stuck in revision.
Buyer then requested full cancellation via Resolution Center, again vague: “You did not deliver what I want.” I rejected it, explained in writing that I delivered per brief and repeatedly asked for feedback with no reply. Opened a support ticket — got a generic response telling me to “guide the client toward acceptance” (which I’d already tried).
After I rejected, buyer went silent. A few days later, they submitted a second cancellation request, same vague reason, still no communication from them.
I’ve rejected both times. Worried about my Completion Rate if this drags on or Fiverr eventually sides with a buyer who’s never actually engaged or given real feedback.
Anyone dealt with this pattern — repeated cancellation requests + total silence? Does rejecting repeatedly help, or just delay things? How do you get support to actually dig into a case instead of sending templates?

[ADVICE] 3 months into freelance writing, 36 outreaches, 0 responses. What am I missing

Hello there,
I'm 22, a final-year student who's been into freelance writing for about 3 months. What I do: dialogue editing, YouTube video scriptwriting, dialogue for games and stories, book blurbs, and content writing.

Portfolio available — happy to share on request.

I've reached out to 36 YouTubers with zero responses so far. I have 4 active gigs live on Fiverr but still haven't landed my first client. It's been tough, and honestly my hope that this gets better is starting to fade.

What am I missing here? Is the market just not favoring this kind of work right now, or is there something structurally wrong with my approach? Genuinely looking for honest insight, not reassurance.

[HELP] How to handle a three week vacation?

Hi Fiverr Redditors!

So, I'm going on a three week vacation soon and wondering how I should handle my Fiverr profile at that time. Of course, I will inform my long-term clients, so there should be no orders from them.

My issue is more about those random orders that sometimes come in without warning or the client contacting me beforehand. It does not happen often, but there still are some cases. I would like to take the 3 weeks off and not get any new orders, or move the work to after the travel is over.

Some options I've read in this sub:
- Vacation time is probably the worst option, might tank my profile (as far as I've read online)
- Putting all gigs on longer delivery time + info in the description that I'm away (best option?)
- Pausing gigs
- ... hoping nobody will order something out of the blue lol

Also, will it be a problem to access Fiverr in Japan? I've heard that some accounts got banned due to regional differences from the normal location (in my case, Germany).
But then again, Fiverr is also for digital nomads, so it should be fine?

Thanks in advance! :)

[SUGGESTION] Best tips to rank a Fiverr gig in 2026?

Hey guys, can you please share your experience or tips on how to rank a Fiverr gig and get orders in 2026?
I’m a new seller. I’ve already done SEO for my Fiverr gig and optimized the title, description, URL, and tags.
What else should I do to improve my gig ranking and get my first orders?
I would really appreciate it if you could share your tips, experience, or anything that worked for you.

[ADVICE] Fiverr TOS

Hi! I have a question about Fiverr’s Terms of Service. If I have my own website, would it be against Fiverr’s TOS to link to my Fiverr profile so potential clients can see my Fiverr reviews and verify that they’re genuine?

The actual work and communication with clients who hire me through my website would be handled entirely outside of Fiverr (I'm not directing clients to Fiverr; I just want to use my Fiverr reviews as proof of my experience)

Would this be allowed, or would Fiverr consider this an attempt to move clients off the platform?

[ADVICE] Dispute with intermediary seller

I would like to ask for some advice on dealing with a problematic order.

For context, I produce graphics on Fiverr very occasionally as it's something I like doing and I find the work interesting. My work is a niche so occasionally I will take on fairly big projects.

For this project I accepted the job through an intermediary working with a much larger company. I agreed a price for one main graphic, two supplementary graphics and two revisions. In my custom offer I think I was too vague: I stated I would produce a graphic working with the provided data and any branding.

I produced a first draft of the graphic which my guy said he was happy with and me and this intermediary then attended a meeting with the much larger company to take on any revisions.

They ended up requesting what would amount to a completely new piece of work, and when I asked for more money I was accused of being unethical and told the price has been fixed.

I think this guy has paid me out of his own pocket before he can invoice the larger company, so I feel a bit bad about leaving him out of pocket, but I essentially said I could do the wholescale redesign for a lower (but still fairly large) price compared to a whole new graphic, or I could make minor revisions to the existing graphic and deliver. He hasn't got back to me and I'm wondering how to proceed.

I will never work with an intermediary like this again.

[HELP] Failed Project And Boundary Issues

I’m sharing this as a buyer, I hired to create a 35 cm articulated figure based on a detailed spec sheet I provided. After more than two weeks, he only showed a generic base model, kept trying to move the goalposts with random references I never asked for, and pushed guilt about “all the time spent” instead of delivering what we agreed to. When I clearly said he could not do the job and withdrew consent, he still tried to drag it out instead of accepting cancellation. I’ve opened a cancellation request with Fiverr and I’m posting this so I can ask what’s next? buyers who care about specs, boundaries, and clear communication know what they might be walking into? Also why is he trying to stall out the process and keeps on trying to get more time when he is not going to be giving me what I ordered. It has been a month and says he can complete what is taking a week in two days. What’s going on? Does he get to keep my money just by waiting it out?

[UPDATE] Update: So this morning the seller finally sent me a “progress” PDF and it just confirmed everything I was worried about. The head sculpt he showed is clearly based on some random blonde reference he picked, not the measurements and photos I gave him of myself, and the proportions are way off: different eye size, nose shape, lips, and overall head shape. When I pointed that out, he tried to argue timeline math (“it’s 2 weeks and 6 days, not one month”) and guilt-trip me that he did “2 weeks and 6 days of work,” while admitting he already noticed the differences when he compared them. I told him I don’t accept rushed, half-done work just so he can hit deliver, and at this point I’ve pulled consent and I’m letting Fiverr handle the cancellation and refund instead of wasting more time arguing in DMs.

Thank you for the update. I can see how upsetting this has become, especially after the delays, the back and forth, and the latest progress still not reflecting the references and measurements you originally provided.

I reviewed your order #FO and believe that a partial refund is the best way to resolve this.

This allows you to be compensated for the parts of the delivery that didn't meet your expectations, while keeping and using the work you found valuable. At the same time, it fairly compensates the freelancer for the time and effort they invested. As a reminder, if the order is canceled, you'll lose the rights to use any part of the delivered work.

If you do not feel comfortable continuing, you can keep the cancellation request focused on the mismatch between the delivered progress and the original requirements. If you want, we can also reach out to the freelancer again on your behalf and encourage them to consider a refund arrangement to resolve this more quickly.

Looking forward to your reply,

[DISCUSSION] Buyer here. Today's "we removed hundreds of accounts" email was the last straw.

I hire on Fiverr, I don't sell here. Got the email today about hundreds of accounts being removed for taking business off-platform, with a line about enforcement continuing regardless of level or tenure.

I'm appalled by it, honestly. Not because I have a stake in the off-platform argument either way, but because of what it means from the buying side. I was never loyal to Fiverr. I was loyal to a few specific sellers I found here who did good work and knew what I wanted without a long brief. Delete accounts in bulk and the buyer loses that relationship too, with no notice and nothing to appeal.

The bit that really got me was the framing that this protects me. I didn't ask to be protected from people I picked myself.

[ADVICE] Can I post as an editor on fiverr with only 2 years of experience

I've been making tv show edits for just under 2 years now (i believe the 4th of september will make 2 years) and I was thinking about posting on fiverr for super cheap but would this be wrong? Do I need to be better skilled? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

[DISCUSSION] Harder, easier or just different?

Has AI made your work harder, easier, or just different?

Ai made it tougher for me as a Graphic Designer Now almost anyone can generate dozens of visual ideas in minutes.
I still think design skills matter — especially taste, composition, typography, understanding the client, and knowing what actually works in production — but it sometimes feels harder to explain that value when generating an image has become so easy. And there people who are making prompting as a course that you can learn.

How about you? Did AI make it harder, easier or just diffeerent? And what do you do?

[HELP] Paid off cash advance and it's not offering me another

I'm a high rated seller in my niche with almost 10k completed orders, and every time I've previously paid off a cash advance, I've been given the opportunity to immediately take another. Now, it only says "cash advance," but it doesn't give me the option to take another. It's been about 72 hours since I repaid it. My success score is 10, and I have consistent revenue. Has anyone else recently been able to get a cash advance after repaying it? Or maybe the company isn't doing well, so they can't lend money now? I'm not really sure what it is, but I haven't received any bad reviews or had any late deliveries in a long time.

[ADVICE] Looking to start trying voice acting?

So this is something that'd be entirely new to me, but i have had countless people in the past say my voice would be phenomenal for radio, tv, games, etc. So I thought why not explore it?

So i guess im mostly looking for if anyone has any tips or experiences with using fiverr for this or not? Thank you!
