I feel like rotisserie is discussed pretty frequently on this sub and Chicken Maison is almost always highly recommended here so I decided to check it out while in the area.

My order: Chicken Caesar pita, 1/2 chicken with the spicy lemon sauce, spicy hummus, falafel, fries, garlic sauce, side of pita.

The inside had a string of AI signs which is a bummer but oh well.

1/2 chicken is tasty. It was doused in the spicy dressing so I can’t tell if it was ever crispy from the jump but it’s still a good chicken. The sauce is truly what made it though. I don’t believe the chicken was brined or marinated long enough or hard enough because the breast was kind of dry but just dipping it in the sauce is enough to forget about it.
I did enjoy the chicken and if I’m ever in the area and decide to come back I would probably prefer to receive the sauce on the side as it is quite greasy.
I’d also probably only order à la carte.

Spicy hummus: had a very strong cumin presence and wasn’t very light, mostly dense and heavy. I know it’s not a cheffy restaurant but still thought I should mention. Would not order again.

Falafel: very heavy and not crispy.

Garlic sauce: more lemon than garlic flavor. Looked like it had specks of fresh or dry herbs in there, but couldn’t tell

Fries: meh.

Pita pocket sando: also meh. Store bought Caesar with rotisserie chicken in a pita that should be used as a wrap, not a pocket.

Overall: I’d go back just for chicken à la carte with sauce on side. Get sides literally anywhere else and call it a day.

Hello Redditors, the question of which restaurant to have our daughter’s 16th birthday for she and 9 of her friends is TEARING OUR FAMILY APART. Not really but it is annoying. These are not what I would call Adventurous Eaters so we’re looking at stuff like C&O in Marina or Cheesecake Factory. We’d prefer it be on the Westside because that’s where most of the families live. Not trying to spend $70,000 so suggestions like “We had our daughter’s party at Gjelina and it was lovely…” will be met with a certain type of existential dread at not being able to afford that. I’ve searched this sub a lot for good coffee recommendations. I liked Verve’s food and didn’t like Kumquats coffee. I want coffee that’s not super purist, meaning I like a sweet drink, but not like dessert coffee. Im looking for good beans and coffee build and house made syrups, cream tops are welcome. Im interested to try Yeem’s coffee. Are there any other spots that aren’t too pretentious but also not too Starbucks-ey? Looking for places in DTLA.

Bonus if it has a beautiful space and good food too! Think Verve but better coffee 🙈

I got the Flamin Creation and wow it's one of the best Italian-y pasta dishes I've ever had.

I got the spicy level 3 and it's plenty hot for me lol...

Feels like they give a ton of food too, but I did get the large. Definitely 100% will definitely be coming back for more :)

Birthday coming up and want a couple cool drinks; I'm Mid-City-ish but would travel 45 minutes or so.

I used to live in DC and there was some bar that did Traditional Chinese Medicine-inspired cocktails with unusual botanical ingredients etc. and I always wanted to go sooo bad and never got to.

In this case unusual/experimental could mean sophisticated and highfalutin, or kind of stupid and gimmicky, or anything in between.

Appealing atmosphere or a nightlifey/walkable location are a plus but definitely not necessary. I live to Try Stuff so anything that has some kind of flight/sampler situation is a bonus (not really a thing with cocktails but who knows).

I suppose I could go for weird beers as well if any jump to mind.

Where can I find the taco trucks in Glendale, Burbank, or Eagle Rock?

My boyfriend is visiting me from across the pond. I need to show this British boy some LA taco culture. He needs to know what it is like to order from a stand that setup shop for the night (truck or pop up OK), watch the chef chop up the meats spread out across the grill, and wait among the locals grabbing salsa.

And I need some lengua or cabeza for myself.

I'm hoping to swing by on a Tuesday night. I'm more familiar with the west side of the 405 and Sylmar/San Fernando, so Burbank & Glendale are out of my scope. Where do the taco trucks post up?

Yes, I looked through this sub already. It seems like Angel's Tacos is a contender, but pictures suggest they don't have cabeza nor lengua. I'd prefer to save gas and not venture too far from Burbank, but if it's truly worth it, I'll consider taco stands in NoHo. I just don't know where the NoHo stands are, either.

This might be a bit of a huge ask, but any help would be appreciated.

I have taken my family to Dos Besos, a well-recommended paella restaurant by this subreddit. Everyone enjoyed it, but my mom in particular enjoyed a specific dish in this restaurant: tallarines con trufa negra (fettuccine with black truffles). The pasta is extremely creamy without being overbearing and not overly salty.

The problem? The price. Our family eats a decent amount, and my mom felt the portion size was way too small for the price (of which I do agree, even knowing black truffles is an expensive ingredient). I personally do not mind taking my family to this place time and again, but my family feels a little burdened by it.

Is there any restaurant (within City of Industry/Pasadena/Glendora area) that serves this similar dish without such price hike and decent serving portion? We're willing to drive a bit, but Los Angeles is a bit too much for us. Black truffles itself is not necessary, it was the creaminess that she really enjoyed. She is also hoping for more variety in pasta, if possible. Thank you!

P.S. She is extremely sensitive to salt, so anything you might consider decently salty might be a bit too much for her.

I want to experience high quality Michelin star level dining. I’m not willing to spend 400-500 per head so is this one a good choice? Or are there better ones that are under the 400-500 price range?

Finally decided to try Lapaba over the weekend and was pretty impressed. The interior of the space is designed really well with nice lighting and lots of pleasant natural colors and textures. The acoustics were decently controlled too. It’s mostly counter seating with just a handful of tables.

They offer à la carte and a pre-fixe menu for 2. I went the à la carte route and ordered their fried chicken, corn agnolotti, orecchiette with sausage, the summer squash side dish and a yuzu matcha mocktail.

The fried chicken starter was 5 chicken wing drumettes served lollipop style with a sweet garlic chili sauce. The chicken itself was crispy, juicy and delicious. I was a bit disappointed with the sauce though. It tasted like a knock off Thai mae ploy sauce. Also the plating was low effort compared to all the other dishes.

The cheesy corn agnolotti seems highly rated in this sub and I thought it was pretty good but hardly the best corn agnolotti in town. The brown butter flavor is pretty light but the black pepper, Parmesan, and thyme really helped amp up the overall flavor levels. The pasta texture was very good.

The second pasta dish was the orecchiette with sausage and spinach. This was by far my favorite dish of the night. It was super flavorful, with plenty of delicious sausage bits throughout, and all the ingredients were married together with an amazing gochugaru sauce. The pasta texture was also excellent; probably the best orecchiette pasta I’ve had outside of Italy.

The summer squash side dish was pretty good. It’s slices of squash topped with a spicy tomato red pepper sauce and topped with melted mozzarella cheese and pesto. Very reminiscent of an eggplant parm. I do wish I had ordered some bread to go with it.

Overall I thought Lapaba was very good. The ambiance is nice, the food is quite good, and the service is quick and friendly. It’s a great choice for a date night or for a solo experience. I will say that the portion sizes are pretty small for a pasta restaurant but the quality is high and flavors are big.

$98 before tax and tip. Reservations and walk-ins accepted. Not great for large groups (I would say 4 people max). Valet or street parking only.

Will be in Beverly Hills for the weekend and want to splurge on a fancy-pants sandwich. Looking for something specifically in walking distance.

I don’t eat pork but am otherwise open to whatever (already had the cheesesteak at Matu, which I give a solid 8/10 for the extremely delicious beef but dock two points for not quite enough delicious cheese).

Been researching this sub and checking out other reviews online and think I’ve narrowed it down to Cheese Store vs Lorenzo… but would love to get the perspective of the freaks (complimentary) who frequent r/FoodLosAngeles in case there are other hidden gems I haven’t heard about in the Beverly Hills sandwich realm!

Been awhile since I ate here, but yesterday I had one of my faves, the garlic shrimp plate with purple rice. It’s still one of my favorite bites in all of LA.

I visited Mercado La Paloma at an off-peak time, and Holbox still had a ridiculous line.

I had heard good things about Komal, so I went there instead. Their squash blossom quesadilla is pretty and delicious. The corn kernels inside are very sweet.

All in all, I recommend a visit.

I had such a rough experience at this place.

First of all, horrible parking situation. But once you make it to the restaurant you're greeted with a line on the sidewalk to stand in. Theres a QR code at the front of the line that has a menu. I scanned it and got back in line.

I noticed that there was a dine in option, so i went ahead and ordered, stayed in line bc i forgot to add the passionfruit pie. got my pie and they said my drink is ready but they didnt have the drink i ordered so they just made me something similar. alright.

sit down to wait for my food thinking at least i ordered like 10 min ago, ill soon get my food. but no, i waited another 25 min and people who were standing in line behind me, who ordered at the counter, got their food before me.

i finally get my food and i cant even enjoy the decency of plating because i get my dine in order in a togo box. then i look at it and this burrito is like 80% rice 8% one leaf and 12% pork belly. it obviously was not that great either.

at least the pie was good, although its the only thing i didnt take a pic of.

this meal was 46$.
