I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt at first, but they were absolutely an opportunist or someone looking for a power trip.
It doesn't really matter if they had a limited build of the game because they still coulda shown off way more than they did if they wanted to. Instead, they wanted to hold it over the heads of people willing to pay for it.
I'm confident that's the reason (money) because if anyone else got access to their most anticipated game, or wanted to do some real damage to a company, they'd be showing off some crazy shit.

He was literally just an opportunist. He knew he had to show off those leaked clips before the extended look because nothing he showed was better than what was shown on Netflix.
Eh, it's hard to say. The leaks were really notable when they came out because it was some of the first gameplay footage we'd seen of the game. They're a bit less notable now because we have ~30 minutes of superior footage. When the game comes out, the leaks lose any relevance other than being an interesting thing that happened. The HL2 leaks are still remembered today because 1. the version of Half-Life 2 in those builds ended up being so radically different from release, and 2. because they indicated some turbulence at Valve that wouldn't have been known about otherwise. I don't think the GTA leaks say anything more than "wow we got to see the game early" and "rockstars security is ass lol."
I'm sure there will be some discussion about the leaks in the future, but they probably won't be a big part of the game's story.
He can't if he doesn't have the source code. Even if he does, you'll need to change a lot of stuff in the source for it to actually change the graphics which is just not worth the effort
holy shit are you a massive dumbass, r* put graphics settings into gta v because it was ported to pc. gta 6 is releasing on consoles first, so all the graphics are hardcoded bcz there's zero reason to work on pc graphics toggles on a console build
having variables in engine code doesn't mean a target build dynamically exposes graphics settings especially when compiling for target console specs.Iāve actually analyzed and worked with multiple leaked dev builds form other studios, settings are bound to fixed profile configurations to mirror console target hardware. You can't just use a command to magically render hlower graphics and pp that aren't even compiled in the test build
Sure there's reason, that's how you determine which actual changes to make when selecting for Quality vs Performance presets on a modern console. You profile multiple variants, and no better way to hit that target that being able to (in a debug build) fine-tune the specifics. That doesn't require any settings menu either, as it can be done entirely remotely.

Dude this is fucking GTA 6 itās not Spider-Man 2, the āsizeā of a leak isnāt about the completeness of the build itās about how relevant the game is to its time. Half-Life 2ās beta leak is still a conversation topic to this day despite the game being āa betaā because it was a highly anticipated game at the time. GTA 6 is going to be the largest game ever, definitely in sales and possibly in actual game density. A PC playable beta build of the game, even a few years old, would cement cyberleek as the most notorious leaker of all time for sure

The leak on Spiderman 2 caused Sony disruption in potential sales. GTA 6 is a big game.. sure.. but even if the build was leaked, people would definitely buy the game as the leaked build is NOT a complete build.
If he had the EXACT build which R* would launch on Steam, Then yes, it is a massive leak as it WILL cause a dent in sales.

They didn't have a build. They just had access for a limited amount of time somehow. If you line up all the leaks into an order based off of location on the map, time of day and Jason's outfit its clear that they only had a singular play session.

I believe they had limited interactive access to the game and saved some clips, or worked with someone who did. And they had those clips for a bit.

Itās silly people thought he possessed a full build just because he wrote LEEK. Itās much more likely he had temporary access to a build which he recorded footage off of. He snuck off with his video and then cut that up to drip-feed. He dumped all of the interesting clips he had, cashed out, and now heās gone. Thatās all there is to it. If he wanted to squeeze more money out of this, which he certainly did, then he wouldāve taken requests and leaked content from later in the game. He didnāt do any of that because he couldnāt.
It's funny seeing you getting upvoted for this when all of last week all of us pointing out this theory were told to "cope" in this community. This is obviously what happened, the only thing left for cyberleeks to do is announce a monetary goal in order to "leak his build", and as soon as that goal is reached he will disappear without any build being released. There was a good theory suggesting he was an ex-employee that was laid off last fall, that feels reasonable in terms game quality, and what he had access to.

My bet is he would have somehow stolen a Rockstar devs login credentials and managed to remotely login and play the game for half an hour or so. Either that or a Rockstar dev themselves got the footage for them.
The leaker changed Jason into one other outfit. Also as I said, it wasn't just his outfit, it was time of day and location on the map and other things (I believe like amount of money in his wallet and stuff like that). They also only showed locations in specific locations that all line up on the map.
I don't know where the post has gone. It was in one of the GTA6 (or the gaming leaks and rumors?) subs and it made what the leaker had done very clear. They even used the leaked map to find where each leak took place.

They didn't though? There are differences in interiors details and architecture between videos. The footage comes not only from different sessions but from entirely different builds of the game.
They probably had access to a series of builds, not a singular build. Developers usually have several builds at their disposal at any given time for testing a number of different things. The point was that the actual pathway they took across the map according to time of day, outfit and wallet amount was constant with someone who didn't stay too far from a particular path. If you look on the leaked map and see where each leak happened the leaker didn't really explore all thar much of the map which is odd if they did actually have a build to mess around in.
They probably got access to a developers credentials and remotely logged in and found a "developer pipeline of some sort and probably hopped in and out of a few different builds.
Also the HUD changes could have easily just been changing HUD settings. Rockstar told TGG that there is a ton of HUD customization in this game. It's possible they messed around with that a bit too.
He made as much money as he could and disappeared, it's entirely possible he has a build of the game. The guy disappearing doesn't means he didn't have something.
He cashed out when his cryptoscam was at its most valuable because that's how cryptoscams work. If he continued after the official gameplay reveal then the value would've fell and he would have made less money.
I think in 5-10 years this dev build will find its way online and almost no-one will really care, it'll be so disconnected from this event that only a couple of people will make the connection and even then we won't know for sure.
I don't think anyone believes Rockstar is behind the leaks considering they're taking legal action to try and find who did it lol.
Ones of the leaks also wanted people to come to Rockstar HQ as a mini protest with discs, I don't think they would ask for such a security and safety risk even for an elaborate leak campaign.
Hopefully staying safe and avoiding Rockstar and the Pinkertons, I like to believe I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed the leaks and still support the dude. I got to see gameplay without lifting a finger, and if there's even a chance of a full build of the game coming out before the actual release date (obviously not getting my hopes up), I'll be laughing on the sidelines at the people that pre-ordered.

I mean they'd probably just have to lay low for several years and the various statute of limitations would run out. I only checked the US, which is where Rockstar is based, but I assume other countries have similar situations with their laws.

I 100% believe the look of the game from the leaks over a finely crafted "gameplay preview" from a billion dollar company known for fabricating trailers previously. But, y'all do you.
Nah, the leeks portrayed the game way better. The extended look was very uncanny.. definitely was aided by ai, because none of it looked like the real gameplay we saw the whole week prior
