I’m looking to upgrade my yard. Where to start with something 12 ft wide and 10 ft deep? The front is east facing and gets cooked in zone 10b. Gets direct sun early morning until about 4-5 pm. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I've recently purchased an aluminum frame greenhouse with uv resistant polycarbonate panels.

The manual doesn't say, which side of the panel should face out and which in. One side has a sticker while the other side is covered with white film.

Based on the sticker I assume that the side with the white film (to be peeled off) should face outside. Is that the case?

I'm taking out a section of my hedge to place a small greenhouse, the hedge is on the north boundary of the garden. I'm just worried now, have I created a wind tunnel for my greenhouse??

Hi everyone! This spring I built a 200G fish pond for a rescued goldfish (named Zeus, unfortunately because we both got electrocuted on the first day due to faulty wiring..he’s fine tho)

It’s about to be September in New England. Which means it anything can happen, weather-wise.

I’m not 100% sure it’s deep enough to not fully freeze, and also concerned about the power required to run a heater for 4-5 months.

Thus… greenhouse? I’d love to be able to sit inside with Zeus through the dreary winter! As well as keep him just warm enough to not freeze.

Anyone live in a zone 7 with a greenhouse? What kind of temperatures are you getting during the winter months? I think I only need above freezing (34-50F) for him to “hibernate” or 65F to maintain his regular feeding schedule.

Any tips for building one appreciated! Trying to do as minimal a build as possible as I am disabled (but still stupid enough to build it from scratch)

Bought a home and we are putting in a permanent real greenhouse.

I’m not cheeping out and prepared to do it correctly. I see all these poly carb kits but I want the real deal with glass vents foundation. Was thinking of heating the concrete slap with natural gas hydronic heat which I’ll have here anyway for snow melt in our driveway. Can canine recommend a top notch company that has kids my contractor and I can assemble. Want it to be simple and elegant. 550 sf is what we are thinking with full water, irrigation and a venting system.

Wondering if it's possible to put up a greenhouse to grow fruits and veggies through a Denver, Colorado winter?

I only started growing fruits and veggies about 3 years ago. Last year I started all of my plants from seed. I have only ever grown in spring/ summer.

Given recent issues with produce in the US I am considering getting a greenhouse and trying to grow through winter. I know nothing about greenhouses. Would this even be feasible? If so, is there a specific greenhouse I can buy, or a super easy one I might be able to build?

A while back I posted a model of the greenhouse I was planning to build, and got some advice on the roof material. I wanted to share the final product now that the structure is complete and has weathered a few storms.

The frame is built pole-barn style with 4x4s set into concrete. The glass on the walls are scavenged double glazed windows. Back wall is solid with a few vents cut into bottom to allow cool air to be drawn up from the permanently shaded backside of the structure.

The ventilation fan is powered by a small solar setup, and I put together a simple rain barrel to provide water to the sink in the bench. Floor is gravel on top of cardboard.

Temperature regulation is still a work in progress. I measured a peak of ~115 deg F during the heat wave we had recently where outside temps were in the 95-100 deg F range. The solar panels help with shade, and we are trellising a jasmine vine up one wall and across the ceiling to add more shade. Might try a shade cloth next year.

My greenhouse is a good distance away from house , so watering with a hose is a bit of a PITA. I wanted it to be rain collected, and have a powered on demand pump. This is the system I put together if anyone is interested.

I’m new to the greenhouse and CA world. I’m looking to have Ethernet all over our greenhouse for a bunch of sensors. Anybody have this? How do you do cable management? I’d like to do floor boxes but it sounds like a messy place for water to accumulate. It’s not crazy but big. 80x60. We start pouring concrete in a few weeks so I need ideas.

I live on the Central Coast of California, 9b. I was wondering if anyone grows seedlings in a greenhouse and if it can be done without a grow lamp.

It's plenty warm in the greenhouse.

I am a hobby grower. I grow a veggies and dahlias and some perennials and a few decorative annuals but veggie and dahlias are my main thing.

This year I added 2 8x4x2 raised beds and I am going to add two more and place cattle panel arches between them. Behind them in my yard I have a 23x 23x12 l shaped in-ground bed. I want to put the green house in the middle of the bed at the end of the panels.

I like the canopia balance 8x12 greenhouse but I want it to be taller and to have a solid bottom so I was thinking of installing it on a kick wall with a gate by the door. Does anyone have any input on this wisdom or folly of this plan?

I don’t have 12k for a greenhouse so this is what I am thinking.

I want to convert gazebo to a greenhouse/conservatory room.
What features are a must?

I'm going to do a 10ft by 10ft Martha Tent setup in my two car garage. The garage is not insulated, and it would be considerably cheaper to just insulate the tent. I'm kind of stuck on solutions though. I could use some kind of AC, but that seems to raise a couple issues:

1. During fruiting I need to maintain over 80% humidity. If I was using something like a closed loop window unit, it would quickly be damaged by the high humidity and spores.

2. If I just blow cold air in through a port, with a ducted unit, then I'm pushing the humid air out and constantly having to replace that moisture.

Can you think of any solutions?

Looking at Greenhouses for the first time, and given the wind and snowfall we typically get in a winter, I am leaning heavily to the Backyard Discovery Bellerose. My main dilemma is the 11x7 vs. 9x6. My greenhouse will be inside a 30x24 enclosed garden area, and the bigger I go, the more garden space I lose (I also have a 12x8 shed in there). Any recommendations or advice from those who have had them for a season or two?

I’m kind of leaning one way but want to hear what others think. I love the white because it looks built in to the greenhouse… but the red gives a nice pop of color and matches my mushrooms. 🍄 The white is neutral and will match all my seasonal decorations but the red would be perfect for Christmas, Valentine’s Day and any patriotic holiday.

Which do you prefer and why?

Currently it’s just natural wood color.
