General Advice Needed/Given Being a freshman is really hard

Upvotes

sorry for the long paragraph

Yesterday I woke up, excited for my first day of high school. but, everything went so wrong. I was originally a loner and I wanted to make new friends this school year. But everyone is just so hard to talk to. I want to talk to the popular girls and be like them. They are so nice and outgoing and I’m a nobody. Today, I started small and started making small talk with other people without friends. I was honestly hoping to becoming someone’s first friend but they have other friends outside their classes. It’s literally just me who doesn’t have friends in this entire school. Today I sat alone in the cafeteria with no one. But, I did meet this girl who is really nice and I’m going to sit at her table tomorrow. But everything else is stressing me out. And also, on my bus literally every seat in the middle was taken. So I had to sit all by myself in the back. And when it got to my stop, I had to walk down so many aisles. I even tripped on something on my way to the front. I saw some people who were alone sitting on the bus so I’m going to ask them if I can sit next to them next time. But I’m scared because my social battery drains fast. I wonder if I’m better of as a loner or making new friends. It’s so stressful, what do I do? How do I keep my social battery up?? I am genuinely stressing out.

Rant I just had a: one second: faith for humanity. Next second: plotting revenge

So today, I left my small Nike sports bag outside, a pouch/boy purse kinda thing, and when I went back to get it cause I reliEd I didn't have it, it was gone. I told my sister's, and they told me to check the office.

Skin did, AND IT WAS THERE! I was genuinely relived, cause I had a important necklace I was gonna give to my ex (REALLY complicated an sling story), and two lollipops for my four year old nephew, and a bottle of jewelry cleaner and my wallet (don't judge).

But when just checked, my wallet was open, and they had stolen a dollar from me, which is all just bring to school just in case, and one of the lollipops. At this point I'm genuinely just gonna ask the school to pull the security footage to find him.

Like, NOW MY NEPHEW ONLY HAS ONE LOLLIPOP!!! And he's so cute and I promised him 2! He's gonna be so sad, he loves lollipops, AND THEY HAD GUM IN THEM, and now he only has one.

Look how cute and innocent he is! HE DESERVED TWO LOLLIPOPS, NOT ONE!!!

I don’t understand this question. Am I supposed to be trying to get the highest possible answer with 7’s or am I trying to use combinations of 7 to equal the number on the left?

School Related Are they bullying me?

Upvotes

There’s this group of guys in my geometry class who constantly bring me up. They’ll say things like “I’m gonna be partners with Ella,” talk about things I’ve said, or say stuff about me loud enough for me to hear, but they never actually say it directly to me. They’ve also said their friend likes me, but I always assumed they were joking.

One of the guys genuinely says hi to me in the halls, and he once asked if I wanted to sit by him in that class. His friends also tease him about me sometimes. Today one of the other guys said “don’t talk to my girl Ella” when his friend asked me to scoot forward, and obviously I'm not his girl.. and I don't know why they say shit like this.

I’m just confused because they only seem to do this with me. Why do they keep talking about me when I’m right there?

General Advice Needed/Given School is giving me anger issues

So normally I am a very happy person. But when a school year starts I get more pissed off and more hateful towards anything. I crash out at the slightest things, get incredibly pissed at slight inconveniences that I normally wouldn't mind. I was even hateful enough to want to see my teacher gutted, I cried out of anger at home and right now even thinking about starting my second year is enough to ruin my mood and make me mad enough to cry. How do i fix or prevent ts? I don't want to have anger issues this year

I went with my 2 friends, in car, yeah, in a car with their 2 moms (my was at work) anddd we just came on the yard, the principal did his job and just said "hi" more profesionally.

We went into our NEWWW Classes, honestly i liked it but there was this old lady that kept pushing me and i didnt have enough place, my wholeee body hurted entire 30 minutes i was standing there, others were standing but there wasnt enough chairs and tables so we were like 10 kids standing, some girl was also standing and no one let her sit (idek why im saying this)

anddd SOME 17 YEARS OLD GRILLSSS SAID I GOT GOOD JEANS AND IM CUTEEE OMDOSMDOSM LIKE, I WAS JUST PASSING BY THEM I HEARD IT I DIDNT REACT I JS SMILED A LITTLE TO NOT MAKE IT OBVIOUS BUT OMGGG BRO I LOVE GIRLSS

Overall it was fine, kids my age were looking wayy older than me, they were sooo tall and hairy and just yeah, like the enviorement, our class teacher (idk how to say it) was funny, nice, old, shes something like below principal but above other teachers if i explained it right, she kinda reminds me of our old teacher in middle school.

BUTTT YEAHH I LOVE COMPLIMENTS I LOVE THOSE GIRLS THANKS SO MUCH IT WAS NICE YAYAYAY

Rant This is my first time not having any friends

Upvotes

(English not my first language) Hi, I'm a teenage girl in high school in the Philippines and I've always been extroverted and happy. I recently started a new school year and a majority of my friends who I was close to was in the other class while I only had one in the class I was in.

So naturally I just stayed close to my friend and she seemed to not like it and by the middle of the first week back we had a falling out.

Soon after our entire friend group followed after her.

I still don't get what I did wrong even, Ive always acted like I did in the past but suddenly now they have an issue with me.

The most great news I've heard this week was my Advisor telling me 2 of my old friends asked her how I was doing.

So now, after all the class cancellations because of the bad weather I'm back to face to face classes and I have absolutely no one even if I do try to make new friends no one is willing to eat lunch with me or Anything.

our phones get taken at break/lunch periods so I can't reach out to the plenty of online friends i have. I brought a book I like to read but still, ive never felt this alone before.

What do you guys think I should do?

Class Advice Needed/Given Help w junior year

Post image
Upvotes

So I moved to America 2 months ago July for my junior season. My courses are not the best. My goal is to get into a good uni but I have zero idea want I wanna major in. I took a placement test to get into ap pre calculus but got rejected. I was thinking of majoring in computer science but I’d need a good math, and a better class than Computer science principles bc it’s a very introductory course. Any suggestions?

Rant Poetry is the worst topic I have ever had compared to all the topics and all subjects I ever had in my school (I accept opinions against this)

Look, I know poetry would be interesting to learn, but me and my classmates just don't get on it.

  1. The language in poems is way too confusing, and we usually don't get it when we read it at the 1st time. We have it on English literature, and English is not my native language. The teacher explains what is trying to say, and I sometimes understand, but still, is confusing.

  2. The literary devices. They make the text richer, but in practice they just feel like a list to memorize.

  3. PEAs. If you don't know what it is, is Point, Evidence and Analysis. It's a paragraph that their structure is obligatory that you should follow, but that only cuts creativity, and every single answer just ends to be too repetitive, even if the poem changes.

I might know some people like poetry, but this just doesn't connect with me and my classmates. What is your opinion on poetry? And what do you think I am saying? You agree or disagree?

College Advice Needed/Given Starting high school, don't play an instrument. If I start now, can I get good enough for a (partial) scholarship in time?

Only played 2 years of various different instruments in 5th and 6th grade. Is there any hope for me getting a scholarship if I start a new instrument?

(And yes I'm only doing this for a scholarship, I don't care for music)

Edit: answered

School Related Really hard decision coming in about a month—thoughts?

Hi all, I am a sophomore in high school and my school offers this very cool thing to sophomores. So basically, if you qualify (which I do) you can go to college early at community college for only $500 a year, everything outside of food covered. So it would be during junior and senior year. I would take stats and college algebra for math, some sort of English, biology, Spanish, and the other requirements. I would be only taking bio and Spanish at the college, and the rest at my high school. Which brings me to what it actually is. For junior year, I get to go to the community college from 1st to 4th period, and then I go back to high school during lunch for 5th-8th period. Then senior year, I only go to Harper but I can still participate in activities at the high school. It would be from 8am to 12:15 pm, so much shorter which would be great. My worries are that I will miss out on high school, and I will miss my friends and won’t get to see them as often, given that I’ll be taking college classes in college and high school. I’m a good student, so I would be fine grade wise, but once you commit to it, there’s no going back. If yall need more info to get a better opinion on this please ask, but I am just so stuck on what to choose. I am also very blessed my school does this and that it’s very inexpensive for my associates degree. Also, I am indecisive on a major I would like to take later on. All the help is appreciated!

Rant Year 12 National Exam Results: 34% Pass Rate Following Curriculum Changes and War Disruptions

We just got our Year 12 national exam results back, and the pass rate is completely insane: only 40,000 out of 117,000 students passed.

For context, our school year was completely disrupted. We lost 2 to 3 months of classes because of the US-Iran conflict and the threat of drones flying over us, on top of about two weeks of normal holidays. Expecting students to pass a national exam after missing months of school due to a literal security crisis is crazy. Did anyone else’s year group get hit this hard?

To make matters worse, this was the exact year they decided to change the entire system. They announced that Arabic and our native language exams would now directly impact our overall GPA. Knowing full well that most of us don't speak fluent Arabic, they handed us an Arabic exam that absolutely whooped our ass

Expecting us to adapt to a brand new grading system and pass a brutal exam in a language we barely know after losing months of school to a security crisis is crazy.

Plus online school is a 10/10 fail.
