Career What should I do after B.Com?

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I’m 20 years old and I’ll turn 21 in October. I recently completed my B.Com in Computer Applications, and I’m looking for some career advice.

Can anyone suggest what I should do next? Should I look for a job, pursue higher studies, learn specific skills, or prepare for competitive exams?

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions from people who have been in a similar situation. 🙏

Discussion Do you know things like this?

#tw This is a rant but I wish to get some advices. I guess graduated 2 months ago and life has been feeling empty. I had some particular traumatic situations in school that made me develop an illness, then I also gave up every single hobby, relationship ( friendship, lover… ), my health, just because I had been told “Hurry up to get your diploma, just care about it and nothing else”. Now that I have got it I feel like life is over, no I do not mean attempt or suicide, just that there’s nothing else to do. I have learned that this is a common phase people around 20 years old go through, and logically I as well know that I just need to chill and that I will find my way. But it honestly feels so heavy sometimes. For now what I have done is organizing my day as if I was in school. I have a few hours where I study, one drawing, one animation, one reading then I should add one for studying for my license and one to exercise for my health, but beside that, I do not know what to do. I thought about traveling but if I actually think about it I would do that just because everyone does it. I don’t have any particular thing I want to visit and no one to travel with. I also have some pets and it does not motivate me to leave home for long times. What can I do? What should I do? I was watching a movie about Batman and he mentioned a “school helped when I was lost”, this is silly, but I thought about it too. Are there places where you can stay just to let the mind rest? Not totally for free obviously, one of those thing where you go and train or clean or something else.

Advice Take Full Time Job & Pause School or Thug It Out Doing BOTH?

Next Monday I start my Senior year in college. But today, I just got hired at a FAANG company. At first, I wanted to cram my classes and my job into this semester. It's a remote position so it's possible! But then, I started to worry about the quality of my work or my studies falling off.

Sounds crazy, but in this economy, I'm thinking of working and perhaps taking my classes next year instead. I want to graduate with work experience because Junior roles are all but nonexistent. Companies want you to have 3 years experience to even give you the time of day.

Support 3/4 months post grad and really struggling

i just graduated in may and i remember feeling like a wave of immense relief when it happened because so much was going on and I was tired and ready to just relax and get into a routine. And when my friends were here, I had moments of sadness for sure, but it just felt so much better. Like my two friends I could text them to walk around or get lunch or do silly little things. And I still have a couple of other friends here. But it has not felt the same because these friends were like the ones I would text everyday. And to some extent I guess I have that with of these ones but it is not the same. I guess all of this to say damn I am feeling really lonely right now. And I started a new job and that has def helped with the loneliness, but I have been orienting which means I am working with someone else which has been fun and really helpful! But I am getting off orientation soon. Can you tell I am feeling many ways about this. I don't know if it is the lack of sleep but I really do want to build a life for myself but just am feeling so sad about it all. I am aspiring premed/pre pa and like oof. My friend in nyc is doing her masters there before applying to med school and she seems genuinely happy and like she is having the time of her life which is so good for her and i am so happy for her. i wish that would happen to be i guess. and i dont know this might be a dumb move but i feel like i need to move out of my family home, i do love it and my family loves me and supports me but i am planning to move 3000 miles away with this roomate which honestly might be worse, like she is going to be in grad school and i need to study for the mcat so i actually do not know what i am thinking and i would basically know no one there so this is also sounding like a bad idea but i already like paid the application fee, i have not signed the lease yet but like it would be bad to back out of it now. i geneuienly do not know, i have not found myself happy or at peace in a bit. tbh the first two weeks of july were fire and then it kind of went downhill but when my true friends were here it felt better. idk

Discussion For The Seniors, what are you going to do in 7-8 months from now ?

I’m excited for this year and I just want to congratulate everyone that has made it to their senior year, as I’m a senior at Indiana University but I just wanted to know what exactly is everyone going to do after graduation? I’m a little nervous myself I’m studying languages and I’m not sure how to get my foot in the door, I wanted to ask what exactly are other seniors doing in their fields to get started with their careers.

My job market isn’t the best right now
So I’m wanting to know is anyone else possibly coming in at a dead end and if so how are you going to move past that

Again also want to wish the seniors a GREAT FINAL YEAR! I’m proud of all of you! 💯💯💯🎓

Personal Development feeling like an NPC in my own life right now

I went to college in the same state I was born and raised in for 18 years. It was a fantastic school, so no regrets there, but I was surrounded by the same friends + people I’ve known my entire life for another 4 years and it feels like I’ve never had any stimulus for growth. I also happened to be in a relationship for all of college that ended only 2 months before graduation, so I didn’t even do the whole “finding yourself” thing.

I have no idea what I want out of life long term, have realized recently that the degree I went to school for no longer applies fully to the career path that interests me, and I’m working remotely from my childhood home, feeling myself regress back into my high school self again. I have plans to move to a new city ASAP, but so far, no job lined up to make that happen so at the moment it’s more of a dream than a plan. Still getting over my college ex, who I thought was going to be the person I spent the rest of my life with.

Just generally feeling lost in life with no real way of finding direction at the moment. People describe college as a period of growth and self discovery, but I honestly can’t point to a significant change in my personality or worldview from when I was 16 until now.

Now I feel like I’m well past “coming of age” age, and still haven’t come of age. I know it’s a common feeling to be lost in your early 20s but geez it feels like I didn’t even try to figure it out until right now.

I feel like I may be wrong about not dropping out and waste my time and father's money and expectations.what should I do?

Discussion College football fomo

I don’t think FOMO is the right word. But as the football season approaches, is anyone else getting like repulsively upset that they can’t be in their college stadiums next weekend? Like idk I always loved it and everything but now I feel like this whole tradition for the past 4 years of my life will never come back and obviously it won’t but ugh. You know?

Advice Weird stage of life

Bhaaaii

Anyone else reached that weird point where you’re technically doing everything you’re supposed to do, but somehow still have absolutely no idea what you’re doing?

Like bro, I have a degree, I’m doing an MBA, I’ve worked before…

…and yet somehow I’m sitting here at 3 AM questioning my life choices.

Anyway, how’s your week going?
