- Governor Paulen (KS) speaks in New York City: “[He’s] the man of the people,” this “race track jockey” who came such an incredible way to become what he was
- Delegate Teddy Roosevelt, Jr. at a Kansas Day dinner: “[Curtis] always measured up to the highest ideal of Americanism”

Feb., 1928:
- Kaw Nation endorses Curtis for President
- The press says: Curtis is a man of "distinction," and one who is "frank, open, serious, virtuous, capable and honorable"
- A New York City HQ opens to support his campaign on the east coast

Mar., 1928:
- Albert "Doc" Newman becomes Curtis' Missouri campaign manager
- Senator Pine (R-OK) endorses him
- He is called a "100% American," meaning the only candidate with truly American roots due to his Kaw heritage

Apr., 1928
- The "Washington Evening Star" notes that Curtis was the economical choice, because he wouldn't have to scratch his initials into the White House furniture, since Cal Coolidge surely already put a C.C. there
- Curtis' daughter, Leona Knight, wins a delegate seat to the Convention from Rhode Island

I saw a previous post about this but it didn’t quite cover my question. For context, I am an American of Irish, Scottish, English, German, and French descent. I was gifted a bundle of white sage by my mom who doesn’t understand that it’s a closed practice. I’ve just been holding on to it, not sure what to do. Is it okay if I burn it for cleansing a space or should I simply stick to incense? Thank you for any advice!

A dear friend of over 25 years recently passed away and left me his copy of Jamie Sams' Sacred Path Cards. He was Native American, and these cards were a deeply personal part of his life and practice.

​I am non-Native, and I want to make sure I approach this gift with total respect. I don't want to just tuck them away in a drawer and forget them—using them feels like a way to honor his memory and stay connected to the bond we shared.

At the same time, I want to be extremely mindful not to misuse or misappropriate sacred traditions.

​I’d really appreciate advice on a few things:

​Approach & Mindset: Is it appropriate for a non-Native person to work with the Sacred Path Cards?

​Learning the System: What is the best way to study and understand the teachings within this deck respectfully? (Are there specific guidebooks, authors, or resources I should look into alongside the included manual?)

​Respectful Practice: Are there traditional protocols, boundaries, or cultural practices I should be aware of when handling or storing a deck like this?

​Thank you so much for your guidance and help in honoring my friend's.

Hello. So I’m not Apache but I have been reading about Apache acorn stews and want to try preparing one myself. I was curious if anyone had any tips for ways to make an acorn stew stand out. I’ve found recipes online that are as simple as meat simmered with corn, maybe squash, and acorn powder. However one or two mentioned adding “secret spices.” Maybe the dish is meant to be a pretty lightly seasoned dish but I wanted to ask if anyone whose prepared it has ever added anything extra for flavor such as more spices or ingredients, and what those spices would be.

How many of you guys just get in car and just go for a Rez lap. Like just staying on the roads of your Rez. I just got done doing one because I was bored and nothing on tv to watch.

I am a 23 year old Ojibwe man and I’ve always had my hair long, and I only cut it in mourning. My hair is around my chest and I’ve been teased by friends and even strangers asking why my hair is so long or to cut it. I love my hair and what it means to me but sometimes it gets too much and I want to cut it all off.
