I’m not sure if this is a revelation, a vent, or if I’m asking for advice. However, all respectful responses are appreciated.
We have progressive and been with them the past 4 years.
1st accident July 2023, someone backed into our SUV as she was pulling out of a parking spot and my husband was driving straight. Damaged our passenger side doors. She had no insurance.
My UM covered the accident. Progressive said they would get our deposit back. Two years later they said “we exhausted all our options and no luck.”
2nd accident March 2026, I was driving straight slowly in front of a school during drop off hours, a car went into the oncoming traffic lane to go around me. He didn’t clear my car and ended up hitting my driver side, damaging my front bumper. Turns out he was an uber driver in an uber rental. Uber was giving us the runaround, so I used my insurance to speed up the repairs. No luck yet with subrogation
3rd accident June 2026, driving straight on a 3 lane one way. Other driver (at high speed) randomly slams into my driver side, pushing me out of my driving lane and into a parked car. Totaled both his car, mine, and the parked car. We both have progressive, he claims he swerved out of the path of a phantom driver from a side street. No one to corroborate his story, but Progressive decides we all have to use our own insurance anyway. They gave us both the same adjuster, and she kept mentioning he might not have enough coverage to cover my vehicle, my injuries, and the other parked car.
Now I’m at 3 accidents. No reimbursements, no explanations. I mean, is this typical? Did we just have a bout of unfortunate luck? should we consider switching auto insurers?
Or is this what it was all along: car insurance is for you, and you only. Maybe that’s it.
I just can’t imagine Progressive not wanting to be reimbursed (with the exception of the last accident)
