There’s an electrical panel on one wall so I have not included options with the crib near it due to safety concerns (unless I’m wrong about that being an issue). Electrical panel is on same wall as the window

Swivel glider has to be cornered since it reclines

We plan to use the large dresser for baby’s clothes, every day items etc and closet will be used for storing things (seasonal gear, baby items that he hasn’t grown into yet, etc) so I don’t plan on needing regular access but the swivel glider is easy to get around or move when needed.

All furniture has been purchased/sizes aren’t flexible so please don’t recommend alternate furniture or getting rid of the changing table (I have had friends suggest only using a dresser with a pad on top but I prefer a dedicated changing table)

Hi, I’ve started this room but it’s feels “off” somehow, I feel the rug might have overkilled the blue, and I maybe need to introduce another colour? I’m thinking a muted olive? Coffee table I bought 12 years ago at 20 years old and is going once I decide on the final colour and whether to do a footstool or wooden coffee table.

Can anyone suggest another colour or something to make the space feel more cohesive? The giant pink pregnancy pillow doesn’t live there it’s just following me round the house at the moment.

Hello, I am creating this post as I am looking for some entryway design ideas. I want to replace the black bench as the fake leather is ripping up. My main goal here is to create a space that isn't congested, has matching colors, and is useful. I would like to have some type of bench to sit and put my shoes on (and potentially store shoes inside of), I would also like to have a place to maybe put (small) packages that were recently delivered. I'm currently thinking about replacing the carpets, the lighting fixtures, and the bench. My main priority at the moment is the bench area (under the mirror). The wall under the mirror is 55 inches in width, and the partial wall next to it that is connected to the beginning of the stair case is 44 inches in width.

Yes I know the plant takes up a lot of space, but there is sentimental reasoning for us holding onto it as it was a gift from my Aunt who passed away from a car crash. I don't expect us to get rid of it. Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Hi, I found a couch that my husband and I really liked in-store, but the dimensions are making me hesitant to buy and I could use some advice. I’m concerned the walkway spacing will be too cramped, as I’ve heard a rule of thumb is keeping min 3 ft of space for high traffic walkways.

Our room is 173” wide from baseboard to baseboard, and said couch is 122”. With 51” leftover, thinking 35” on one side and 16” on the far right? Do you think the couch would swallow up the room? 🤔 the 16” side would just not be a walkway.

For ref the couch in the picture is 102” and doesn’t touch either wall.

I’m struggling to pick a permanent spot for a 65” TV. It’s been sitting on a coffee table for a year now & I hate it.

The fireplace mantle is 50” H and 5” D I’ve been toying over a pull-down mantle mount, or very recently the idea of a rolling tv-stand seemed like it could work. Photos at the end.

I love the fireplace, but I can’t stand craning my neck to watch something since the sofa is only 8’ away. It’s really the only wall that a tv can be on as the other walls have a Murphy bed, windows, or opening to other rooms

Ergonomic TV height is paramount, but I need the solution to be pretty. I’m also worried about cable management with the pull-down tv mount… I don’t know how that works cuz I assume wire needs a certain amount of slack. Does anyone think I need to find a pro to help with my set up?

Hey y’all. My fiance and I recently moved into our first apartment. Our vibe is bohemian/earthy/70s. Our space is pretty big, our living room is huge and bedroom is quite big as well. We have our most important furniture but don’t know where to go from here in terms of decorating and filling up the space. We can hang and install anything into the walls, the only thing we can’t do is paint.

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I hate these counter tops but every fiber of my being, but they are in good condition and my fiance loves them. I don't hate the cabinets but the pairing is awful and with some of the sections having the knots highlighted they aren't super easy to paint over. Wood carries into the front room fireplace and the countertops and wood combo are throughout the house.

What can be done to salvage this look?

I bought this beautiful westwing chair on a sale, i want to separate it from my desk to create separate spaces. i will put a carpet underneath it too. I wanted to place a rack of some kind in between them but im not sure. any ideas?

Hey yall! I just recently moved into a rental, and the bedroom is completely empty, save for built-in wardrobes and a TV. I placed my bed where I wanted and don't know how to fill out the rest of the space. I'm planning on removing the TV since it's fairly useless to me, and there's some scattered stuff on the floor like a fan and an air purifier that won't stay there. I was thinking of maybe hanging some framed NBA jerseys since I'm a fan (I think about three fit on each wall), but don't have much more ideas than that. I want some sort of head table besides the bed too. I hate the wallpaper that is already there, but can't do much about it because it's a rental. I also have a fairly big book collection which I was thinking to place in the living room, but it can go in the bedroom too. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Did we make a mistake and place the wall sconces next to the window too high? I keep going back and forth and can’t decide. The ceiling height here is 10’ tall. If they are too high, is it worth cutting out tile and moving electric to lower them?

We’d love some help figuring out the layout and design of our living/dining room. It has nice dimensions (roughly 4m x 5m) with 3m+ ceilings and south-west facing evening light.

The tricky bits are the fireplace and press (bookcase/ whisky) cupboard, which are both in slightly awkward positions.

The photos are from the estate agent listing, so the furniture shown isn’t ours. We’re looking to update the room (painting, furniture, curtains etc.). We’ve had a play around in Canva with a few ideas, but we're struggling to work out what will make the best use of the space.

My husband & I recently bought a home and are struggling to figure out how to get a cozy living area for TV/Movie nights.

Option 1: Wood Paneled Room (18x13)

- This has a patio door that swings inside 3ft and leaves us with very little width to use the space. We were thinking of turning this more into a library area?

- Feels very open. Wondering if Interior Design Reddit has suggestions on which space to best use and how we could furnish it?

I’m between a 136 inch sectional with bumper chaise (90 inch) or a U shaped 156 inch sectional with double chaise. I want to have a large enough sectional for my husband and I to lounge on as well as fit a couple people when we have guests over. TV would go on the wall with the stairs.

Also thinking if I did a sectional with bumper chaise I could get an ottoman for the other side but unsure if that would be too crowded for a coffee table?

I am a small business owner, who is in the process of launching his first jewelry boutique. I have a relatively small space (32 sqmtr in total) and budget for this project. And naturally, I want to make the best out of the little place I have.

What I have in mind is:

1) A luxurious livingroom feeling sales space, not overcrowded with displays and strong lights. A welcoming space, where you can do the most special/meaningful jewellery of shopping of your life (RE: wedding bands and engagement rings) in complete privacy. You can drink anything off the bar, put your favorite record on the record player...

2) A mini content creation and jewelry care atelier (which I currently seperated with black curtains), in which I will do jewelry photography and do light jewelry care work. Yellow highlighter space beyond redline is meant to be my mini atelier.

This is not a street store. This is an office space on the main floor, facing the "courtyard".

I am uploading floor plan, photos of the office, a layout and AI generated design done by some Alibaba jewelry furniture manufacturer, and some inspiration photos (last 3 photos) of what I have in mind.

I am completely overwhelmed... I don't know where to begin. I had a low budget attempt with an interior designer from a freelancer platform, she was unable to come up with any creative ideas to use the space more efficiently. And that's kind of my dilemma... Is my space impossible to work with and no matter who designs it... There is only so much they could do?..

1) How does one realize a project like this properly? Which professional services would I absolutely need? How much would they cost?

2) Assuming that I have a general idea of what I want to do, what will furniture makers need from me? What kind of files, documents are standart in this line of business?

3) Does it make sense trying my chances again in freelancer platforms for interior designers? What are your experiences?

4) If you were me, how would you handle this project?

My friend is purchasing a house and wants to move the washing machine for more kitchen space. I'm pretty confident that either a wc or washing machine would fit but not sure about both together.

The external door would be changed to a window and obviously a wall would be put up for the toilet.

The side extended version would be more comfy, but would maybe obstruct the passage to the balcony.

New homeowner here and we were thinking about hanging the tv over the fireplace but after reading some posts I am now rethinking tv location. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I'm going crazy trying to figure out the best way to organize the space. In the first layout, there’s a very convenient and beautiful walk-in closet, but the dining table is a real eyesore (I’d get one that converts from a living room table and folds out—that would be the maximum size once it’s open). In the second layout, the open-concept space takes up much more room, but it seems like I wouldn’t have any space at all in the bedroom for closets (there will be two of us living there). Any advice?

P.s don't mind colors, that will be the next drama I'll be dealing with

I'm moving into an apartment with my girlfriend soon with a bedroom layout that looks like this. I messed around with a few layouts and this is the one that gives us the most space throughout the rest of the room, as we both enjoy playing on my VR headset as well.

We haven't bought any furniture yet, but I'll be moving in with my full size bed, my dresser, and she would be bringing a small shelf. I want to try to get a floor plan/layout set in stone before we end up moving in completely, just so we can settle in as quickly as possible.

However I keep looking at this layout and feeling that something's wrong, specifically with the desk setup, but I'm just not sure what. Any suggestions or ideas for a better layout?

A few things to note:
-The room is about 9ftx11.5ft, I don't yet have concrete measurements for the doors.

- The closet door is actually a 4-panel wide bifold door, but the program only has diagrams for sliding closet doors, if that makes a difference at all.

- We plan on getting standing curtain rods and curtains to use as a room divider between the bed and the rest of the room.

- We have a TV that we want mounted so we can lay in bed and watch it, this current layout would mean we would be getting a standing TV mount to put between the foot of the bed and the curtain/room divider.

-We both have gaming PC's, meaning we need desks and chairs for each of us. I don't mind the idea of a side by side desk setup, but I also prefer us having our own slice of solidarity.

I would like to get advice on whether or not to change my floors. My floors are currently LVP grey coloured, built/installed in 2022.

My kitchen cabinets are currently black and I want to change it to a different colour. Having grey floors limits the colours I could choose for my kitchen cabinets. I also want to give the house a different feel by changing the flooring to a more neutral brown.

Would it be wise to replace the floors (and perhaps use it when I build the basement) or just stick with it and choose kitchen cabinets colours that work? The total square footage is more or less 1000.

Appreciate your insights if it would be worth it to spend the money to replace the floors. Mainly wanting to do this reno not so much to update the style but more-so psychological and putting that era of my life behind.

I am redecorating this room where I removed all spot lights and need to redistribute them in a thoughtful way

(we had 12 spotlights distributed equally around the ceiling which wasn’t ideal, it was too much.

I need an experienced person please to advise on the correct spotlight distribution based on the attached room layout.

Under the AC space, we’ll have a dresser/mirror.
Also we’ll have LED strip light as a line in the middle of the room’s ceiling and probably some other lightings like the nightstand light.

I need help serious design advice. This sectional is like a giant Jersey wall in my house but I’m stuck with it. How can I make it less visually dominating in this space? The couch is the only permanent piece, everything else can stay or go. Many pictures to hopefully give a better feel for the room.

I was going to remove the leaner bar in the kitchen . The benchtop is 600 not sure if it enough room once sink and tap are installed. The front door is close to the kitchen and you would see and walk passed the sink as you entered the house ( please see photos)

The foot print of the kitchen will stay they same.

I was thinking may make the leaner bar shorter in hight.

I humbly request your help: I’ve just moved into a new home and have a 6.62 × 3.57 m room (~23.6 m²) that I’d like to turn into my ultimate home office.

My main requirements/dreams are:

• Two proper workstations, each with 3 monitors
• A large, solid-wood desk : custom-built
• Lots of completely free desk surface beyond the computer setups. I love having space to spread out documents, books, projects, etc.
• A substantial library/bookshelf area
• Plenty of elegant closed storage
• Good circulation : I don't want the room to feel crammed with furniture

The room has a somewhat unusual geometry because of the sloped ceiling. The maximum ceiling height is 2.39 m, with the lowest points at 0.95 m on one side and 1.41 m on the other. Obviously, the door and window also need to remain fully usable.

The pictures attached are AI-edited versions of the actual room, simply to remove all the boxes and furniture currently in there - I literally just moved in, so the real room is still full of cartons!

I'm especially interested in ideas about desk shape and placement, how to exploit the low areas under the slopes, bookshelf/storage placement, and what to do with the large central area.

One important detail: I'm reasonably well equipped for woodworking, so this does not need to be based on off-the-shelf furniture. I'm very happy to build the desks, shelving and cabinetry myself if that's what it takes to make the best use of the room.

And if you help me come up with something great, I promise to come back and post updates of the actual build.
