Anywhere around here I can play piano? 🎹
Been trying to get back into playing piano lately. I have a keyboard at home, but it just isn’t the same. I feel more inspired playing an actual piano- grand, baby grand, upright, whatever! Was wondering if there’s anywhere around the area where I could pop in and play for a little while, or maybe reserve some time on one?
Thanks in advance!

Missing Whole Foods deliveries
Anyone having issues with Whole Foods deliveries this past week? I’ve had 2 in one week. Reported it. There are some in our neighborhood who had the same issue. Just checking if it is limited to our neighborhood or something else going on.
Edit - Went to cedar park WF and got this number to contact to report incidents. We have had at least 6 neighbors with the same issue. Also learnt that they don’t do deliveries.

Hot Dog Stand
Does anyone know of anyone in the area that owns/operates a hot dog stand? My daughter is getting married in May and she really wants to have a hot dog stand at the venue (in Gruene). Any recommendations are welcomed and appreciated!

Prepare for the cricket invasion.
Thanks to the hot days and stormy cooler nights the last two days the field crickets are coming out now. My neighborhood is already overflowing with them. Does anyone have any good deterrents or best practices because I have an irrational fear from childhood of crickets and don't need them inside my house.

Developers pitch 2,250 single-family homes in northwest Leander
communityimpact.comHi! My name is Hamera and I cover Leander/Liberty Hill for Community Impact.
I wanted to share a quick story about a proposed concept for the northern area of Leander. Developers pitched plans to build 2,250 single-family units on two tracts spanning 833 acres near CR 280 during the city council's Aug. 20 meeting.
Since the presentation was intended to gauge whether the Leander City Council was interested in the project, no action was taken to approve any permits or other agreements. However, city leaders asked for more information on the transportation and water elements relating to the project.

Home Daycare Recommendations
My son is 2 years, 3 months old and started daycare about three weeks ago. He’s struggling to adjust. When I drop him off or pick him up, I notice other toddlers left crying without anyone attending to them, and I’m concerned he may be doing the same for stretches of the day without support. The staff has told me he’s crying on and off throughout the day, and I’ve noticed I only get text updates (no pictures) on the days he’s most upset.
I’m looking to pull him out and switch to a home daycare, since I think a smaller, more consistent caregiver setup would help him form a primary attachment he doesn’t seem to have right now.
If anyone has recommendations for home daycares in the Leander area (or nearby), I’d appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Missing kitty - pls help!
Hi all! My sister and her family recently moved to Leander and they don’t use reddit which is why I’m posting. But please read on regarding their missing kitty and please don’t hesitate to message me if you’ve seen her.
Missing kitty! Last seen 8/26 445 pm.
We traced her air tag to our neighbors car who had driven 15 min away…all we found is the collar stuck under the underbelly.
Neighbor left home around 452 according to ring and went to Leander library, cedar park rec center, and Freddy’s off Whitestone and 183.
She could be anywhere please help if you’ve seen her

De-Flock Leander website
deflockleander.orgThe amazing folks working on this project for months and months have made this website outlining our city's relationship with Flock cameras.
I am so impressed by these incredible people and their hard work. I am also furious with our city and government for this egregious violation.
Please check out this website and share it with everyone. Join me in anger and solidarity. See you all on Sept 3rd!

We're Passing out FREE Groceries Thursday (8/27)
galleryEDIT: WE MOVED INSIDE THE BUILDING DUE TO RAIN We're doing our monthly food distribution for the Leander/ Cedar Park area this Thursday (8/27) from 5-7pm at 2001 West New Hope Drive, Cedar Park, Texas. Like normal, there is no income verification, and you don't have to live nearby. Just show up and get food. We do ask for the number of people in your home and your zip just for grant reporting purposes. It's tough out there so share this with people in need or come yourself, even if you are employed.
If you want to help, setup starts at 4:30pm. We also need to people to help with the distribution from 5-7pm and we can always use a few hands to break down at 7pm. No special skills required. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me.

Great ObGyn Recommendations
Hi all! Currently seeing an OBGYN but looking to switch and would love recommendations from this community specifically.
What I'm looking for:
- Listens well and doesn't rush appointments
- Not quick to jump to aggressive treatment — prefers to discuss options
- Experience with PCOS, especially for those trying to conceive
- Ideally affiliated with Ascension or St. David's network (or ARC)
- Bonus if you've had a good delivery experience with them too
Would really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences — good or bad. Doctor names + why you liked (or didn't like) them would be super helpful. Thank you! 🙏
UPDATE: I'm looking at getting an appointment with Dr. Miranda McMillin. If anyone has good or bad experience with her, I would appreciate hearing about that as well

De-flock Leander- City Council meeting
mobilize.usWe've passed 1300 signatures on my petition in one week!! I am so impressed with how the community is coming together over this issue. Here's what's next!
We will be speaking at the Leander city council meeting on September 3rd, 2026 at 7pm.
We need as many people as possible to show up at this meeting to tell the city council that their constituents are demanding that Flock cameras and all ALPR's be removed permanently from our communities. We know that we are the majority and now we need to show up to make our voices heard.
We will be meeting at the Leander Beer Market (across the street from the Municipal Hall) at 5:30pm before the city council meeting to rally, have a beer, and help anyone wanting assistance with what to say or how to say it. You don't need to have talking points, just a voice. If you are able to come, please sign up on
https://www.mobilize.us/noalprs/event/1014913/
It's preferred for community members to speak in person. But if you can't, please leave a statement on Leandertx.gov under "Public Comment Request" (linked below). I will post the agenda item/case number when the official agenda for this date is released*
https://www.leandertx.gov/FormCenter/City-Secretary-6/Public-Comments-Request-92
Share this with everyone you know in Leander. I truly believe we can dismantle mas surveillance in Leander if we all come together. LET'S DO THIS!!!

COMMUNITY CALL TO ACTION
THIS ISN'T A LEFT OR RIGHT ISSUE. IT'S A WHO-HAS-THE-KEYS ISSUE.
Leander has fifteen Flock cameras logging every vehicle that drives past them — plate, make, color, time, location — into a searchable database.
Here's the question the city hasn't answered: who is watching the people who can search it?
Earlier this month, the Washington Post reviewed police and court records nationwide and found at least 50 law enforcement officers charged with or accused of misusing license plate readers. In 26 of those cases, investigators and prosecutors concluded the officers used the system to spy on wives, girlfriends, exes, or their exes' new partners.
These aren't hypotheticals.
— A Georgia woman learned her ex-boyfriend, the police chief of a nearby town, had run her plate and her teenage daughter's roughly 600 times.
— A Florida officer entered his estranged ex-wife's plate into the system 717 times over less than two years.
— Another Florida officer ran his ex-girlfriend's plate 69 times, her mother's 24 times, and her father's 15 times. It spread to her whole family.
— A Missouri officer admitted using Flock to find out where his ex-wife was during their divorce. Investigators determined he had committed no crime under state law.
Read that last one again. He admitted it. It wasn't illegal.
Most of these women didn't find out from a police department. They found out from public records.
There is no federal law governing any of this. Roughly 18,000 police agencies write their own rules. When Flock's CEO was pressed to build in tighter limits on how officers use his product, he said: "No one elected me the police chief of America."
He's right. Nobody elected him. Nobody elected the database. And nobody in Leander voted on this.
So, whatever you think about policing, about this council, about anything else — ask the plain question. Would you hand a stranger a log of everywhere your wife, your daughter, or your mother drove this month, and trust that eighteen thousand separate agencies will all police themselves?
City Council meets Thursday, September 3 at Pat Bryson Municipal Hall, 201 N. Brushy Street.
We need an overwhelming amount of support in getting city council to understand we don't want this in our community. Last city council meeting they had about 40 speakers against the Lagoon development which they unanimously voted against because of the community support, but we need 60 or more because there could be some incentive for some of them to vote for the cameras.
They need to know their seat is at stake and they work for us!
We're meeting at 5:30 PM just outside city council to go over what council can actually do and help you write your three minutes. Then we walk over together.
You don't have to agree with us about anything else to agree about this.

Anyone know what happened at Vista Ridge HS during today’s SAT (Aug. 22)?
My child was taking the SAT this morning at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park on Aug 22, 2026. About 20 minutes before the exam was supposed to end, an emergency alarm went off and all students were evacuated from the building.
They waited outside for quite some time and were eventually told to go home because the SAT administration was being cancelled/voided. Students were told that College Board would arrange a makeup exam, but they were not given details about what caused the emergency.
Does anyone here have a student who was at Vista Ridge for the SAT today, or know what actually triggered the evacuation/alarm?
Also interested to hear if anyone has received any communication from College Board or Vista Ridge/Leander ISD about the makeup test date.
Hope everyone at the school was safe.

Leander rejects zoning change for proposed lagoon-anchored Leander Springs development
communityimpact.comHi all! My name is Hamera and I cover Leander/Liberty Hill for Community Impact.
I wanted to share that the Leander City Council rejected the proposed zoning changes to the Leander Springs development last night. Dozens of residents came out to voice their opinions on the project (at some point, the fire marshal didn't allow more spectators into the main meeting room).
Regardless, community members listened in on the hearing, which began just shy of 8pm, in the meeting room and from the lobby. For over two hours, many residents voiced concern over the project's impact on groundwater, traffic and noise pollution. Meanwhile, developers and supporters highlighted the project's potential to raises sale tax revenue for Leander and bring amenities closer to the community.
At 10:45pm, the council voted unanimously to reject the proposed zoning change, meaning that the project won't be moving forward with its proposed zoning changes, including the lagoon.

OBGYN— New to area
I’m 28 weeks pregnant and need recommendations! If possible I would like to find a soft spoken female who is kind and nonjudgmental with leanings towards a holistic approach. I’m thinking about delivering at Dell Children’s if that helps? Thanks for any advice!
