Meta Testing new AutoMod

Hey everyone.

We are testing a new auto mod, yes using a bit of AI. The only instructions it has are to enforce the current rules, plus some minor nuances.

It will most likely overcorrect, and we can tweak it as we go, and if it is just really bad we can turn it off, but what is most likely to happen is that it will do a good job and a better job than the regular auto mod at catching rule breaking posts, and def better than humans at catching what the regular auto mod missed and posts that have not been reported, and this will lead to a lot more posts being removed which will prob make it feel more heavy handed. So maybe an adjustment period is needed.

If your post was removed, and you have read all the rules and posts related to the rules, and you still think it was removed in error, message us mods with the message the mods button in the sidebar/app. Don't just message us asking why it was removed.

May the odds be ever in your favor, but I, for one, welcome our new robot overmods...

Experience 2nd time I’ve watched a dream characters lucid dream

Upvotes

For the second time this week I’ve watched as two seperate dream entity’s become lucid inside their own dreams. I watched as each one went to bed and had a subsequent dream in which they realised they were dreaming and became lucid.

I’m a little annoyed it’s them not me but I’m more intrigued and in awe at the coolness of it all lol. What is interesting is that both characters became lucid after noticing a CEV overlayed onto their dream state that was present in their
“waking life” before they went to bed. It’s interesting because I only learned about closed eye visuals a while ago and couldn’t see a link between them and dreaming. Is there a link I’m not seeing that my dream is trying to tell me is there?

Has anybody else experienced something like this? Please share.

Question I’ve mentally sabotaged my lucid dreaming attempts. Got myself suck In a cycle and need help

I've been trying to learn lucid dreaming for a while now, but at this point it's starting to feel more exhausting than anything.

My first attempt was interesting. I tried WBTB + WILD and got surprisingly close to what felt like entering a dream. I experienced sleep paralysis and felt like I was sort of falling into a lucid dream, but eventually it didn't happen. I wasn't too bothered by it since it was my first attempt.

The problem is that I haven't been able to recreate that experience since. Most of my attempts have ended unsuccessfully, although a few nights later I randomly had a short DILD/semi-lucid experience. I was having a completely normal dream when suddenly I thought, “Wait, am I dreaming?” I did a reality check and realized that I was. I didn't really have much control, though. Still, I guess that at least proves I'm capable of becoming lucid?

Since then, I've been struggling a lot with WILD. I've tried WBTB + WILD several times, and I seem to always end up with one of two things, either I fall asleep normally and completely lose my awareness, or I stay too mentally awake and end up lying there unable to fall asleep or

I've tried a bunch of different things. Going to bed earlier, setting an alarm for around 4–5 hours after falling asleep, using natural awakenings when they happen, only being awake for a few minutes before going back to bed, getting comfortable, clearing my mind, etc. I tried anchors, mantras, focusing on hypnagogic imagery, and other techniques. The biggest issue is that my mind just constantly jumps from one random thought to another. I don't really know how much I'm supposed to ignore them, its so difficult because they never stop.

And then there's the whole “stay aware, but don't try too hard” thing. I understand the concept, but I honestly have no idea what that is supposed to feel like in practice. How do you actually do that? I know WILD isn't about forcing yourself to stay awake, but once I'm lying there with the intention of falling asleep while also trying to maintain some awareness, I don't know what I'm actually supposed to be doing mentally.

I've thought about this a lot, and I think I've figured out part of the problem. I'm overthinking this, constantly monitoring myself. I know I shouldn't do that, but my mind does anyway.

In my first attempt, I wasn't thinking about any of this. I wasn't worried about whether I was doing WILD correctly or whether I'd fall asleep. I just had this really strong feeling that I could do it but now it's just filled with "what if" and "is it working yet?" I'm exhausted honestly. I accidentally got myself into this cycle and I don't know how to break out of it.

What would you guys recommend at this point? I know the obvious advice is probably going to be “take a break from WILD” or “don't focus on lucid dreaming for a while,” but I don't really want to give up on WILD. I just don't want every attempt to turn into me lying there for ages, overanalyzing everything, and ending up disappointed.

For those of you who learned LD successfully, how did you get past this mental cycle? How do you stop worrying about whether you're doing it right when you're already aware that you're worrying about it?

Experience LD is like a video game

I’ve been naturally lucid dreaming for at least 10 years, or since my early childhood. I went from rarely lucid dreaming to every night, and still continuously LD nightly. I’ve always thought that LD is kind of like a video game— you progress by levels, and if you try and do it all at once, chances are it doesn’t work out (though there are always exceptions, in dreams especially). I say I lucid dream nightly, but that doesn’t mean each and every dream has full control— they all just have some degree of control, usually the baseline, for me, is flight— because that seems to be my go to lol. Here’s a couple of my personal observations/techniques for inside of dreams and myth busting:

  1. If something doesn’t work, think of it differently. Can’t fly by thinking ‘up’? Think of a gust of wind carrying you instead. Or a super jump, or literally whatever comes to mind.

  2. Focus on what’s there, not what isn’t. If you’re trying to slip into a LD, don’t think about how you feel ur eyes or how vague the dream looks, try to focus on what’s is there, and build from that. A purple blob? Maybe when you look from this angle it’s a dragon

  3. In my experience, changing something that’s already there is much easier than pulling something out of thin air. Making a goldfish into a sea monster is much easier than just making a sea monster, most of the time.

  4. Ground things to something. LDs are like sandbox games, you gotta create the rules if you want stuff to work. You wanna change the setting? Well maybe for that you need a spell book or a wand or literally anything! Dreams love conditionals for some reason.

  5. Dream experiences are different for everyone. There’s no general ‘you can’t check the time’ or ‘don’t look in mirrors’ stuff reacts differently for everyone, and it’s highly affected by the state of the dream, and your mindset. If the dream is more reactive, characters and objects will follow your mood more. If the dream is more stubborn and you have less control, the possibilities are less predictable.

  6. Even though I’m only recently getting into LD techniques, my favorite baseline ‘reality check’ is, if you’re thinking about doing it, you’re in a dream. You would not be seriously considering robbing that bank if you were in real life (probably) or diving off that cliff, or stealing that car (hopefully). This specific check is kind of specialized on the scenario though, I just find it works. Dreams are very good at convincing you that doing crazy things is completely normal.

Anyways have fun happy dreaming lol!

Persistent Realms

Recently, I've been going pretty intense on lucid dreaming and have reached a strong level in recall and how frequent my LDs are.

I feel like I am close or I can begin looking at my main goal of why I started LDing which is persistent realms. Mainly I just have some points/questions that anyone who has a bit of knowledge/experience with PRs can answer please:

1. I once heard of a method to create a PR which is to sort of "create" it in real life by writing all about it down and look for it in your dreams: is this the best method/does it work? And what other methods are there that work?

2. What is the limit? I know this might sound like a stupid question but is it actually possible to create a world that's as detailed as real life and has many hidden plots/events, realistic relationships, realistic luck mechanics etc. Also, for example If I want to go to a world that is very different to this one like backrooms or avatar can my brain really simulate all the effects/physics and all those little details.

3. Time dilation: I don't 100% know how time dilation works. Does it work like movie time skips or is it possible to genuinely make it like real life where it felt like you spent a day (Just like real life) and you can recall it like you spent a day. I kind of need a deep explanation because I am really confused about time dilation.

4. Short but is it actually possible to return to the very moment you left the dream with all the events/content "saved" exactly even if you have not returned to it in a few nights.

5. How do you make yourself less "potent" for realism purposes. Like how do you make it so lose your usual omnipotency/power in dreams. And other stuff like be able to feel pain/remove plot armour in general.

6. This one is more for those with a lot of experience in persistent realms but any tips or advice you would give or common misconceptions you can clear?

Question How can I do FILD without an alarm?

So I sleep in the same room as my parents and therefore if I turn on an alarm at 3 in the morning they will scold me like hell. For waking up in the night for MILD I would just drink a bunch fo water and wake up in the middle of the night to piss. But I think movement should not be done for FILD. Any ideas

i think this was my first time lucid dreaming, or like breaking the 4th wall in a dream. i don’t remember much about the dream, but i was my current self at my grandmother’s house (who passed away 6 years ago) with one of my cousins. i suddenly said to my grandmother “you’re not actually here, right? you’re dead. this isn’t real” and my grandmother said “that’s correct” and that’s all i remember

Do you recommend any supplements for dream recall?

Hello fellow oneironauts!

I have been following some routine (using WBTB) to study and navigate my dreams after embarking in a personal spiritual journey. I tend to try to do what’s called “dream yoga”.

But lately I have been having trouble remembering my dreams. It was easy at the start of my spiritual journey, but now I tend to forget them the moment I wake up. Even if I am lucid or semi lucid in the dream. I have tried mugwort and blue lotus tea, but nothing seems to work as a dream enhancer or improve dream recall.

So, have you tried any supplements/drugs to improve dream recall? And is this something you’d recommend? If so, which herb, supplement or drug help with dream recall?

Experience First time randomly lucid dreaming scared the crap out of me

I just had my first experience lucid dreaming. It was totally random and I didnt prepare anything to induce it. Also scared the crap out of me lol Ive heard a few things on how to lucid dream but never really had intrest in trying. My dreams are usually chaotic and random as hell as it is so I decided to not really take to much interest. The method I'd heard most of was asking someone the time.

I was laying in bed with my partner( or so I thought) and we were cuddling and talking.. alot calmer than my usual dreams when the energy shifted and I felt fear that my partner wasn't really my partner. The type of fear that puts a knot in your stomach. So I started to sit up and for some reason asked what the time was. It was so weird its like my brain knew I could ask that to become conscious even though I have never tried to.. as soon as I asked my partners body started to turn black.. like shadow figure black and I started to panic and told myself to wake up and I did.. I laid there confused/scared and started hearing tapping noises around my room so I panicked and grabbed my phone to turn on the flashlight to check around the room.. luckily nothing was there.. im so glad there wasn't. Another thing to add it felt like I was in the dream for hours but it was only 30 minutes....

Has anyone else had anything weird happen to them like this ?? 😭😭 is lucid dreaming dangerous..? Cause like why would there be some entity posing as my partner..

Experience Ugh It Happened

So you know how everybody's first lucid dream usually ends pretty quickly cause they get to excited...

Welp here's my dream

I'm on a school trip walking thru a gas station and I grab some gum to eat.

We walk into a huge amphitheatre with fancy lights, and someone ahead of me asks me if I'm chewing gum, I say shhh.

A teacher walks onto the stage and starts talking about shit.

I was worried I would get seen eating the gum so I walk up further away from the teacher and end up sitting in a row of people who are all gaming on steam decks, my own steam deck appears in my hands, (It is at this time I realized) so then I kinda like fast traveled to the other side of the amphitheatre and tried to turn the teacher into a pixie dragon (lol it was what I first thought of though) I hear a sound effect, get super excited then... I wake up

Question Was it lucid?

I distinctly remember a specific scene and what I did, then lost it. At that moment, I remember telling myself (hearing my thought) “hey, that was really realistic, let me do that again”. I then recreated the exact same scene and continued living in it for longer than the first one, then it ended.

When I woke up, I remembered telling myself to recreate the dream and I can remember specific details like what I could hear, what my hands could feel, etc, but in the moment I never told myself that I was in a dream.

Question Am I getting closer to lucid dreaming? (Help)

I've had a few interesting experiences recently. In one dream, I realized I might be dreaming and did the pinched-nose reality check—I could still breathe. I then tried snapping to change the scene, but it didn't work, and the dream felt so real that I started doubting whether I was actually dreaming.

In another dream, I was at my old school with some old friends and somehow just knew I was dreaming without doing a reality check. I tried changing the scene by going through a door, but later scenes weren't really under my control.

More recently, I was dreaming at home when I thought, “It may be a dream.” I immediately woke up. After that, I tried WILD twice. Both times, dream-like scenes formed, but I became too conscious/alert during the transition and woke up.

So far I haven't had a long, stable lucid dream, but these moments seem to be happening more often. Has anyone else experienced this stage before getting their first proper lucid dream?

Do I need to start a dream journal?

Well I have never ld-d , and the closest I've come to it was realizing that breathing under water is really something i wasn't able to do before and it's kinda wierd. I don't dream EVERY night but most of the time I do. They are usually really really long , complex and convoluted with complete plot lines and I remember mostly all of it when I wake up. So I am just asking if I need to start a journal first to remember even more or I can try to do ld techniques?

Experience Probable First (Awful) Experience.

I'm writing this at 12:47 AM, just moments after I woke up. I laid down to sleep at around 10:30PM-ish.

At first I think I was sort of inside the Dead Air campaign of Left 4 Dead 2? Literally what I was playing earlier. Shortly after, I'm in the living room, sitting by a window and I think I was sitting next to someone.

I think I her knocks at first but ignored it. Then I hear a familiar voice through the window calling me: "Hey."

The moment I look, I see my dad partialy exposed in the window frame. For a split second, I see him pointing a small carbine at my face, from behind the window. I manage to weave my head so he doesn't shoot at my face, but the bullet hits my shoulder, then I take two or three more in my arms and one in my torso. Those looked like .22s but they were feeling like .357.

I was FEELING. I felt every shot and I was never ever been shot, nor we own firearms. I've never fired a weapon, only airsoft.

I swear I heard dad saying something like "That didn't hit/I missed." Then he went around the house to get to the kitchen and reach me, but I was faster and got to him first. He was riding his bicycle and holding the carbine, pointing at me. I managed to snatch it and push him away. He falls but the way he reacted felt like he was under the influence of something. I hear chatter, from where he came from, there were other people looking for me.

I eventually went past the garage, there was a police-like car outside. My first instincts was to shoot back, but I immediately surrender and raise my hands, trying to get to some cover, shouting something along the lines of “PLEASE, we can negotiate-- I'll go to jail, I'll do jail time I swear”. I knew exactly what this was about. I never been to jail.

Then this police officer, pointing whatever his gun was, fired at me a couple times as he approached and forced me down, kicking me and hitting me with a baton.

And I was still feeling everything.

When he finished I struggled to get up and my dad showed up, looking thin and staring blankly at me as I stood at a safe distance.

I immediately asked: “Have you drugged yourself...??” Then he aggrees immediately: "Yeah."

We just got back inside the house and then I looked at myself. There were so many bruises and scars where each projectile hit.

Once again, I was feeling everything.

Then I slowly opened my eyes as I woke up, I couldn't believe what just happened, but one thing I was sure. If this wasn't a lucid nightmare, it was either a premonition or a warning. A warning for me to lock the fuck in and set my life straight.

I don't have any criminal records whatsoever and I might as well keep it that way.

I think I'm having a hard time going back to sleep after this.

Provavelmente.

How do YOU feel lucid dreaming connects with spirituality has it helped you with connecting with you self? Has it done the opposite? Did spirituality help you with lucid dreaming? Was it the over way around? I’m open to all interpretations of this and your perspectives. How has your journey with both been and how have the intertwined if so?

My first day trying to have lucid dreams with the FILD form

Hi everyone, this is my first time trying to have lucid dreams using the FILD method. My day went like this: at 9:45 p.m. I started telling Gemini how to do it and it told me to move my fingers mentally, but the AI made a mistake and it was physically, but I only realized it the next day. At 10:00 p.m. I took a shower, at 10:30 I got out of the shower and went to bed, and I fell asleep at 11:00 p.m. I have to say that I set an alarm for 4:30 a.m., which was during my REM sleep phase, to do the FILD technique. When I fell asleep, I woke up twice before the alarm went off, and I only tried the technique once, but since I didn't move my fingers, only mentally, it didn't work. However, I did have two dreams. When the alarm went off, I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep, so I decided to write down my two dreams because it was completely dark. After writing them down, about 30 minutes passed before I washed my face and fell asleep. I don't know how, and that was my experience. I'll try it again today. If you know how to improve the FILD form or any tricks, please tell me. See you.

Question Four mornings in a row of varying lengths of lucid dreams. Would like some advice on some aspects.

Basically what the title says, so I'll go into specifics.

So the first day it was about 5 seconds of a lucid dream. My eyes felt heavy and when I tried to open them more, I opened my eyes in real life.

Second day the dream was a good 15 or so minutes! The next day was short, and then this morning's was maybe a minute.

Here's some aspects I'm having trouble with. Firstly, it's hard to keep things looking real. I've experimented with rubbing my hands together and licking things. Rubbing my hands together don't do much of anything, and licking stuff is fun but not very good at keeping me lucid or making things more grounded. Are there other techniques I can do?

Closing my eyes at all makes me wake up. It's like when the dream vanishes or my sight vanishes, I'm aware of the back of my eyelids suddenly and so I'm awake. It's a little hard to explain.

I'm worried some of this is because it's in the morning. I constantly wake up throughout the night over and over during dreams, but it's only in the mornings I can find myself in a lucid dream. Furthermore, it ALWAYS happens when I'm dreaming about being in my house. This includes past random lucid dreams.

I feel like at the end of the day it's just going to be about practice and trial and error. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Question Can you talk to your subconscious in a lucid dream?

Hello I'm very new to this Lucid dreams thing (even if I experienced it one time) , and lately I've realized that my subconscious beliefs are holding me back from what I truly want I once heard someone that lucid dreaming can help wit this , is it true?

2 separate things

might be a little unrelated, but I figured this is a good place to put this since people here probably know what their talking about

  1. Was dreaming the other day by accident and I realized i was dreaming, upon this realization, the people in the dream started trying to hunt me down and hurt me, I woke up when they killed me. If it were to happen again, how would I prevent them from doing this?

  2. A while ago, i was in a normal (non lucid dream) where I was in my living room talking with my friends. Things were a little weird as per usual with dreams, when all of the sudden something very strange happened. Its hard to explain, but the only way I could describe it was that I was in 2 places at once. Still in the living room with friends but also in my room downstairs at the same time. This was very challenging to comprehend, made me incredibly scared and dizzy, and my brain could only handle it for about 6 seconds before i woke up.

if anyone has any similar experiences or insight to either of these, it would be greatly appreciated
