I just started a new job last week, and thankfully I have some experience in dermatology, so I’ve been able to catch on pretty quickly. Because they’re so short-staffed right now, I actually didn’t receive any training at all. For the things I didn’t know, I’ve basically had to learn by asking questions and figuring things out as I go.

There’s a medical assistant I work with who up until now has been really nice to me. Whenever I had questions or needed help, she seemed happy to help me, so I felt like we were getting along fine.

Well yesterday I went up to the front desk to ask if they needed me to clean the break room. We had a rep cater Chipotle and I didn’t want to leave a mess for whoever happened to be the last person in the office.

Unfortunately as I walked up to the front desk, I realized this MA was talking to my boss about me and she was NOT saying nice things. I was completely caught off guard because I genuinely had no idea she felt that way.

I acted like I hadn’t heard a word and just asked my boss if they needed me to clean the break room. I didn’t want to make a scene obviously or let them know I had overheard.

About 10 minutes later that same MA came back over to me acting all giggly and friendly. She told me that our boss had asked her how I was doing, and apparently she told her that the doctor needs to realize I’m still learning and needs to cut me some slack.

Except that is definitely NOT what I heard her saying. And the doctor has actually been incredibly nice to me and has never made me feel like I’m doing a bad job.

Then today, which is our normal day off my boss randomly texted me, “Hey girl!! I hope you are having a great day.”

Now I’m wondering if my boss feels guilty or is worried that I heard the conversation and is trying to feel me out. I know people talk about others, it’s just being human. But I don’t ever talk about my coworkers to other people in the office. Or speak about them in an ugly manner.

I’m trying not to overreact or create drama, especially because I’m brand new and I really do want to like this job. But I also don’t want to be naive about the situation or continue being overly friendly with someone who is saying things about me behind my back that could potentially cause me issues.

What would you all do? Would you address it with the MA, say something to my boss, or just keep my head down, stay professional, and let it go?

Any Medical Assistants who work in the General Surgery department? I wanted to ask, what's a typical work day? What duties do you perform? What is the patient count? Is it M-F 8-5? Are you generally happy in this department?

Hi everyone, I wondering if anyone here is an expert at EPIC lol. We just made the switch and everyone seems to be so confused despite the trainings. I feel like we were not prepared.

My only question I have is if anyone else works at a clinic where most patients use quest for labs? When doing an intake, it doesn’t give the option of what lab a patient uses so when they are checking out, the lab requisition isn’t printing, it only says what was ordered in their AVS. No one seems to know but others are just saying that the labs just get automatically sent to every lab? I just don’t want to give pts the wrong answers 😭😭

I recently took a drug test for work and I found out a week later I failed, I took multiple at home drug tests before. But I still failed the actual one, no 3 weeks later I am able to retest for the job and I need to know if this at home drug test is even good enough to tell me, I tested on my girlfriend and all of hers were solid lines, I’ll put a picture in, the 1st picture is from 3 weeks ago and the second picture will be from today, can anybody tell me if the second picture will pass? Also the drug is THC that I am trying to pass
