One of the main reasons men issues aren't taken seriously is .... guess what.... other men!!!

Seems like tons of men are either traditional conservatives who still see men as disposable tools that need to be held to thier masculine duties that prioritizes women and put them on a pedestal or they're male feminists that prioritizes women needs and emotions too and any gynocenteric ideology/position , or an obsessed with women guy that all he cares about is getting the ladies impress the ladies get the girls happy wife happy life types Men prioritizing women either in a conscious or unconscious way The men's issues are self inflicted thing is kind of a real thing (not 100%) but still... men making fun of other men's issus emotions struggles hobbies and interests the way they dress the way they express themselves along side with being homophobic toward men but seeing lesbian bi women as cool (alot of theres an imposter between us jokes among guys refering to gay men )

Even in the way of thinking alot of guys come with an already settled mentality with gynobaised brain ready to defend and empathize women and dismiss other men and see them as enemies or competition.

Also For me it kinda seems sometimes that everyone is apathetic and not really enthusiastic about the cause in this sub anymore

I genuinely believe that some feminists read the dictionary definition of feminism and label themselves as feminists because the dictionary definition is innocent sounding enough. That's perhaps the key part of the motte and bailey argument that so many feminists use.

My experiences with feminists though have largely involved a lot of being openly told that women are superior to men, and seeing men be demonised in a way that you would treat some sort of sub-human.

I stumbled upon this book and I am interested in reading it. But was looking to see how people found it. It seems to be a book written by an author who noticed male victims of DV in his life and began to research DV.

Often finding that research and resources only focused on female victims and male perpetrators. So he decided to write this book based on stories he read and people he knew who experienced DV. To hopefully show parts of how male victims face abuse.

I haven't seen any mention of this book on this subreddit. But what I've seen about it and the parts I've read so far, seem to reflect what this sub would like to see from a book of this nature.

I recently heard that teachers are more likely to grade female students better than male students, even with the same academical fluency, due to female traits being rewarded by teachers. I personally find it really disapointing because I have quite bad learning difficulties due to ADHD making school and other work way harder for me than for a normal person. What are your thoughts on this?

i think it’s weird how so many women who claim to be feminists constantly act like they’re better than men. are we forgetting that the feminist movement means that both women and men have EQUAL rights??

and don’t even get me started on how some women blame men for EVERYTHING. take the Lindsey Clancy case for example. she’s clearly guilty of murdering her children but many people love to pin the blame on her husband when he wasn’t even home at the time!

I'm from Kolkata, West Bengal, and lately I've been asking myself a question:

When did men's problems stop mattering?

When a man is sexually harassed or abused, the first reaction often isn't compassion. It's suspicion.

"What did he do?"

"Why didn't he stop it?"

"He's a man, how can he be a victim?"

Many people struggle to even acknowledge that men can be victims of sexual abuse, stalking, coercion, domestic violence, or emotional abuse. Instead of support, they are often met with jokes, disbelief, or outright ridicule.

A man gets secretly recorded without consent? People laugh.

A man gets stalked? It's treated as harmless.

A man is falsely accused? People say that's the price men have to pay.

A man is struggling mentally? He's told to be stronger.

A man talks about loneliness? He's called weak or entitled.

Where is the compassion?

Society constantly talks about equality, but many men feel that equality only seems to move in one direction. There are numerous programs, scholarships, incentives, hostels, reserved opportunities, financial assistance schemes, and welfare initiatives specifically designed for women and girls. Whether one agrees with the reasons behind those programs or not, they undeniably exist.

Meanwhile, many ordinary men—especially poor men, unemployed men, homeless men, victims of abuse, or men struggling with mental health—often feel there are very few conversations about their problems and even fewer systems designed to help them.

The response is usually: "Men have privilege."

But privilege doesn't comfort the boy being abused.

It doesn't help the man being stalked.

It doesn't protect the man being falsely recorded and publicly shamed.

It doesn't support the man suffering from depression who feels he has nobody to talk to.

Acknowledging women's challenges is important. But why does acknowledging men's challenges generate so much hostility?

Wanting support for male victims shouldn't be controversial.

Wanting compassion for men shouldn't be controversial.

Wanting equal concern for a victim regardless of gender shouldn't be controversial.

A society that genuinely believes in equality should be able to care about everyone—not just the groups whose suffering is considered socially acceptable to discuss.

Am I the only one who feels that male victims and men's issues are largely invisible in public discourse today, especially in India?

I came across the U.S. Sentencing Commission's data on this and honestly found the numbers pretty hard to ignore.

The Commission looked at more than 300,000 people sentenced in federal courts between 2017 and 2021. After controlling for the personal and offense characteristics available in their data, female defendants received sentences 29.2% shorter than male defendants and were 39.6% more likely to receive probation. Even among people who were actually sentenced to prison, women's sentences were still 11.3% shorter.

And this isn't just from one study. The Commission has studied demographic differences in federal sentencing for years, and its earlier research also found shorter sentences for female offenders after controlling for various sentencing factors.

I'm not saying this automatically proves that judges are deliberately discriminating against men. The USSC itself says its data can't account for everything, including some differences in charging, plea bargaining, and other characteristics or decisions that weren't available in the data. It specifically says the study doesn't establish the cause of the disparity.

But that's kind of the point. If there is a difference this large, shouldn't we be trying to figure out exactly why it's there?

A nearly 30% difference in sentence length isn't a small thing when we're talking about someone's freedom.

If we found a comparable difference going the other way, I think we'd reasonably want to know what was causing it.

So what do you think is behind this? Differences that aren't captured by the data? Differences in charging or plea deals? Judicial discretion? Something else?

And if further research actually confirms that comparable men are receiving harsher outcomes because they're men, what should the legal system do about it?

Medicaid Expansion and Firearm Suicide Mortality Among Black and White Men: A State-Level Retrospective Study, United States, 2000-2023, from the American Journal of Public Health (Aug 2026, 116(8):1095-1103).

It appears the American Journal of Public Health has adopted the APA standard of framing masculinity as a harmful doctrine.

This recent peer reviewed journal article approved for publication by the American Journal of Public Health states that "recognizing that masculine norms such as self-reliance and reluctance to seek mental health care may shape how policy interventions influence men's health."

The authors concluded that "reducing firearm suicides requires strategies combining expanded health coverage and approaches that challenge harmful masculine norms, advance racial equity, and reduce access to lethal means."

What's missing from their shallow sexist analysis is any consideration of social determinants (poverty, lack of access to health and financial services, sexism in family courts and social services), and known risk factors for male suicide (relationship breakdown, loss of access to children, severe financial hardship, drug and alcohol addiction).

Is it any wonder that the sexist pigs running our health system are making no progress in reducinng male suicide in our communities?

Maybe I'm just paranoid but I'm already starting to see a lot of content shaming men for not marrying or producing kids. This could escalate. I would never donate or freeze my sperm for this reason.

Well, states like Florida, Kentucky, and Missouri passed bills that make 50/50 shared parenting the default starting point in custody disputes. On paper, this is a massive win for fathers and should stop the ruthless custody battles that are rampant in America.

But I'm curious if this is really good news. Are family courts actually more just, or are lawyers and courts finding loopholes to stick to the old rules? Do you have any news about it, or are you going through some experience with these new laws

Similar to most of you, I am really concerned about the wellbeing of men. I work as a mental health professional and specialize in working with men.

I have a background in women’s gender and sexuality studies and american studies (basically specialized sociology) I’ve been thinking about going back for a doctorate but really only want to if I can do research on men’s social wellbeing. Wondering if anyone here has any leads on universities (US or international) that have scholars doing work like this already with programs that would be open to it? I have endured wayy to much mental stress and pain, so i have to let this thought out.

The society will transform and the rights men long for might actually be given to us but I'm not saying it is inevitable.

Throughout my life I've been scared of men and how they might hurt me, and I've been proven time and again that my fear is correct.

If I'm in a room with alot of men I'm genuinely scared of my safety as in a room of men, if all are good and one may touch inappropriately, or harass as in a joke, then better be cautious.

We are told to be competitive and win no matter what, so we take advantage of each other and pull each other down. I genuinely have received no emotional support or good words from men around me ever, unless i demanded it or when push came to shove and they had to do it.

When I try to be kind I'm considered weak, fool, and an idiot, men try to take advantage of that too, They take my kindness for granted and hurt me.

Sometimes We do great things yet our harshness reduces the value of the effort. I have personally experienced it. The moment I slip up, I'm faced with the absolute weight of the mistake I made of doing that.

When I tried to talk to women, they are very kind, although there is communication gap, but I have seen that women are more supportive and kind to other women and their problems somewhat, as I have also seen women who are absolutely ruthless however You don't fear the same with women. (The fear of false allegations is real I'm not denying that). So, Women are not all to blame, much of what they fear and complain about is correct in this regard. If I put myself in her shoes, i do understand her alot. And I'm saying this as a Man.

If someone works 12 hours a day and then acts like a jerk at home, I would not be happy with that person aswell.

This is true in friendship, and workplace. No one can endure this for long.

Male Judges are wayy harsher on men, no one bats an eye about what the victim man must feel.

Take from this what you will, but for me, if men are actively trying to put each other down, then they will definitely take whatever the disadvantaged man has to use and then dispose of him.

I wish my male friends, and colleagues were more kind to me.

i was a health care worker for more than a decade in various capacities, one of those including interaction with pregnant families. it was quite a while ago, this information may be more widely known now, but i had no idea. ill certainly be informing the men i know, 8-10% of new fathers is no small number. a cursory look at the ncbi study suggests the writing is accessible, i have not looked at the other references as im in bed and my eyes are heavy.....

fantastic, thank you so much! i had already forgotten. looking at that ncbi study abstract and first few paragraphs, what jumps out to me is poverty as one of the 3 primary risk factors for men, and a whopping 8-10% of fathers. wow! a quick check with duck AI says ppd in 10-20% of women, so the risk is notable for both parents. i had no idea, thank you for looking for references and reminding me :-)

A new Australian study, funded by the Office of National Intelligence, surveyed 1,122 young people aged 13-17 and 2,307 adults, to compare attitudes on women, gender equality, online influences and violent extremism.

Among boys aged 13-17 the study found:

• 31.8 per cent believed that attempts to give equal opportunities to women in Australia have gone too far
• 30.1 per cent believed men have more of a right to a job than women when jobs are scarce
• 24.7 per cent believed feminism is damaging to our society and should be resisted with violence if necessary.

“Engagement with ‘manosphere' content, pornography and online dating showed the strongest links to misogynistic views,” Dr Meger, said.

Also on several measures, teenage girls shared similar views to adult men surveyed. Gen Z women were twice as likely as Millennial women, and four times as likely as Gen X women, to agree that marriage entitles a husband to sex with his wife, even if she does not want to.
