REC Don’t Play REC If You Don’t Pass

Upvotes

There are four other people on the court. Using your teammates as some weird buffer just tells me you’re really bad at this. There’s literally 1v1, and even 2v2 if you want to play that way. It makes absolutely no sense to join a team game just to avoid actually playing against someone. You can go play directly against one person if that’s what you want.

I know I’m beating a dead horse, but I don’t know why you bother wasting money if this is how you play.

MyCAREER Some things to note about shooting build specialization

Post image
159 Upvotes

After completing 7/10 challenges in the specialization, I can share a couple things I’ve noticed.

- The bonus badges can be used for ANY badges, not just shooting or those specifically related to your desired specialization

- Instead of the 2 archetype names we got last year (Automatic and Green Light), there are 4 this time (Pull-Up Predator, From Deep, Deadeye Demon, and Verde)

Mycareer and Dion’s open runs on rookie mode are still the fastest way to get these challenges done

MyPLAYER I am about to save so many of you with this jumper

If you are a guard or forward with a 89 3 ball and can’t hit a shot, look not further

Base Devin booker
Both releases Larry bird
Make release exactly at set point and make visual queue set point as well, mess with the timing but I found one tick slower is really good

Release when ball is brought all the way back

Green window is massive went from 30% to 70% instantly. Was playing proving grounds and didn’t miss 20 open 3’s in a row

MyCAREER Message to PowerForwards

I play pretty much only rec and usually have a state line that has assist and rebounds well into Double digits. This is mostly from rebounds then outlet pass or offensive boards and open threes. I’ve just about had it with people building PF builds thinking they’re KD, while they’re 7 foot opposite is rim running and grabbing boards. Like you’re 2/17 please just hold l2 in front of your man so he stops boxing me out please. Guards and forwards literally expect you to out jump the other center while the pf is bussing it back on me and our PF is under their rim. Not to mention the guards and small forwards who sprint into the paint to steal your rebound every time because they can’t shoot or get any stats any other way. I find it hilarious as I’m literally feeding these players the only points they will get through fast breaks but they won’t even pass me the ball if I’m open under the basket. IF YOU WANT TO ONLY PLAY OFFENSE AND SHOOT SHIT SHOTS PLAY CAREER MODE.

MyNBA First impressions of 2K27 as a MyNBA / offline-only player (The good, the bad, and the broken)

Upvotes

I bought NBA 2K27, and as someone who mostly ignores online to play MyNBA (along with the story and occasional MyTeam), here are my thoughts so far. Usually I just make an OP 99 OVR player, tweak my sliders, and rebuild teams.

Dribbling feels way smoother compared to any other 2K I've played, and I've played every year since 2K18.

MyLegacy is a cool feature on paper, but not what I expected. The simulation in MyLegacy feels terrible, whereas standard MyNBA sim is actually great. In 2K26 you would lose so many games you clearly should have won. In this one, you only drop the occasional trap game to a worse team, so the standard sim logic is definitely an upgrade.

The gameplay is where things start breaking for me. I keep all timing on Real Player % so I don't time layups, dunks, free throws, or jumpers myself. It is practically impossible to make contested layups or dunks right now. Even with a 99 maxed-out finisher and boosted sliders, it bricks constantly when it should almost never miss. It's so bad that I've completely stopped attacking the paint and only shoot 3-pointers.

On top of that, Wear and Tear is still broken and feels like it hasn't worked right since 2K25 on old gen.

I have no idea how it plays online, but if layups and dunks are this bad there too, I'm guessing everyone is just chucking 3s all game. Anyone else running into this issue with Real Player %?

Gameplay If you’re doing defensive build specialization and want easy, unlimited blocks, The Shell in Street Kings is your best bet.

Go to Hallows Park and put your matchup to Mays. He’s a 5’10 slashing PG who does layups. When he’s bringing the ball up just play to the side and get a block when he goes paint. He also has a very slow jumper that’s easy to block.

This video is with a 6’7 SF with enough block for bronze High Flyer Denier.

Discussion Suggestion: Make assists give VC

Upvotes

This game is not fun when people ball hog and play selfishly. I quit this game many times out of rage when there’s a teammate who decides to chuck up horrible shots and forgets this is a team game.

To combat this, why not give additional VC for the number of assists in a game (up to a certain max). This would encourage the community to pass more and make more rewarding, fun gameplay

MyPLAYER Respect Your Center

Centers are the back bone of Rec and Pro-Am (Crews). So many people are trash at creating their own shot that they have to rely on the Center grabbing a defensive board and getting it to them on an outlet pass. Meanwhile, if it’s not a fast break, Centers are forced to sit in the corner and “wait” for the guards to “get busy”. Show some love to your Centers.

MyCAREER Hot Take: Fire and Concrete is Awesome.

Upvotes

Exclusively for dealing with a ball hog teammate. I struggled so hard getting my teammate grade up because he wouldn't pass to me so I kept having to call for the ball on the inbound and then played selfish as hell. It fit the storyline really well and once we started playing together getting the 3 stars became really easy.

Discussion Why is this community so toxic?

Upvotes

Genuine question, why is it that everybody I play with is so fast to blame and act like you sold the game, when they go 2-12 and play no defense? Is there anybody who plays to have fun and try to win? Or is it strictly act like we are in the NBA fighting for a finals trophy? I don’t play 2k to be some comp loser, I play to enjoy myself and have fun with people. But that doesn’t seem to be possible at all. If anyone plays and is decent at the game and actually enjoys having fun and being friendly, hmu!

Gameplay Not Enough Shading Animations On D

Look, if we're being honest, I know everyone hates locked or "canned" shading animations since it dictates where the offense is allowed to go, but if we're being completely honest, that's just realistic.

Nobody in real basketball just lets the ball handler get to wherever they wanna go. They dictate where you're allowed to go by creating cutoff angles, or shading you in one direction & forcing you to make a play.

In older games, if you took a bad angle & got locked into a shading animation, a good portion of the time you were either forced to switch dribbling hands, pass, shoot, or simply wait until the ball handler regained his balance, which was a good thing.

It created more of a chess match on D, that not only rewarded good basketball IQ, but in general, just looked much more physical. These days in these newer games? Animation cancelling can just bail you out of anything essentially.

MyCAREER PC is literally unplayable already and 2K27 hasn’t even officially released yet. FIX THIS.

Upvotes

I am so tired of logging on every single day just to get thrown into lobbies with shameless cheaters. The game is still in early access. EARLY ACCESS. How are people already running around with maxed-out impossible builds before the official launch day even gets here?!

Every year we get the same empty promises about PC support and anti-cheat, and every year the PC community gets completely shafted while paying the exact same money as console players. I’m playing daily and I swear more than half my games are ruined by somebody blatant-cheating without a care in the world because they know nothing is going to happen to them.

I’m done staying quiet about this. I’m going to keep posting, spamming, and calling this out until 2K actually addresses the anti-cheat on PC. It’s completely ruining what should be an exciting launch week.

Fix your game. Implement real anti-cheat. Stop ignoring PC.

Gameplay random rec PGs ruin the experience

Upvotes

lowest IQ of the entire 2K community, they load up try to left right cheese like it’s 2K26, they all have 71 pass accuracy or lower, can’t bring the ball up and get clamped 90 feet, play zero defense, only make a point guard because the ball is in their hands the most. when called out they immediately start selling the game lol.

Hof difficulty bucks player cpu shot is a yellow gets my shot but I felt I should got a contest on my shot but not a red. Bring back percentage at least. I play a lot crews and rec until this is fixed this will be my only build considering I made 20 last year might be doing me a favor

Figure it out 2k tf I’m all for a contest but size don’t make a difference anymore?

MyCAREER Trace Miller highlights a problem 2k has had for years

I don’t know what the consensus is with trace aside from the disappointment that the co-op doesn’t let you use your own myplayer, but as an offline player I’ve been hoping they added someone like him or a rival to progress with you. The problem only comes from the gameplay aspect. I know majority of the community likes the high scoring where you score 40 and the rest score 8 9 7 etc, and I get that, but I like letting the cpu score some too. The problem comes in when you notice that your teammates don’t operate like the other team’s cpu. I’m sure we’ve all gone against someone like Shai and Luka where they’re insanely hard to guard, but if you get them on your team, you struggle to let them be them. Either they don’t perform the same hard to guard moves or they simply miss open shots, but they’re nothing like themselves when they’re playing against you. Trace is no different, he has all the 90 attributes and badges, but he won’t iso, and if he does iso or get a screen it’s hard to get him to get an open shot unless you spoonfeed him, and even then he might miss. It’s something that I’ve struggled with since back in 2k14, and kinda takes the fun out of it when I have LeBron as a teammate and still have to score 50 while he scores 9 points just for us to barely beat a decent team. I want to feel like I can take the night off like some of prime lebron’s teammates probably felt like they could and watch his cpu cook

Tl;dr: it’s hard to get trace to score without spoon feeding him and kind of makes the experience feel moot when he’s just another dead weight player you have to carry

Gameplay 2K OG on The Current State of Shooting in 2K:

Upvotes

TL/DR: Shooting is more refined this year vs last year.

40-year-old 2K OG/Unc/Old Head here. Long time lurker, first time poster to the sub. First 2K was on Sega Dreamcast and I've owned every single title since that first release in 1999. I've literally played it all and seen it all since day one.

After a full week with the game, I've accumulated enough data points to chime in with an opinion and I'm curious to read other's opinions.

Overall, 2K26 was a struggle for me. The Green or Miss shooting was an adjustment. The shot stick and rhythm shooting was an adjustment, and it all just felt super clunky, RND-driven and unpredictable. I couldn't seem to ever get consistent with the shot stick and I stuck mainly with the shot button, which put me at a disadvantage and made the game less fun. When it was announced that dunking would be Green or Miss in 2K27, my outlook was bleak.

Now, 2K27 might be the most fluid 2K I've ever played. I'm greening the heck out of shots this year that were misses for me last year. This year, I've really dove 100% into the shot stick and the rhythm shooting. I'm using the shot stick 75% of the time now and using the button depending on the situation, but the shot stick finally feels "correct" to me. Almost like it's what the devs were going for last year, but never really perfected until now.

Wondering if anyone is feeling like it's harder or easier to green this year vs last year? Whatever your take, I'd love to hear it.
