Packed platform at Blair, bus like a sardine can. Saw 12 "out of service buses go by" and counted 8 white hat workers standing on the O-Train tracks just talking.
So yeah, the 1 extra bus (3 trips) going east for rush hour clearly shows they were not ready for the September rush.
Every bus that even grazes past my place of work has been removed. I now need to walk from Terry Fox into Stittsville.
Thank god I'm moderately able-bodied.
And my problem isn't walking per se - I already walk from home 20min to get to a stop. The problem is that the sidewalks near the office aren't maintained in the winter, so there is NO WAY for me to get to the office if there's snow.
Omg who else was on the 92 greenboro bus around 5pm? It stopped at Heron/ Alta vista and there was a rlly crazy guy trying to steer the driver off the road and trying to use his lighter to spray fire on the driver cause he drove past his stop. It was rlly scary and the driver was honestly just escalating the situation. He kept arguing and cursing at the guy and putting the lives of the people on the bus in danger cause he wouldnโt just stop the bus. I understand having to move due to traffic but he didnโt even stop at the next stop. The guy was trying to get off on heron/ bank and he was yelling at him to open the door while he was still parked and he didnโt open and just drove past the next 2 stops. And the guy was reaching for the wheel and it was SUPER scary. Even when the guy was finally off, he kept arguing with him and the door was wide open. This guy definitely had some mental health issues cause he kept saying โyouโre not treating me like a human beingโ but he was also acting very erratic so he may have been on drugs too Iโm not sure. Just super shaken up๐ญ
Found today (September 1) around 3pm on the sidewalk at Merivale and Burris by the A&W. Seems very well loved and my heart is breaking for whoever must be missing him.
Looked like it rolled off the bench by the bus stop for Bus #80 (toward Napean Woods) there.
Will be kept safe until Friday when I will drop him off to OC Transpo Lost & Found.
I donโt have Facebook or other social media so please feel free to share to other places.
I run into too many people at LRT stations on the daily who are seemingly ignorant to the "walk on the left side, stand on the right" rule. I'm a fast walker and I work long days. I want to get home as early as I can. Some people have buses to catch, appointments to make, jobs to get to on time! I wish we had some sort of simple signage displaying where to stand.
50% of the time it's just some dude carelessly taking up the whole width of the escalator though. In that case I give a firm and hopefully shame-inducing "EXCUSE me." Basically a non-issue in comparison to others discussed in this group, but it drives me nuts!
Wtf am I paying for when the LRT is delayed by 30+ minutes, on top of the hour it takes to commute downtown from Barrhaven, and I am rushing to get to a job that couldโve been done remotely. Why do we create these problems in the first place and bend over backwards to find solutions to our own bullshit? Why is no one doing anything about this? What is stopping us from not accepting this shitty reality?
Who the hell at OC Transpo comes up with this idea only to ruin it immediately through only offering one trip! Checked the new 563 this morning and it only comes once all morning..?
Just trying to find out what trains were down was horrible!! How do they not have better information on their websiteโฆno wonder people are frustrated with this crap system!! L
I was on bus 2220 yesterday, approx mid morning, and it smelled brand new. Like legit had a โnew car smellโ. I was with 3 friends and two out of the 3 also said it had a new car smell.
It was such a joy instead of filth and stank smell.
You know, itโs kind of frustrating when all signs and maps say that you are on the right route with all uptakes confirming it, but then you see that the bus is on the parallel street and nothing want you about it.
A lot of other organizations do it, why not OC Transpo? Could be a neat fundraising initiative. Lots of gorgeous drivers! I'd probably buy a copy hoping to find the cute one who always gives me day passes.
We could do a mixes men/women's one or two separate calendars by gender.
I'm just spitballing here, but has this been done before?
I made some more changes to otranspo.ca to make it a lot prettier and easier to use. We also have enough data now to have better scorecards for everything from routes, stations and wards too. These will also be continously improved, if there is data you want to see and we can get it I will be more then happy to add it.
For my origninal question, Is it the 222 has an average delay of 5.9 minutes and was late by 71 minutes in the last 30 days, or is it the 303 that only arrives within 5 minutes of its scheduled time 10.4% of the time or another route.
Im going to remove the CTC busses (406 + 404) coming from the CTC after an event as it is negatively skuing the data for those busses based on something they cannot control.
Also, if you access the site on desktop you can see daily, weekly and monthly snapshots. Here is todays so far.
As always I would love your thoughts/ideas on how this can be improved.
Iโm baffled for an explanation for this. I come from Toronto and the stop display in the middle of TTC buses faces backwards so that the people behind it are able to have a conveniently located visual of the next stop without having to strain their eyes to the front.
Iโve noticed the stop displays in the middle of some OC buses (I donโt often sit in the back to confirm if itโs all) faces forward. Why would that be? The people in front of it can easily look forward to see the sign in the front of the bus. The people in the back have to look at the one in the front - and depending on where youโre sitting in the back of the bus, the middle stop display blocks the view of the front one.
