Meta Get your /r/PartneredYoutube Verified Channel flair here!

Welcome to the r/PartneredYoutube voluntary channel verification.

If you would like to verify your channel and get flair like what I have on my account:

  1. Go to your YouTube channel's About section and edit the description to include your reddit username. For example I enter exactly: u/flammy
    1. Directions for how to edit your About section can be found here
  2. Post a link to your channel in one of the following formats as a top level comment in this thread.
    1. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXkf3kRpFeAx9mDCbfMS0MA
    2. https://www.youtube.com/user/flammy5
    3. If you use a different format (such as a custom URL with an @ in the URL) validation will fail.
  3. Wait, and our bot will process your request sometime in the next few days
    1. After the flair has been granted, you can remove your username from the About section and delete the comment if you're concerned about privacy. However, if you want your stats to continue to be updated, you should leave the u/ name in your About section.

FAQ:

What is flair, and how does flair work?

Flair is a reddit "signature" that appears every time you post in r/PartneredYouTube. Verification flair is not required to post, comment, or participate. A user lacking flair is not a valid reason to report them for breaking rule 2. You can remove flair at any time with Reddit's built in flair editing. The flair granted by the bot can't be edited. Verification is done via a bot, follow the directions above if you would like flair.

Why is the flair channels stats, and not partnered status?

Partnered Status is not supported by the official YouTube APIs at this time.

How long do I have to wait for verification?

Please wait 24-48 hours, and after checking you've followed all the directions you can send me a polite DM.

Is there a way to authenticate anonymously?

Will the bot update my stats?

If you leave the comment with the channel link and username in your description, your flair will be updated.

My stats are low!

The bot is only able to see your channel's public subscriber count and public total view count. If you have hidden videos, these views will not be reflected.

Can I verify with multiple channels?

Not at this time.

Is there a minimum channel size for verification?

No.

How can I remove my flair?

Yes, you can remove the flair via Reddit.

Hey guys,

The server is Locked to ONLY Monetized channels, Managers of Large channels 100k+ subs, and occasionally some guest experts.

If you join the server, you will need to attach your YouTube channel to your discord profile under discord settings, connections. You will then submit your channel link to the verification bot and within 24 to 48 hours we will try to vett your channel and grant you access to the server. So thanks to the recent view update, you basically can't compare your current performance to any time in the past (on mobile)... Because all the numbers are so hugely inflated now. 🙃

I Never Advertised My Video, But There's A Sudden Jump In "YouTube Advertising" Views??

Post image
Upvotes

This video is about 10 days old, and was holding a steady 10k real-time, yet out of nowhere it started getting an insane amount of views from "youtube advertising" yet I never personally advertised my video and im unaware of anybody running an ad of my video?? This has never happened to me, and searching it up I was met with a few different conclusions, either its a visual bug, or some random person somehow paid to advertise my video (which Im not sure why they'd do that)

So here's my questions, what do I do about this? Will it negatively or positively impact my video's longterm performance? And is there a way to see who advertised my video?

Thanks in advance

Question / Problem Just trying to figure out if I'm reading this correctly

Post image
9 Upvotes

I've never really been good at reading the analytics does that mean I went from 5000 views per day to like 7,000 views per day

If that's the case that would mean like 75% of the people who have been clicking on my videos leave right away

Now the old analytics normally tell me about 60 to 75% of my viewers are still there at the 30 mark, and most viewers stick around for between 30% and 60% of the video depending on the video of course we all know there's a lot of variables but am I reading this right

Does this mean I went from getting like 5,000 views a day to about 17,000 views per day?

YouTube algorithm questions answered

Upvotes

I took a bunch of the questions I see most often on Reddit about the YouTube algorithm and asked them to the person who runs that team at YouTube

Things like how the algorithm matches videos with viewers, whether it tests them first on subs, which metrics matter most, what’s being done to help new and small channels build a channel, how off-topic videos are treated, and more

You can find it on YouTube on the Creator Insider channel and if you have follow up questions, just let me know!

Not sure if this is a new thing or if I'm getting this just now. Pretty nifty so I can control which videos people can click when searching for my channel

How does it work and does anybody use it?

They say its great for small channels, as they are more trusted.

Do you make more money?

Talk / Discussion "Watch Time per Thumbnail Impression" is the ONLY metric that actually matters

I think the most useful metric for figuring out if a video is actually good is watch time per thumbnail impression.

How many seconds of watch time do you generate every time YouTube shows your thumbnail to someone?

It makes sense when you think about YouTube’s business model. They show people thumbnails, and they want those people to click and spend time watching videos.

So as creators, what we're really trying to do is convert thumbnail impressions into watch time.

And it's basically just: CTR × average view duration

I've been looking through my videos and the pattern is pretty obvious. Every single one of my best videos have around 15~20s watch time per impression:

5% CTR × 378s avg view duration = ~19s watched per impression

5.5% CTR × 394s = ~22s per impression

8.6% CTR × 197s = ~17s per impression

Meanwhile, my more normal videos tend to be around 10-13 seconds per impression. For example, one has 6.5% CTR and 201s average view duration, which works out to ~13 seconds per impression.

You can have an amazing CTR, but if people click and leave immediately, who cares? You did a great job getting the click but a bad job keeping the viewer.

And the opposite is true too. You can make a video with amazing retention, but if the thumbnail/title is bad and nobody clicks, it doesn't really matter how good the video is because barely anyone is getting into it in the first place.

Pretty much every other metric people obsess over feeds into the average view time per thumbnail impression.

Improve the first 30 seconds and reduce the initial bounce rate, your avg view duration goes up. Better editing? Avg view duration goes up. Better thumbnail? CTR goes up. Better title? CTR goes up. Better storytelling? Avg view duration goes up. Better lightning and camera/microphones? Avg view duration goes up. Posting videos about things people actually want to watch? CTR goes up.

In the end they all increase the amount of watch time you're generating from each impression YouTube gives you. Which, again, is how Youtube makes money: they show little images to the users, and want the users clicking on those images and spending time on the platform watching videos.

Talk / Discussion New Dual Layout Horizontal and Vertical Livestream Experience

A few months ago YouTube announced the dual layout streaming feature. Only recently I am seeing larger creators begin to use it. It appears in my shorts feed but when I go to the users channel it is a horizontal stream. Both get recommended.

I assume they are using Aitum or something similar to crop the vertical feed

My question is, in the past week has anyone tested this? How do results differ from a normal stream? If larger creators are doing it consistently I assume it is being accepted as better reach.

Question / Problem All views died overnight, not AI slop, been making shorts for 3 years.

Post image
36 Upvotes

What basically happened was all my shorts that was posted in the last 7 days just died while two old shorts that I posted 5 months ago that is slightly more relevant now got a small boost.

Like new shorts are killed while old shorts are given more potential,

Except the problem here is my channel thrives on its recent content. That's why most of my channel views died.

Has it happened to anyone before?

Question / Problem Is this sub actually useful or mostly just complaints?

Just joined recently, so genuine question: is this sub normally useful for partnered creators, or is it mostly 100 posts a day complaining about whatever YouTube changed that month?

Not trying to be a dick, just wondering if there’s actually good discussion/advice here once you get past all of that.

Question / Problem Does anyone else, for a couple months now, also have to constantly refresh YT studio on Firefox because some data or icons wont load unless you do?

This happens frequently, and it happens on both my devices. So I reckon its a Firefox Issue or YT issue?

Question / Problem Lighting Suggestions?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for good lights to use for my videos. For *reasons*, I can't film in my apartment, but I have a small rented office (5m^2) i use for getting work done in a quiet spot. it has 2 monitors, soundproof walls, but no windows and only overhead lights.

Any suggestions for effective lights to use in this space? Preferably small lights that can fit in my backpack. i use a dji pocket 4 osmo camera and shure mv7x mic.

Btw, my videos are mostly sitting down, talking head documentary-style investigations into tech (ai, surveillance, big tech). But maybe 80% of the videos is other footage on screen and not me.

Thanks!!

Talk / Discussion How do I know if my video is performing better because people like it, or if it's because of the new update in how YouTube counts viewers?

Do we have a way to figure this out yet?

My latest upload is doing very well, and is a big outlier. This is also my first video upload since the update on how Youtube counts views.

Finding it hard to determine if people like the video, and some of the changes i've made to my content...or if I just have thousands of bots watching now?

Do we have a way to decide? Not sure if I should be feeling good about this or not. If everyone's views are going up, no-one's views are going up.

Don’t fall for these “you could make $xxx dollars” contest like submissions.

Post image

I’ve been seeing a lot of YouTube offers to join a video submission contest for partnered YouTubers. I would not recommend doing these. I could be wrong, on some of the finer conditions, but these reads a lot like YouTube is trying to gather free labor for brands. As a sub 100k channel I regularly do $2000 and up brand deals and am guaranteed the money with a contract for the labor. Your results will vary but I want to warn others against making content for free. This is probably part of a larger strategy to cut the cost of advertising for brands and you are the one taking the cut. Rant over.

The new view counts system almost quadruples my views. I guess it is good for small channels like mine. Viewers tend to click on videos with more views.

Post image

The video is not performing very well, the AVD is horrible but the CTR is better and better maybe because of the new view counts system. Easier for viewers to click on a video with 5K views than one with 800 views.

I posted my first video since the new YT view rules and damn !

So as you will surely know on the 24th Aug, YT changed the ways views are counted to align with TikTok and Insta behaviour, so now even less then a second it counts as a view.

I was always interstested to know - will more views mean more revenue or will it not matter as despite more views everyone is in the same boat. Well I posted my first video since the change and as expected my views a much higher, I would say 3 times higher! but it also seems my overall revenue has jumped up too! Although I can't fully tell as its only been 12 hours the video has been up, so I will update shortly. Another point to note is there is no longer the grey trend area under the graph to gauge the videos performance, one of the most useful tools I used to find, however this may come back in time as we move on.

Question / Problem Neue Zählmethode, aber keine Steigerung der Aufrufe

It would be nice if YT can, under the hood, separate subs generated from short and long form

I love using short form to promote my long form videos, but that comes with the risk of gaining subs from the short form content that don't translate to views when they're chosen as a sample audience for the new long form video. I've noticed that as I stopped doing shorts, and only rely on longform content to grow, its been much more stable and the initial testing group is responding.

It would be nice if YT could recognize which subs were generated from longform content and choose those as the test audience first rather than the video bomb because it was split between a short form audience which isn't interested.
