The guy is complimenting the girl with the most cliché line and the girl asks how many girls he has said this to before so the guy accepts the accusation bcoz it's true and tells her to concentrate and play along bcoz this is her turn to hear it.

That's it.

I still don't understand the concentrate part

93

u/GhostRuckus 23h ago

She got distracted by wondering how many girls he used this line on, he wants her to concentrate on the flirting at hand and not worry about that

5

u/Not-So-Logitech 22h ago

This is my take as well.

4

u/Typecero001 21h ago

Although it is a good thing to worry about, if he’s got experience using this line a few times.

It suggests things about him.

7

u/a-new-3arth 20h ago

imagine if you switch the roles and ask women how many guys they have dated before, as it "suggests things about her"

u/BodaciousBadongadonk 19h ago

mIsOgYnYiSt!!1!

u/Elite_AI 11h ago

Mate, if it were a known phenomenon for girls to pretend to want a relationship only to actually just want sex, then that would be very valid. But that isn't what happens so nobody's worried about it.

1

u/a-new-3arth 8h ago

That phenomenon is equally common for girls and guys

1

u/Elite_AI 7h ago

Not sure about that one

1

u/a-new-3arth 7h ago

if you are not sure then why are you pretending to know for certain

1

u/Elite_AI 7h ago

Apologies if you were joking but "not sure about that one" means "I disagree with you"

1

u/Immatt55 21h ago

Probably quite conventionally attractive as it's worked in the past if they keep using it?

4

u/voxelpear 20h ago

Or he's just casting as wide a net as he can and doesn't care if 99 women say no, if he can get at least one.

1

u/feioo 20h ago

Aka she's trying to vet him a little, and he prefers that she doesn't

25

u/Random_Emolga 23h ago

He's saying pay attention to what I'm saying, not who might have heard it before.

7

u/NegativeEBITD 21h ago

This is the best summary I've seen so far. If she doesn't 'concentrate' the interaction is over anyway

239

u/horaciofdz 1d ago

Concentrate is a synonym of focus.

124

u/veilofmaya1234 23h ago

Ooo that makes me want a bowl of synonym toast crunch!

11

u/Kneef 22h ago

Just like grammar used to make

5

u/TheBubbleJesus 19h ago

Before she fell into a comma

11

u/KhabaLox 23h ago

I just want to watch Trading Places and drink some orange juice.

1

u/worrymon 18h ago

Have a side of bacon.

1

u/elheber 20h ago

Yet is he able to detect why children adore the flavor of Synonym Toast Crunch?

1

u/TrueGamer3kk 15h ago

Thats Syninom, but i do get the confusion

28

u/axl3ros3 23h ago edited 19h ago

Why need focus tho?

ETA: it's a reasonable question given I'm not the only one who has the question

Also I did understand, but was not sure I did, so asked to check my understanding was correct

39

u/bobman369_ 22h ago

As a way of saying “focus on the fact im saying it to you, anything past that is a distraction and not important right now”

Is he right by saying that? Who knows

4

u/MoreColorfulCarsPlz 21h ago

"concentrate one what I am saying, but ignore any subtext or context"

16

u/slowamigo 22h ago

Yeah I don't get that part either. Seems a bit passive aggressive. Maybe the meme is just dumb

9

u/KillThePuffins 20h ago

It's not passive aggressive he's just trying to be humorously cocky about it. Like he could have just as easily done something like post some gif of a hypnotizing pendant or something. "Concentrate" - like ok ok but don't worry about the past focus on this opportunity now

1

u/slowamigo 20h ago

I mean the text would've sounded a lot nicer without the suggestion to "concentrate" like how a schoolteacher would say. He even uses a period

2

u/KillThePuffins 20h ago

He wasn't going for nice

10

u/axl3ros3 21h ago

It is dumb

5

u/Jimanji333 21h ago

Focus on the two of them, not any other girls he may have a past with.

3

u/sokka2d 22h ago

Maybe if you tried to focus for a bit you’d get it.

5

u/axl3ros3 22h ago

I get it

I just wasn't sure I got it and wanted to double check

1

u/clslogic 21h ago

Concentrate.

2

u/ToastUrStrudels 22h ago

Because he could be an ass and ask her, "How many men have you asked to cum in you, pull your hair, called daddy, took birth control/plan B for, sent nudes, etc etc etc". Dating is a dance, and as you age you're well aware your partner has had other dance partners. So you just concentrate on the fact those partners didn't work out for whatever reason. The important thing, is figuring out if your new partner can match your rhythm, teach you a new jig, or will step all over your feet.

2

u/Quixotic_Seal 22h ago

Yikes, dude.

1

u/lettsten 11h ago

I think you misread that comment

💀💀💀

10

u/Mr--Joestar 23h ago

“Lets stay tocused now”

5

u/Away_Candidate_4746 22h ago

It’s a funny way of saying “stop asking about other girls.” I’m surprised so many people don’t understand this?

2

u/heorhe 23h ago

She changed the subject from them flirting to an accusation of him being sleazy.

He countered the accusation by admitting he has used this line before.

At this point the conversation is about him being a pig, so he says "it's your turn to hear it" to bring the conversation back to flirting, and then "concentrate" to advise her to focus on the flirting more than accusing him of things.

1

u/pokingoking 17h ago

How is it being a pig to admit he's told more than one woman that he finds them attractive? You think he should come up with a brand new way to phrase it every single time or what? "Concentrate" seems like a flirty joke to me. But I guess I'm used to talking with funny people and not slimeballs on dating apps so maybe I'm wrong, idk.

1

u/heorhe 17h ago

I'm not sure if pig is the correct descriptor but it got the flavour of what I was going for although I will admit the intensity of the verbiage is wrong

0

u/Typecero001 21h ago

“Don’t seek the truth, trust in my lies I’ve told to a few women now.”

9

u/mrdhood 23h ago

Man, gotta be honest, that’s the easiest part of this

8

u/Prudent-Metal7220 23h ago

It doesn't make any sense. Everything but that makes sense

7

u/Lopsided_Inspector62 22h ago

He says it as a bit of playful comedic relief.
If he had just left it on the previous text it may have come across rude or expectant. Far too cocky.

By saying concentrate he is leaving the door open for her to playfully flirt back. If she is not about it then she will likely shut it down. Either way she knows now that he is really just wanting the fun and not necessarily looking for a strong commitment.

3

u/PyJacker16 21h ago

Yeah I don't know why people on this thread are so riled up about it. Your analysis is right; adding "Concentrate." there dilutes the brashness of the earlier text, recenters the conversation, and keeps things light-hearted.

Can't say I see any indication of his level of commitment though. It's just good banter.

1

u/Elite_AI 10h ago

It's got to be like marmite or something. Your comment seems sincere and you've got good reasoning behind it, but I don't feel the same way about the "concentrate" part at all. I hate it so much. Makes it seem like he's scrabbling a little bc he knows he's made a bit of a faux pas so he's trying to project an image of calm dominance, even if he's not.

0

u/TomBelafonte 20h ago

Good banter? Y'all flirt weird lol

That comes across as cocky and condescending to me.

5

u/ElectricSliderz 22h ago

It seems like there’s a lot of chuds in here who all read the same playbook and understand this strategy, sad.

5

u/Fancy-Trousers 22h ago

Meanwhile I'm over here thinking the joke was that he meant to say "congratulations" instead of "concentrate." Anything beyond that seems like some real "I watched the Pick-up Artist on VH1 and it changed me" bullshit.

3

u/NegativeEBITD 21h ago

What's your 'strategy' when a girl's response to your compliment is describing you as an insincere slut?

1

u/Throwaway_Consoles 19h ago

The strategy of checks notes being honest?

She asked how many times he has used the line. He could have lied and said, "I just thought of it" or he could be honest. He chose honesty

2

u/bmil96 23h ago

I think he just wants her to leave the scepticism behind and focus on flirting

2

u/jubileevdebs 23h ago

He’s implying she’s getting off topic by wondering about how often he’s used the line rather than taking the compliment as part of him flirting with you.

1

u/CollectionSubject587 21h ago

It's time for her to lock in and play along with the banter so they can fuck

1

u/WingedCommander 21h ago

You aren't concentrated... take a lap, drink some water, sit down and look again, but this time with max concentration.

1

u/NoveltyPr0nAccount 19h ago

She's being distracted by thoughts of him talking to other girls. She needs to not be thinking about that and only be thinking about him saying that to her.

0

u/Retrac752 23h ago

He’s telling her to not get distracted by unimportant stuff and focus on the game in a slightly negging way, and playful negging usually works
