How do I style this in a way that makes me not look childish…

I love this shirt. But it’s not something I typically wear. I feel very self conscious when I wear it cause I tend to feel like it like infantilizes me and draws attention to my round face and what I’ve been told are library arms. I’m 4’11 and pear shaped so I usually wear like a flared or wide pant to balance me out (pictures for reference). How can I style this in a way that makes my high school nieces think the cool aunt?

I typically wear loose fitting clothing so tighter fitting jeans are outside of my comfort zone. Wanted to try something different, but I am unsure if these make my legs look short and sort of stumpy? Does the length look okay if I were to wear with sneakers? Please be brutally honest if they don’t look right. Thank you

Biweekly 😤 Petite Pet Peeves - September 01, 2026

Welcome to Petite Pet Peeves!

What's something about petite fashion that drives you absolutely nuts?

It can be something small, something you've encountered a million times, or just one of those things that makes you think WHY IS THIS SO HARD?!

Drop your petite fashion pet peeve below. No need for a long explanation - one sentence is enough!

Some examples:

  • “When ‘cropped’ means regular length on me.”
  • “Petite jeans that are somehow still too long.”
  • “Sleeves that are still too long on petite blazers.”

Body Type & Fashion Help

I think I’m finally realizing that it’s the clothes not my body. I know the clothes I like but when I put them on I feel like they’re not flattering at all. I think this is bc I’m not styling my body shape.

It’s weird bc I feel confident in just my undies but I hate bathing suits. I feel great in a gym fit but I hate a super tight outfit. Super loose outfits to me feel like I’m trying to hide my body or swimming in the clothing. Additionally I feel like my boobs will be the center of attention in clothes which I don‘t love. they’re also a pain bc I’m generally a size small but so many times they ruin an outfit or don’t fit in a small.

I‘d love to find out what my body type is or be given direction on where to go to find it. (I’m sorry if this is not the right place to ask, I tried Pinterest but that’s all AI slop).

my measurements for reference 24(F) 5’0 108lbs 34D

pictures of my most recent gym progress pictures and then pictures of me at events in outfits I really don’t like on me (but I love on others) and my ideal style as examples

Pants style

What style of pants are these and are they petite friendly? Extra credit if you know where I can find similar styles. I’m trying to get over my fear of wearing looser pants (I wear skinny jeans everyday and I’m so over it lol). Last pic is me. I have long legs, wide hips, short torso I think?

Also, sorry for the question- I know these type of questions get asked in here but I’m interested in this style.

Business casual

Hi, I’m 4’11” and weight about 100lbs. I’ve been having a hard time to find work clothes that fit my body. Clothes will usually be super long or fit super big on the top. I’m 22 and don’t want to dress older. I’ve tried in store shopping but nothing really fits. Does anyone know any brands or websites that could work? Thank you!

Similar style jeans for a 22/23 petite?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m having a hard time finding this style in my size and length 😭 I like that these are fitted around the upper thigh and then go straight down and flare a bit at the ends. Flare and bootcut jeans tend to flare around the knee but I don’t want the entire thigh to be fitted. I tried on levi’s loose boot and liked the fit but they run big and don’t have a 22 although i fit their other 23 jeans. Wondering if these reformation jeans would fit well but they’re kind of pricey. Please give me any suggestions though! A lot of other stores have baggy and wide leg but there’s too much space around the thigh for me /:

How to develop personal style after and during drastic weight loss?

Like many others, I’m on a GLP1. That means I have lost a ton of weight but still have a long way to go to my final goal. Now that that’s out of the way, I have no idea how to dress or style my body. I have had obesity my entire life and so I never dressed the way I wanted or in a way that looked stylish. I had to pick from what was available for my size. That meant that at 13, I was shopping with mom in Macys and wearing Charter Club instead of wearing juniors clothes. I’ve always dressed either really matronly and churchy or in stretchy athletic wear. Petite plus options are hard enough to find, and petite plus felt impossible.

Now that I’m in my mid 20s and on the cusp of straight sizing (I’m approximately a petite sz 16 who is working toward being a sz 2-4, so still a long way to go), I want to start developing a new wardrobe that is actually stylish, while also being mindful that my body is still changing so I don’t want to buy too much. How do I do I manage both? After a lifetime of Charter Club, which brands can I even try at my size? My inseam is no more than 30 inches.

I am pear shaped with a large bust. I’m interested in wearing heels to appear taller as well. Season wise, I think fall is probably my favorite fashion season.

5'2", short torso, and a millennial trying to leave skinny jeans behind 😬

I posted earlier and got some great feedback on #1 so adding all the ones I have! I am not sure on: rise, width and length (so basically everything 🤣). #3 I can hem!

Edit: THANK YOU for the all the feedback. I will keep #3 and return the rest

For those of you who are a size 8 at 5”2 — what pants and shorts are you really happy with?

(Apologies as I don’t see the option to add a post flair - did the subreddit change formats?)

I am a size 8 (~0.75 WTH ratio if that helps) and would love your recs as it is so hard to find good bottoms. I like capris, and need flexible stuff that I can wear to my 9-5 and outside of it, but I just don’t know where to shop with the over-abundance of options. Thank you!

Help with pants

Post image

I have been on the hunt for some linen pants. But everything is high-waisted and I have such a short torso that I feel like the tucked-in look makes me look like Urkel all the time.

Any suggestions for brands that have actual mid to low rise, or do I just accept that the tucked-in shirt look is not for me? I'm 5'2" but I think my legs are disproportionately long. I only have about an inch or two between the bottom of my rib cage and the top of my hip bone.

Does this look good together? 5'1ft

I'm not used to wearing anything other than black, this is way out of my comfort zone so I'm worried the skirt looks jarring or weird with an all black outfit

Activewear- Where do you buy capris?

I start rockclimbing soon and, was wondering where you buy cute capris from to use for any sort of activewear?

I find capris/low-rise yoga pants to be the best for any sort of exercise I do with my body type :) I just have no idea where to buy the activewear-version of them!

Would love some suggestions? 🩷

How are these two outfits? I am 5’3” and 100 lbs.

Ok how are these outfits? I have a mom and me class coming up and want to make other mom friends lol.
The first pair of pants I think fit good but the waist is so tight so is there a way to loosen it? Any advice on that? Are they too small? The second pair of pants seem pretty baggy but waist wise fit perfect.
Pants rolled up ok?

For the shirts… I am used to wearing baggy clothes so I’m not used to tight fitting shirts, on my last post people suggested me wear tighter fitting clothes, i love the shorts but I feel like my belly is too big. Ya. I know I’m thin but I’ve had 3 kids and honestly I have a belly. Like if you saw me necked you would understand. Do these shirts look like they fit?

Are the boots ok?

Petite Sweatpants and Joggers sets under 5’0?

Hello! Happy Friday. I wanted to get some ideas on where to shop to find cute sweatpants and joggers (matching sets a bonus with pullovers!) for very petite frames (I am 4’11). Shockingly Sam’s Clubs Travel Joggers are petite friendly. They fit me like a glove. I have them in black and green. But I’d like some cuter colors and matching sets. I like a more moody color palette like deep burgundy, dark greens, even leopard print. I’ve looked at Aerie but I’d like to try on in store to see my size as I’ve noticed AE seems to be wild in there sizing. And it appears they do not carry petite length in store? These days, I’m generally a small, sometimes xsmall and a 0-4 in jeans depending on style and brand. But with AE I feel like any form fitting tops I need a medium so I don’t know if Aerie is similar, though I see they run oversized for what I’m specifically looking for. What are some brands and lines you love for lounge wear that can be at home or cozy and put together out and about? I walk a lot and like feeling put together and cute. I can’t wait for fall. Can’t wait to see your recommendations!

Do these boots work?

Hey guys, bit of a dilemma, I love these boots, they fit well as I have wide feet and the heel isnt too high for day to day wear but the calf is wayy too wide.
I love the color and look they have and it looks great under some wide legged jeans, but I also want to use this with skirts and dresses and I feel like the gap might be toooo wide.

I tried to look up on Pinterest for some inspiration but I’m not sure it looks good esp given my calf isn’t too long so the boots end directly below my knee cap

Any suggestions for knee high boots with not too wide calf’s would be appreciated! I’m 5’3’’ with a long torso.
These boots are from Sam Edelman.

Apologies for the mess in advance, I’m in the middle of moving.
