Discussion Lyrics

Do you think Plex will ever enable embedded lyrics to be displayed like Jellyfin or are we forever restricted to lrc files ?

I have 50k+ songs in my library and don’t really feel the inclination to find them all again.

It’s really the only feature I miss when using Plex on Apple TV. I usually switch to Moonfin or Finer.

Help Is there a desktop music client with this view?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm trying to find a Plex music client for MacOS that offers something similar to the option in iTunes/Apple Music to view all tracks, clustered by album, with a single instance of the album art for each album. (Example included as a photo.) Ideally, it would let me select which columns get displayed, and let me select multiple tracks via a checkbox for adding them to playlists or marking them as favorites.

I've tried Chromatix, which seems to be the go-to for folks at the moment, but this doesn't seem possible with that one. Appreciate any leads!

EDIT TO ADD: Thought it went without saying that this isn't possible in PlexAmp, but just to cover all the bases, this isn't possible in PlexAmp, either. (Even the new version.)

Help First episode special not playing in right order

0 Upvotes

The FXX series Adults put out an alternative pilot that on Hulu is listed as the new episode 1 of season 1. TVDB has it listed as a special with its position as “Airs before season 1, episode 1” and is critical to the story. I set the shows metadata provider to TVDB (Aired) but when I select play on the show the S1E1 episode is played. Is this excoriated behavior? I have a feeling episode 1 specials may be bugged.

Discussion Feature: Ability to create Placeholder listings, for titles I have on Disc but do not want on Server/drive, with extra info

0 Upvotes

Added bonus is if the Placeholder listing had a text field where I could write where the Physical Copy is located and what type of Disc/Tape/Media it is.
That field would actually be useful for ALL listings, since I sometimes rip the BluRay, but I own: Extended disc, 4K disc, or other niche version.

I'm pretty sure I had a Plex Server Extension that did this long ago, but are those Plugins/Extensions gone now?
I feel like it would be very useful to be able to track the Watchlist, Watch History, and modern Plex would also tell me if there was another service I could stream it on. But I'd love a "Physical Home Library" option available, maybe among the external streamer options?

Has anyone attempted to finagle this type of Feature? Is there a way I could submit feedback to request such a thing? Thank you.

Help Show vanished mid episode

0 Upvotes

I was watching 2 Broke Girls, and mid episode it started to buffer which is totally normal with Plex on my xbox. The issue is when i got tired of waiting I figured I would reload the episode, so i hit back and the page loaded for a good few minutes.. then it showed 2 Broke Girls, but I could no longer watch any of the episodes, and it didn't say it was available to wach on Plex anymore. Pretty bummed out, just wanted to see if there was a reason?

Discussion Powerline Ethernet for Plex server - reliable alternative to Ethernet?

0 Upvotes

My partner works for an engineering company and is going to be working from home, so they're sending her a powerline Ethernet setup to help ensure a reliable connection. That got me thinking: since it will be connected to the same router, would powerline also be a good option for my Plex server?

Right now, my ASUS laptop sits near my TV and the Ethernet cable runs neatly behind the TV stand, so there isn't really a problem. I'm just wondering if powerline would let me move the laptop elsewhere in the same room without running a long Ethernet cable from the router.

The server runs 24/7 with two external 5 TB drives and about a 9 TB library. Most of my content is 1080p, followed by DVD-quality content, with relatively little 4K. My library isn't expected to grow much, so it's becoming more of an archival library. I mainly use Apple TV4k for local playback and Roku remotely on occasion. I have a port forward set up for remote streaming.

I originally used Wi-Fi but had buffering with some high-bitrate 1080p content. Switching to Ethernet solved that completely, so I'm not going back to Wi-Fi. For those using powerline with Plex, has it been reliable enough for 24/7 use? Any buffering or dropouts with high-bitrate 1080p, and what kind of real-world speeds are you getting?

I'm also thinking ahead to a future laptop replacement. My current ASUS has built-in Ethernet, but if a future laptop doesn't, I'd potentially use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter with powerline. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with that?

I know Linux, NAS, and mini-PC setups will probably be suggested, and I appreciate the advice, but I plan to stick with a Windows laptop environment ( I have my reasons) . I'm really just looking for a reliable way to keep a wired connection while having a little more flexibility to position the server in the room. If reliability is not there, im ok with sticking with the current set up.

Edit - Seems like that the early responses indicate Powerline would actually be slower than wifi. If thats the case, I will likely not change my hardwired set up as wifi proved problematic for me.

Help Plex stopped working

Upvotes

My plex server is no longer working on any of my tvs. I have an lg and a Samsung and they both say server unavailable. All my tvs are hardwired to my router. I’ve changed nothing in the configuration. I’ve tried resetting the TVs, deleting and reinstalling the app, rebooting the router, nothing has worked. Strange thing is I can stream to the plex app on my phone just fine. It’s actually faster on my phone than my tvs, no buffering or lagging. I don’t have a fancy setup. Just a windows 11 pc running plus locally off hard drives. I’ve tried setting a static up in my router and nothing. I went to the remote option under. Settings and it says private Ip unknown, public ip unknown, Keith red x’s next to all of them. I’m at my wits end here.

Help At My Wits End

0 Upvotes

Hey all,

I’ve been using plex for nearly a decade with no issue & able to stream over my WiFi network from my pc to living room tv but just recently (after switching internet providers I now can’t stream this way.

Both the app on tv and the site on my pc are logged on via the same network & yet it thinks I’m streaming remotely & wants me to pay for a remote pass, what?

Is there a workaround or is it just a case of I’ll have pay.

I don’t mind paying but it’s the principle of it, I’m on my network in the same house & yet now they want me to stump up cash, it’s just a money grab.

Help Audio sync off only on DVR content.

2 Upvotes

We have been noticing lately that anything we have recorded (DVR) is having issues with audio not syncing with video properly. We have been using the same setup for several years and have not changed anything other than the normal app/server updates. We also have Plezy installed, switch to that, and same thing.

TV is a Samsung QN65Q80R connected to a 3rd gen Firecube. Everything is wired, right next to each other, including the server. Oh, and the Plex server is running on Truenas Scale.

Suggestions on how to resolve?

Monthly Projects Megathread — September 2026

There has been an influx of people wanting to share their projects and we have recently decided to disallow such posts on the subreddit as the vast majority of it is vibe coded slop, however, we continue to be inundated with these requests, and some of these are somewhat legit, so here we are.

This thread is for people to share 'their' projects, apps, scripts or anything else Plex related.

You may only post your project here once per month, and you may only post one project.

Rules

  1. Declare AI use - if you used AI or AI assistance (ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) at any point during development, you must state this clearly, as per the template below. Failure to disclose will result in removal and a ban from the subreddit.
  2. Be detailed - vague "I made a thing, here's a link" posts will be removed. Tell us what it does, why you built it, how it works, and any relevant technical details.
  3. Include all relevant links - GitHub/source, documentation, releases, demo videos, screenshots, etc. If it's closed source, explain why.
  4. It must be Plex related - tools, scripts, apps, integrations, configs, hardware setups, anything directly tied to your Plex experience.

Tips for a Good Post

  • Describe the problem you were solving, not just what you built
  • Include screenshots, config snippets, or a short demo if possible
  • Share what worked, what didn't, and what you'd do differently
  • Mention the tech stack / language / dependencies
  • If it's a script or tool, show a sample of the output or usage

Example Post Format

``` Project: [Name] — [one-line description]
What it does: A few sentences describing what the project does and the problem it solves.
AI Disclosure: If you used AI, explain how you used it, and how much AI was used, where, what tools etc.
If you did not use AI, state this clearly.
Technical Overview: Brief technical overview - language, how it integrates with Plex, any dependencies, etc.
News Plexamp v4.50.4 Released
108 Upvotes
Plexamp v4.50.4
A quick follow-up to today’s release, mostly to fix a background that wasn’t behaving.
Desktop is 4.50.4; mobile testers get these as 4.50.3, so the build reaches you without another review round.
Fixed
  • Choosing the Smooth background no longer crashes the app, at the time and at every launch afterwards.
  • The Smooth background draws its gradient again instead of plain black.
  • Opening a Plex share link Plexamp can’t understand no longer crashes it.
  • macOS: the Intel download is actually an Intel build again. 4.50.3 shipped an Apple silicon binary under the Intel name, which Intel Macs refuse to open, and the links in the 4.50.3 thread now point here.
