For the last 40 years or so, yes. Republican gets elected, fs everything up. So a Democrat gets elected, fixes most of the damage. People start feeling confident again and decide they want more. Another Republican gets elected and fs everything up again. Happens every time.
Agreed. The pattern is consistent: Republican President decimates the economy while enriching the wealthy, Democrat Presidents work to undo the damage as best they can with Republican resistance to any policies they create.
Meanwhile, Republicans spend the entirety of the Democrat President's term blaming them for the problems they caused while also slowing their progress as much as possible. That way, they can use the "failures" of the Democrat President as a tool to bolster their own Republican President, who then repeats the process over and over again.
And Republican voters get amnesia, completely forgetting everything their President did once he's out of office.
The process requires Democrats to win regularly, or the country would collapse, and the Republicans wouldn't have anyone else to blame for it.
You are missing the part where each collapse is worse than the previous one, moving the country closer and closer to a point where it cant actually be put on the right path anymore.
I have a feeling we have already fell off that edge, and the only way forward is to rebuild from scratch. This administration has wiped their ass' with the constitution so much its utterly destroyed at this point. America has fallen and we are fighting for what comes next. Anything less is just more of a slow death spiral.
With the interest alone on the national debt having crossed the trillion dollar mark, you may very well be right. Its hard to see how government deficits could be reduced so much that the debt starts going down, even just stay at current levels.
TLDR: There is no way to fix this, Democratically speaking. The only thing that matters now is replacing the Capital Class, removing Capitalism in it's entirety, focusing on how to mitigate the damage from the worst parts of the coming Collapse, and how we will rebuild, globally, after.

And any new president will need to enact incredibly unpopular policies (like raising taxes) to fix the insane amount of debt that has been added by Trump.
Yep, and even worse the media is even more captured now than ever in history. The messaging will turbocharge against everything a Dem will try to do just to rebuild. SCOTUS will ensure they step in to prevent progress. Congress too will do nothing without a supermajority(and even then it may be tough). Itās going to be a slow repair job and we likely wonāt see the outcome in our lives as too many vote for our own destruction.

The US needs education reform and increased funding so future voters and decision-makers have a better ability to reason. National preschool-for-all should be our highest priority, as childrenās brains grow to 90% by age 5, and their cognitive development should be our greatest investment. Too many people have childishly unrealistic expectations of a President. They think that if they can just get their dream candidate elected, that person will fix every problem. The reality is that the President doesn't control that much, and the best you can hope for is that they will do a competent job, and keep the ship off the rocks.
