Discussion ProtonPass Set up
Hey so I have the VPN and the Proton pass llifepass subscription on one email address
I have this secured by a 6 phrase password as well as fido2 key and also MFA
On my Proton Pass I have also added Extra password that's 10 phrase long
Recovery is set and locked away in Kensington Ironkey
Is there anything more I'm missing before moving everything over from Bitwarden to Proton Pass

Account help Account reactivation and recovery of subscription time/credits
Hi everyone,
I recently had an issue with my Proton account and contacted Proton Support regarding the possibility of reactivating my account.
I submitted a support ticket on Sunday, explaining that I would like to reactivate my account and recover any remaining subscription time and available credits that were associated with my account before it was deactivated.
I understand that support may take some time to respond, especially for account recovery cases, but I wanted to ask the Proton Pass community:
- Has anyone gone through a similar account reactivation process?
- How long did Proton Support take to respond?
- Were you able to recover your remaining subscription time and credits?
I'm currently waiting for a response from Support and would appreciate hearing about other people's experiences.
Thanks!

Account help Is there any way to get Proton Pass as a standalone service?
Per the title — is it offered standalone in any way? I can only see prices as part of a bundle with e.g. Proton Mail

Discussion Is this really a strong password?
I am on a MacBook using the Proton Pass app. I made a post about this before but I feel like I was gaslit so hard by fans of company. On the Android app, this password is considered vulnerable. I agree with the Android version but in my last similar post, I was told that I was overreacting and eventually the Android app will lower their standards to match the MacBook/iOS version.
I understand this is a memorable password and not randomized characters. But even a 7 word randomized memorable password is said to be uncrackable by even government adversaries.
So, please shut me up for good and let me know if this is really a strong password. It seems extremely vulnerable to things like modern cracking software. From what I found online, it says at least 4 randomized words for a passphrase is the bare minimum. So "word.word.word.word". And that's also what the Android version of Proton Pass seems to follow.
There are people out there who will use that "strong" indicator when making passwords. Seems misleading is the password is actually extremely weak. I don't think it's something to just ignore, as I was told in a similar post.
Because while I saw this message to ignore, there are many other who won't see the message and will follow what the app says is a strong password, and many will likely set all their future passwords using what they believe is the shortest, yet strong password. Because why use 10 words, when you could use 2 words and be just as secure? Why use 100 words when you could use 10 words? If it all says strong then it wouldn't matter right? That's how some will see it.

Feature request Proton Need a Secrets Manager
I have been on Protonmail for 10 years, Visionary subscriber, and love the system. I would like to see Proton Pass get some of the latest features Bitwarden just dropped in their Secrets Manager to protect against AI injection. Hopefully it’s already in the works.
Bitwarden Secrets Manager is Bitwarden’s tool for storing and deploying infrastructure/developer secrets (API keys, database passwords, certificates) separately from its regular password manager — aimed at dev, DevOps, and security teams rather than individual credential storage.
Key points:
Purpose: manages highly sensitive credentials within privileged developer environments, with layered access and permissions so only authenticated machines and users can view or manipulate stored secrets
Security model: open source with code hosted on GitHub, audited regularly by third parties, and end-to-end encrypted — all encryption/decryption happens client-side, so no sensitive data reaches Bitwarden’s servers unencrypted
Use cases: injecting secrets at runtime into AI agents, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins), Kubernetes clusters via an operator, and dev environments — with full audit logging of every access event
Access model: uses “machine accounts” (access tokens) for non-human/automated access — distinct from bw (the personal vault CLI), this uses bws for the secrets-specific CLI

Discussion Still no way to have subdomain/path specific creds?
I'm trying to keep creds separate for a.abc.com and b.abc.com, but Proton Pass always shows all results for abc.com in any subdomain.
It looks like even 3 years ago the Proton team mentioned they were working on a featur*e to fix this, but it appears to be abandoned.
Has anyone found a way around this, as it looks like it won't be implemented? I love Proton but this is a massive pain for me as a software dev with tons of env creds.

Discussion Possibilità di cambiare l'email di accesso a Proton Pass in futuro?

Feature request Proton Pass bietet Autofill nicht an. Was nun?

Mobile Help Proton Pass on Android is not GOOD.
I don't know is it for me alone? But I recently changed to Proton Pass from Bitwarden in my android. Proton Pass almost never pops in my inline keyboard or popup in the field, it's a bit irritating. I tried every suggestion from previous Reddit posts, couldn't solve it, any suggestions guys? Or, I would have change to something else again.

Solved Tips: Bitwarden (Athenticator) to Proton Pass (Athenticator), FIXED
Step 1: Export JSON from BitWarden Vault Step 2: Import JSON in Proton Pass Step 3: Now export ZIP from Proton Pass Step 4: Import this zip file to Proton Authenticator
Lessons I learned: Bitwarden Authenticator exports blanks if the TOTPs are synced. Proton Pass and Proton Authenticator do not sync. Please fix this (if this is a real bug, let's talk Proton).
The reason why I am not mad at Bitwarden is because it never claimed that the export work on Proton. But Proton Authenticator proudly flexes that it works. This is the kind a BS at Proton REALLY grinds by gears.

Now I can finally sleep in peace.

Discussion Proton Alias "Used On" Field
I never paid much attention to this field when I create an alias. It originally contains a long random string. I did notice however that over time I have changed a few of the random strings to make meaningful notes to myself. Did changing this field hurt anything?

Extension Help Can't get the extension to show in iOS safari
I am evaluating proton pass to compare it to 1Password. The extension on my desktop browser works great. No problem. On iOS however I cannot get it to show up. It shows up under the browser autofill, so I can use it to insert passwords, but I can't get the extension to show for the purpose of generating email aliases. I can make an alias in the Pass app itself, but that's an annoying number of extra clicks. Launch the app, authenticate, "+", select "Alias", give it a name....
I just want the option to show directly at the email field of the page i am on.

Discussion Just shifted to Proton Pass from Bitwarden; not sure how long I will stay
After all the setting up, I learn Proton Pass cannot replace Apple Passwords like Bitwarden did on macOS. If you shifted from Bitwarden to Proton Pass, please share your experience.

Discussion Lifetime plan going to end anytime soon?
It began as a limited time year end deal in 2024, but it appears to have a permanent spot on the buying page now.
Should I move quickly or should I wait until later next year?

Discussion With outage comes no access?!
Look i get all services have outages. Im not shitting on the service.
But with this outage, it exposed a major flaw with the service. i can no longer gain access to protonpass. and with that i have no access to sites etc as i cant get to my super-duper passwords.
I was really enjoying the service (unlimited plan) until now. there has to be or should be away to decrypt locally. unless im missing something or doing something wrong.
This is really a major issue and may go back to 1password because of this

Linux Help Moving from 1password - passkeys and other questions
I have a proton family account, and am now equating moving from 1pasword to protonpass. But I'd like to keep some functionality:
Have similar password sharing functionality with family members - which I assume is doable with sharing a vault. Is anyone doing it? I know I need to have it fully tested before onboarding my SO and "children".
Manage ssh keys - seems there already, that is great, I'll be testing it soon.
Transfer of passkeys - is it even possible? That would be a big issue, because if not, I'll need to create them again for several sites. A normal export/import of 1password vault didn't seem to bring passkeys. I also am unable to create a new passkey here (using librewolf on Linux) and don't see anything passkey related on the linux desktop app.

Discussion Moved my Proton Pass billing to Google Play
Okay, so this is what happened.
4 months ago, I got a notification that my payment method, a prepaid payment card that I used for years, has bounced, and I got an overdue invoice that will screw my account and my aliases. My prepaid card no longer works for Proton's billing platform. It really frustrated me at that time, but I managed to do a temporary fix by linking my checking account.
But now, to be able to use my prepaid card, I have to switch the billing back to Google Play. It also has it's perks like localized (kind of) pricing so you get the accurate cost of the subscription instead of pulling up a currency converter every time your dumbass president made a terrible decision that will tank the value of your currency. Plus you get notified months ahead of time if there are price changes compared to yearly price adjustment jumpscares when getting billed directly on Proton.
Plus, my threat model is not really that severe to begin with. I am not in any group that requires robust privacy needs. I simply want to reduce the stuff others know about me, deter OSINT stalkers, and remove/not share detailed personal stuff that I do not want others to see online. So I can still have a little of Google stuff in my setup, without compromising a lot like my personal purchases, which goes to all my aliases, for example. If anything, this feels like a middle finger to Google since they know that I am using Proton services instead of their own password manager and email.
So yeah, until Proton, or their payment platform supports my prepaid card again, I will be keeping this setup. But please for the love of god, can you Proton peeps please support prepaid payment cards again?

Feature request Why doesn't proton pass have an encrypted offline backup like 1password?
Due to the current outage my entire online life is on pause. I can't fathom how you haven't prepared offline contingency. This is ridiculous.
If a typical proton service goes down, that service alone is affected. If proton pass goes down, it affects 3rd party websites. We can't work, play or entertain ourselves. Can't login to your router, can't access your bitcoin, etc, etc. The internet literally stops existing.
All you needed is to store an encrypted backup locally.

Web help how to get autofill back after making changes to account?
I made some changes to my account (password, email address) on a website and since doing that proton pass no longer gives me an autofill option for that website, though it did before. I tried adding an additional URL for the site, corresponding to the URL where I'm being asked to login but PP still doesn't offer me an autofill option. What do I need to do to get autofill working again on a website from which it has become disconnected?

Mobile Help Deleted attachments remain visible on Android after re-uploading modified files with the same names
I’ve noticed a possible attachment-sync issue in Proton Pass.
When I create a new entry in the desktop app and add attachments, they sync to the Android app normally. However, if I then delete those attachments on desktop and upload modified versions using the exact same filenames, Android displays both the old and new attachments.
On desktop, only the newly uploaded attachments appear. On Android, the deleted versions remain alongside the new ones. The only way to distinguish them is by comparing file size and date.
I have manually synced both the desktop and Android apps, but this does not resolve the issue.
This may be related to deleting and re-uploading attachments with identical filenames in a short period of time. It could potentially be a caching or attachment-identification issue. Renaming the files before uploading appears to avoid the problem.
I am not filing a formal bug report because the affected entries contain private information, but I hope this provides enough detail for the Proton Pass team to investigate.
