That horror book that gave you chills and nightmares and you couldn't stop thinking about it for a while

Hi, this year a group of my mates decided to start a book club as a bit of a laugh. We are all in our 30’s and straight but next month is my pick and I think it would be hilarious to pick a romance/spicy novel. Most of us enjoy reading fantasy so we could flirt with the idea of a romantasy but I really don’t want a book that is very much just describing the blokes if you know what I mean.

If this is too much to ask I’m also open to the idea of just a really weird spicey one, thanks in advance 🫡

My (F25) girlfriend (F24) was adopted from China between the ages of 1 and 2. I’d love to read a book from the pov of a Chinese adoptee in America, either fictional or nonfiction to help me understand her perspective.

This is the dedication page of my first book. I need honest feedback.

My Nana Ji was a very strict and disciplined man. When we were kids, we used to call him Hitler behind his back because he was so strict about everything - waking up on time, studies, values.

At that time I didn't understand him. I thought he was too hard on us.

Last year my 4 year old autistic son Evan went missing for 180 minutes. I found him safe in a small Hanuman Ji temple. After I became a father, I realized I have become exactly like my Nana Ji - strict, disciplined, trying to plant the right seeds.

So I wrote this dedication.

"who once read the lines of my hand and told me where I would go. The seeds you planted are still growing. I am planting my seeds in my son, Evan"

Is it clear?

Will people understand that "seeds" means discipline and values?

Or does it sound like I am disrespecting him by calling him strict?

Please tell me honestly.

English is not my first language and this is very personal. Final printing is next week.

I need a a book that’s going to stick with me for a long time. A book that I can read for hours and never get bored. I like thriller, horror, sci fi, and fantasy. Does anyone have books recommendations for books that will stay on my mind for a while? Some books I liked: The Silent Patient, Verity, Project Hail Mary, Misery by Stephen King, and Dark Matter

Ever since I started my new job in january, reading for pleasure has been a struggle. I used to average 20-25 books / year, so I was never a crazy worm, but this year has been slow af for me. The problem is my job is intellectual and requires me to read and think a lot so reading in my breaks becomes really tiring if the book is dense.

So, I want books that are fast-paced, with light prose, easy to read and exciting! Books that can be easily read in 10-15 minute spurts. I read everything, from fantasy to mystery. If you do recommend fantasy I just ask that its not epic fantasy a la GoT because that's a lot of brain power to keep up with. I also enjoy classics, but most classics have heavier prose that my brain refuses to read after a day's work.

I specifically want to read only one of them, though, because from what I’ve heard, they have some pretty similar vibes/plot elements, and I don’t want to read both back-to-back and feel like I’m reading the same story twice

Hi! I feel like I'm only seeing the popular books as recommendations and I'd love some romance books that aren't just remakes of stories already published. Spice is okay but I'd prefer it to not be overly spicy, 4/5 at most. I love pretty much every genre, romantasy and horror/thriller are probably my favourites! Recommend me a romance book you love :)

Sorry for the vagueness of the title but I didn't know what to put while asking for two different things.

1) my partner has been talking a lot about wanting to read a book that has time travel on it, and I think he's more drawn of books that travel to the future. I have not read a single one like that so I don't know what I could get him.

2) Maybe a bit of an odd request, but in the hunger games I really like that the main character hunts and collects things and then you trades for other items and manages to survive like that. I don't know if I'm explaining myself correctly but I hope you catch my vibe.
