Photo YOUR HOUSE - NY strip steak, potatos, shallots oyster mushrooms, garlic herb butter, cheeses. Latte.
Wsup fam,
Ima lazy private chef, I start with a whole nights sleep and a shower.
Let me travel across town to you then snooze on your human dog bed, maybe a load of laundry and some wifi.
I am couch surfing in San Jose and made breakfast for my host dude. Getting ready for the Ai techworld conference in Santa Clara.
These are actually the potatoes from yesterday’s breakfast burritos, with fancy garlic herb butter, oyster mushrooms, shallots, and a couple of cheeses. I used the shallots to clean up the steel pan.
the other pics are previous days
If can cook anything for you, what would it be?

Recommendation Request Where to find Portokalopita 🍊 in SF?
Tried looking on Google Maps and Google search feed loosely and seems like one spot (The Argentum Project) that did highlight having it is no longer around 😔
Open to other spots not in SF if it’s there, but wanted to see if I could get it closer to me.

Visiting SF Tipping
I’m visiting and wondering what’s the appropriate tip percentage to leave at a restaurant. Is it before or after taxes? Also what if the restaurant adds 15-20% “Equitable wages” and 5% to “offset SF ordinances cost" do I still have to tip on top of that? I am genuinely asking so I don’t offend the wait staff. Thank you.

Recommendation Request Dinner Experience Ideas
I need dinner ideas for my best friends bachelor party in SF. There will be 9 people, looking to spend no more than $100/person. Groom and groom will be there. I want them to have an experience they’ll never forget. Date is 10/10/2026. He really wanted dinner in the dark, but I can’t find it offered. Other suggestions? He loves all things spooky. Thank you in advance 🫶🏻
Edit: $150/person.

Discussion Neighborhood spotlight: the Mission
One neighborhood at a time. Where do you eat in the Mission, and what do you order there? Cheap and expensive both welcome. If a place has slipped, say that too.
Answers here get pulled into the sub's wiki.

Discussion I noticed this mysterious hanging rod near my table at Greens. I asked about it on r/whatisit and got a good guess, but I realized that someone in this group would probably have a definitive answer.

Recommendation Request Hello! I have a few hours during a work trip in a couple of weeks to try some food and explore what I can! Recommendations on what to visit for a great casual spot to eat at? Non seafood please! (first time in SF so I have no idea what area of the city)
I’ll be in the area for a work trip in a couple weeks. On the last day I’ll have a few hours to see a couple things in the city and get some food. This will be my first time in the city. What are good food places (casual) and not seafood. Also what are some things that I’d have actual time for in about a 4-5 hour span lol. Thanks!

Recommendation Request Spots worth going to for groups of 5 plus
Hi everyone,
I have family flying in to visit, and we usually all go out together (I’m talking about 10 people all together at times)
I am at a stump on where to even go with that amount of people.
Everyone is open to trying anything, I also keep considering that with that amount of people the staff might be overwhelmed and the food might not be too well. (I think I’m over thinking this)
Any recommendations? (there will also be 2 babies under 1 year)

sf foodies, what were your most memorable meals when traveling?
i’m sorry in advanced for hijacking this space specifically for sf food recs, but i thought it would be fun to crowdsource some thoughts from folks who understand the quality bar (and range) that we have right in our backyard.
by no means do i think SF is the center of the culinary world, but the diversity is really top tier, and many of us know first hand that influencer vibes or aesthetic decor don’t equal good food or service. BUT, at the same time, sometimes the long line and hype is actually worth it.
so for those who can appreciate the take-out dim sum to the michelin starred meal to the burrito in the park, what meal in what city do you still think about?
(and do you have recs for madrid? 😆)

Best AYCE sushi in the city?
I know it’s limited and there are great ala carte and omakase spots but sometimes I just want to be rid of the stress of having to strategize the best order:cost ratio.

(Supplementary) Date Night Ideas!
Hey everyone!
As the title says, I’m searching for some date night ideas to supplement my GF and I’s anniversary dinner at Gary Danko.
Since it’ll be a later dinner (8PM), I’m mainly looking for places that serve smaller dishes (tapas, oysters, etc) and great cocktails. Doesn’t have to be too pretentious but also not too ‘dive-y’. Also doesn’t have to be near Gary Danko either.
(Not the biggest fan of Cavana)
Thanks in advance!

The Laundromat or Lovely’s
Need help deciding where to go! (I’ve had the laundromat already but wonder if I should try Lovely’s since I have limited time in sf)
