Sad to share that there has been more sabotage of Sunset Dunes.

First they vandalized the community murals.

Then they destroyed the community pianos.

Then they hacked down the community hammocks.

Now they try to target businesses in the community by removing the advertising signpost at Noriega (photos showing before and after it was taken).

They even removed safety signage (look below Noriega street sign) in an obvious attempt to increase danger and undermine the park.

Vote No on G. These types must be stopped.

The 'Corporate Goddess' Sculptures of the Financial District

Twelve ghostly figures watch overĀ SF from a rooftop perch 23 stories up. Artist Muriel Castanis, known specifically for her eerie draped figures, created the 12-foot high sculptures for the Philip Johnson-designed building in 1982, looking out from the four sided rooftop, three to a side. Since they were revealed they have been interpreted as everything from grim reapers to angels, but the artist described them as "corporate goddesses."

Crime Urban Alchemy is decreasing crime in San Francisco, Stanford study finds

Thumbnail

In total, Urban Alchemy’s presence prevented around 900 low-level crimes each year, according to the study. Stuart’s research estimates that those crimes would have had a negative financial impact of up to $7.7 million annually. That is less than half of Urban Alchemy’s $20 million-plus operating budget, but supporters argue that the organization’s model decreases recidivism by providing employment to formerly incarcerated individuals who might otherwise have trouble finding work.

Aggressive dog walker in Ashbury Heights/Cole Valley

• Upvotes

Not sure where to post this as I’m not on Next Door or FB, but am posting this in attempt to try to warn the owner(s).

I just witnessed a dog walker who had 8 dogs with him act very disturbingly towards one of the dogs (tall black lab with a red Gentle Leader harness). If you don’t know what a Gentle Leader harness is it’s the one that wraps around the dogs snout and neck to prevent them from pulling. The dog walker was growling/groaning at the dog and visibly agitated because the dog tried to sniff something in a bush. He then proceeded to punish the dog by pulling up vertically on the leash that is attached to the dogs snout/neck so much so that the dogs front legs were lifted and it was basically dangling by its face. The man was a middle aged white man of medium stature with a baseball cap. This was at the corner of Frederick and Ashbury btw. I was too afraid to say anything as I’m a small woman and the man seemed to be in a very bad mood.

ETA: this was at around 1:50 pm.

Nori Mori Japanese Restaurant Coming to One California

Fast-casual Japanese restaurant, Nori Mori, is coming to a previously vacant storefront at One California. The city is helping with a grant. Looks like Japanese food for office workers--hand rolls, wraps, bowls, etc. Was supposed to open in late Summer 2026 but when I stopped by it was still just posters in the window. https://bayareatelegraph.com/2026/09/01/a-quick-and-casual-new-japanese-restaurant-is-coming-to-a-very-prominent-spot-in-san-francisco/

Just general trash. I did also call to both report (approximately 10 needles on Post & Scott) & complain about the reporting options on the app. Pls alert your supervisors! Maybe the needles option is hidden on the app but I could not find it nor could the operator. Thx neighbors!

Lowell coaches fired, games forfeited

The article doesn't say what actually happened, but the story is that a Lowell varsity player made monkey noises at a Black player on Lincoln JV.

The article also doesn't mention it, but I heard from a Lowell player that they vacated their 2026 city championship.

Birds with the Salesforce Tower in the Background

Five years ago, I mega-commuted to San Francisco from Santa Rosa, 90 minutes in, 2 hours back every day except Wednesday. Getting out of Santa Rosa and through the ever-under-construction Novato Narrows was a bear during commute hours, so I left at 5:15 a.m. and stopped for 45 to 60 minutes once I got in or near the City to go birdwatching. That way I could reliably get to the office on Townsend in SOMA reliably by 8:30 without having to deal with traffic. I started taking pictures of birds with the Salesforce Tower in the background, sometimes on purpose, sometimes unintentionally. I had an idea that maybe I could make my fortune by selling a calendar to Benioff for the employees! Anyway, nothing ever came of it, I retired, and now I have all these photos, so I thought I'd share them here.
