looking for sf sublet starting now until january 2027 (open to longer/shorter)

Hi! I’m looking for a room/sublet in San Francisco starting ASAP, ideally through January 2027, but also open to something shorter-term or longer-term if it’s a good fit.

I’m 23 and a Stanford masters student currently living in SF. I’m clean, responsible, respectful of shared spaces. I will be commuting to school most days so won't be home super often.

Ideally looking for:

  • Somewhere in SF or the east bay with reasonable access to public transit
  • Around $900–$1,250/month, though I have some flexibility depending on the place
  • Furnished or unfurnished is fine

If you have a room available, know someone looking for a subletter, or have any leads, please DM me!

Anyone in SF want ~2 hrs/day of private-chef meal prep in exchange for a spare room? Starting Sept 4

Hey SF,

I had surprisingly good luck making a similar post in r/SanJose for a couch surf deal while I am at a conference in San Jose area, so I thought I’d try this in the city for starting Friday.

I don’t have alot of resources, and I’m looking for a spare room, guest room, couch, ADU, or similar starting Friday, September 4. I’m flexible on how long I stay. I am starting to see myself going back and forth to San Jose quite a bit for a week in each city. So if we can start with a 1 week situation, and go from there.

What I’d like to trade is about 2 hours a day of useful household work, with the emphasis on food.

I have a substantial cooking background and can handle pretty much whatever you and your household actually like eating — not just “meal-prep chicken and rice.” I’m comfortable with BBQ, smoked meats, steaks, seafood, Asian food, comfort food, healthier meals (or not lol), breakfast, baking, dinner parties, family-style meals, etc. I attached some of my cooking portfolio.

A typical arrangement could be:
• plan meals around what you like
• grocery shop / ingredient runs
• prep several meals ahead
• cook dinner or breakfast
• portion leftovers / lunches
• completely clean and reset the kitchen afterward

If there isn’t two hours of kitchen work that day, I’m also useful with handyman work, small repairs, organizing, garage projects, yard work, cleaning, assembling things, computer/tech help, etc.

Ideally you cover the groceries/ingredients and I provide the labor. We can figure out a routine that actually saves you time instead of creating more work.

During the day I’ll mostly be out working from my laptop and attending tech events/meetups. I’m coming back to SF because I’m working on my startup, so being reasonably connected to transit would be helpful.

I’m clean, pretty easygoing, and don’t need to be entertained. Happy to hang out with the household or disappear and do my own thing. I have a gym membership and can minimize my footprint.

I also have references. My previous r/SanJose post has people I’ve actually worked for publicly vouching for me.
If this sounds useful, especially if you’re somebody who keeps saying “I wish someone would just deal with dinner”send me a DM and tell me roughly where you are and what kind of food you like. You can also text me 707-267-1768

I am looking for a tenant for a 2 bed 2 bath unit I recently moved out of. I ended my lease early I am on a tight schedule to find a tenant. Before incentives it is going for 4078 on a 12 month lease.

Room 4 rent

I (33 y/o, female) and Toki (4 y/o spayed kitty) are leaving Portland, Oregon and am looking for short or long term rental/ room for rent. Ideally near Lake Merritt or Berkeley but I’m flexible though, since it’s mostly to just get relocated sooner than not!

My lease just ended in Portland, so I’m very flexible.

Please DM me with any listings or offerings. We are very kind, clean, motivated, etc.

Furnished studio near Ohlone college

Hi everyone, I have a furnished studio available in Fremont near Ohlone College and Mission Blvd. It’s available now for **$1,500/month**, with no deposit required.

The studio includes a queen bed, large mirrored closets, hardwood floors, recessed lighting, heating, and a private full bathroom with a walk-in shower. There’s also enough space for a desk/work-from-home setup.

Rent includes an in-unit washer/dryer and one uncovered parking space. The rental is month-to-month, so it could work for either a shorter stay or someone looking to stay longer.
The location is convenient to I-680, Ohlone College, Mission Peak, and nearby shopping.
If interested, send me a DM and I can share photos, the exact location, and arrange a time to see it.

FIRST OFF - SEVERAL PEOPLE THINK THIS IS A SCAM - IT IS NOT!
I LIVE IN A RENT CONTROLLED UNIT FOR YEARS; THUS THE AFFORDABLE PRICE.
Also I am seeking someone long-term; not short term!

I have a room opening up; details below:
This is a NORTH BEACH location!! Single occupancy only; rent controlled;  month-to-month private and furnished room in a 3-bedroom flat with access to a full kitchen, furnished living room and seasonal outdoor space. Laundry on-site. Safe neighborhood; like a village - police department and, fire department within 1 block; park, cafes, restaurants, indoor swimming pool, rec center; tennis courts, library, post office and more all nearby within 1-4 blocks. You can walk to FiDI or Union Square or even to the Aquatic Park and the Embarcadero (excellent for walks!) And unlike other SF neighborhoods, we rarely get the fog! Available as of September 28th; though I might be able to accommodate a temporary stay in a guest room--which has a very comfortable couch, if you need to move before Sept/ 28th. Bring only yourself and your clothes!! The home is well-furnished. It's not a sleek modern place, however it is comfortable and nicely appointed. Looking for someone who can appreciate and care for the home; respectful of roommates and wants a place that is safe, quiet, low-traffic, and drama-free. This is a NON-smoking; non vaping environment; low-alcohol consumption; and drug-free zone. If needed, street parking or monthly parking at parking garages are in the vicinity at your expense. Current occupants includes a culturally mixed household with one roommate being a young man and another roommate being a mature woman. Politically progressive. Standard deposits required.  (View is from our kitchen and living room windows.)

Looking for place in/near sf.

Evening, guys! Currently looking for a room/share near sf. Here's a little about me:

  1. 29m, asian. Identify as straight (hetero-) secularist but open to cohabitating with people of different backgrounds (i.e. beliefs, sexuality, etc).
  2. Current job - work for google subdivision in sf. Here's my schedule:

Wed-Fri - 2pm-10:30pm

Sat-Sun - 10pm-6:30am

As these hours are unconventional I'd need a place to live which is quiet/safe during the day time so I can sleep/rest peacefully. In return I can accommodate for the schedule(s) of other tenants.

  1. Budget - my range is $750-$1250. Ideally, if we can be just around $1000 that would be most ideal.

  2. I'm a clean, quiet, easy going person in general. My hobbies are working out, playing video games and going on hikes. I love coffee, rarely drink/don't smoke and enjoy making new friends.

If you have any questions feel free to dm me.

Offering $1k incentive for 2 bedroom / 2 bath Mountain View rental now through early Jan. (lease takeover)

Available now through 1/7/2027 (flexible if you only need it until late December). Pet friendly! Walk to Google and Microsoft offices in Mountain View!

Spacious 2 bed/ 2 bathroom floor plan boasts ~1,234 s.f. (larger than most) in a rarely available corner location on a high floor (4th floor). The apartment enjoys lots of light, faces south/west, and has beautiful views of sunset skies. A balcony off the living area also faces south/west.

$1k incentive!!! We love it here but our family has expanded and we need a bigger place! Building management allows lease takeovers subject to their approval of your rental application, including income that is 3x rent. Current base rent is $5,536 monthly. The lease currently ends on January 7, 2027. Then you will have the option to sign a new lease if desired. We are motivated to arrange a lease takeover and are willing to pay you a $1k incentive after you are successfully approved by building management, are replaced by us on the lease, and move in.

This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a short term rental or sublet type situation with the option to extend on a new lease. If you’re relocating to this area, it gives you time to decide if you like it here or want to find a different place.

Pets OK including cats or large dogs, subject to management company policies and a reasonable pet deposit plus monthly pet rent.

Primary bedroom includes a generously sized walk-in closet with built-in shelving. The en suite bathroom features a spacious, walk-in glass door shower.

The second bedroom has privacy on the other side of the apartment’s common area and also features a walk-in closet with built-in shelving. The second bathroom is in the hallway, next to the second bedroom, and has a tub/shower combo.

The kitchen is up to date with a built-in microwave, electric range, garbage disposal, and dishwasher. The refrigerator includes a front water and ice dispenser. Central kitchen island offers abundant space for food preparation and dining. Or set up a separate dining table in the adjacent dining room space.

Wood laminate flooring, central air conditioning, and high ceilings throughout. Large capacity stacked washer and dryer in a closet near the front door. Large storage closet plus a separate coat closet in the hallways.

Newer apartment building (~2 years new) with amazing amenities including swimming pool, hot tub / jacuzzi spa, 24/7 gym, elevators, central a/c, elevators, secure garage parking, EV chargers, secure bicycle storage, plus on-site personal storage rooms for an additional fee. Tesla Supercharger one block away. Enjoy sunny or shady lounge chairs poolside plus adjacent BBQ pavilion with bar seating and large TV; indoor rec room off the pool with full kitchen, billiards, other games, big screen TV, and sofas; a top-floor sky lounge with the same plus a sunny balcony that’s also great for enjoying sunsets; two co-working areas with desks and private breakout/solo private work rooms; an outdoor putting green; and a self-service pet spa room with elevated dog washing and drying stations (complete with power hair dryers).

This location is a rare find on the BAY side of the 101 in Mountain View near beautiful Stevens Creek trail & bayshore car-free paths for walking, jogging, and cycling! Five-minute drive or easy bike ride to Shoreline Lake for sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, wing foiling, stand-up paddleboarding, or picnicking. Or walk to a concert at Shoreline Amphitheater! Lots of shops, restaurants, and recreational activities are within easy reach here in eastern Mountain View! The nearby Castro Street pedestrian area offers a lovely area for strolling, shopping, and dining outdoors or indoors.

DM me for more information.

Renter protection for working (not service) dogs?

Apologies in advance if this isn’t the best subreddit. I can’t seem to find any info online.

A friend works with a bomb-sniffing dog. He’s employed by a private company that receives government contracts in places like airports, sports arenas, large music venues, etc. The dog lives with him and remains in a (spacious) kennel when they’re not working.

The dog was rigorously trained and is impeccably behaved, and comes from the same academy that produces military and law enforcement canines.

My question: is there a way he can get an exception in a building that doesn’t allow dogs? While his dog isn’t classified as a “service” animal, he’s definitely a working dog.

My friend wants to do things the legal way and wants to avoid some bogus “emotional support” loophole, but finding dog-friendly housing in San Francisco is near impossible.

Should I Move to SF?

Offered a job in SF to start in March-April 2027. I’m just concerned about the rental market. Is this realistic to find?

- studio or 1b with NO roommates
- Designated parking spot (must)
- preferable in unit washer dryer but minimum in the complex.

Max budget 4.3k

Areas: Inner/outer sunset, presidio, Richmond, Sutro, pacific heights, marina district/ cow hollow. Definitely not downtown or tenderloin.

I understand it’s difficult to predict the market in a few months but best bet on if it’s a good idea?

Also HOW, I’ve heard people apply before even seeing units and at the point are they paying for all the applications fees + risking scams?!

Tips appreciated!
